WOW, DUDE! I have never been a fan of using a pick when playing the bass - but I have to be honest - You make me want to explore the use of one at my age! You tore that song up with SURGICAL PRECISION, man! INCREDIBLE! Absolutely LOVED IT! Great work!
Thank you so much, bro!! It was learning Skid Row songs that made me pick up a pick years ago, after being only a finger player for so long before hand!.. It took a lot of adjusting to, but it is definitely a useful tool to have in the bag!
Very accurate . I've been a huge Skid Row fan since the very early 90s . Rachel Bolan is an incredible song writer and bassist . You nailed this bass line note for note . For everyone whom mocks bassist who use a plectrum you make me laugh . I've been playing bass for 14 months and have already learned a lot of complete basslines of my favorite acts . Skid Row is very unique and challenging amongst their peers . Round about way of saying I really enjoyed your cover . Much respect .
Thank you so much for the incredibly kind words! Rachel Bolan is one of my all time favourite bass players, and the reason I started learning to play with a plectrum, not just my fingers! Have fun on your bass journey, my friend!! Thank you so much, again! 🤘😎🤘
@@SpindleyBass terribly mate. I'm optimistic though as the gyms open so I can get back in shape. I used to be the Undertaker but now I'm Paul Bearer. Had to come of the BookFace. It was sending me insane with ass backwards division from politics lol. Got a new gig booked for September so hopefully be back in action soon enough. Hope you are well dude.
@@fatarry I totally don't blame you for coming off that shite!.. New gigs will definitely sort out a bad mindset, though dude! Any chance you know if the Notts gig is still on? I'm proper looking forward to that, and meeting you bro!
@@SpindleyBass yeah was looking forward to it too. Not sure anymore. I will update you or the social media will be updated. I'll likely be back om when I know whats happening with gigs. If it is I'm gonna be dead that weekend. Got that, then a show in Powerage at Waterloo Blackpool then Doncaster in the evening lololol
Hey great job. Big Skid Row and Spector fan here. Hope this doesn't come across as too geeky!! I watched your videos of Pyscho Love, Sweet Little Sister, Monkey Business and Quicksand Jesus. Your tone is immense. You seem to be using the same bass on all? Am I right in saying that Monkey Business and Quicksand were played on the front (P) pickup where the other two used both pickups together? Your tone is immense but there are differences between all videos. Your tone is a definite 9 out of 10 but on the Psycho Love video it's 11 out of 10!! What was different about that recording please? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.
Thank you so much, dude!! You're absolutely right about the pickups used in each song!.. When using both pickups, I still tend to have it slightly panned towards the P pickup, but having the J in there as well brings out that metallic 'clank' I'm not 100% sure what I did differently with Psycho Love, but I think I boosted the treble and mid controls a slight bit more than the others. Thank you, again! 🤘😎🤘
Thanks for that. This one has the Aguilar pickups and Darkglass preamp right? Strange question but would you describe it as your most Spector-sounding Spector? Would be interesting to see a comparison video between them all. Would also love to see how close you could get to the tone in this video with fingers rather than pick.
@@chocolatetelevision it's a weird one, really... this bass is capable of such a massive range of different tones, but is definitely still really 'Spector sounding,' even though it's Aguilar and Darkglass, and not the traditional EMG and HAZ. I will say though, the treble control is never fully boosted when I play with a pick, so I'm pretty sure that with finger playing and the treble fully boosted, I'll still be able to get a tone very close to this. Thanks again, dude! 🤘😎🤘
