I may be a little late to the party, as I just watched this video... but, wow! The time and money (repair parts) saved by your efforts in this video is enormous. Your “tame” settings allowed me to finally produce a respectable hover, 5 minutes after watching. Thank you sir!
Hey, Skip, welcome to the party, Bro. I'm glad the video was of great encouragement to you and you're enjoying get the basics down. Learning to fly a heli is challenging and you're going to love it. Stay in touch and enjoy! Join the channel if you haven't already done that.
Willie, I got my Syma X11 quad, and six extra batteries, in the mail today, and started things off by skittering across my wood floors for an hour. Next, I worked on the beginner flying patterns you recommended for another hour, and after that, practiced hovering for quite awhile. And all of that was to see if my brain could grasp the different stick movements for RC heli / multi-copters. Just want to let you know, that I was so pleased with what I accomplished with my Syma X11 today, that I just placed an order for a V977. It should be here in about 8 days, and it's all because of your Nano CPX/S, and WLToys V977 vlogs. I'll give you a progress update in a few weeks. Following your example, I'm already planning my 450 size upgrade, and intend to make that happen sometime this Summer. Additionally, since I have already decided that I want to fly scale RC helicopters - not really an aerobatic guy - then my TREX 450 Plus DFC will be stuffed inside of an MD 500 fuselage from RC Aerodyne, and topped off with a 4 blade rotorhead and scale blades (-of course). Last, I have also decided that after accumulating about 2 years of stick time on the TREX 450, that I intend to put together a 600-700 bare framed heli, with a gimbaled RC camera, so I can offer my services to local search and rescue (SAR) groups. Thanks again Willie...
+Daniel Berry Daniel, it's great to hear that things are going extremely well with your progression in heli training. I know first hand the joy of being able to master flying this category of models. I would love for you to keep me posted as you move ahead as I'm certain there will be something that I can learn. Since you're interested in scale helis here's a recent link I came across that you might find inspiring. This guy is a genius! ruclips.net/user/AutomaticUniverse
I've had a lot of comments on my videos over the years, but I consider this one "tops". Thanks a bunch and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Actually, I labored over doing this video for 3 months then I dove into putting it together. It was fun once I got into what I wanted to divulge so that it would be meaningful and not boring. Thanks again for your comment.
Hi Willie. Out of all the videos that I have watched about the nano CPX, yours is by far the best one yet. I have owned my nano for about two months. I have replaced many many parts. I thought that my fixed pitch skills would automatically transfer--NOT. After two months, I am still not comfortable at all with my flying. After watching your video, I realized a mistake that I have made. I decided that I really do need to purchase a flight simulator and a better radio than the RTF model. I wish that I would have seen your video earlier. As a CME Pastor, I find that the hobby really relaxes me and takes the stress out of my profession.
Pastor Helton, your comment truly rang a bell with me. I'm a deacon in my church and I clearly understand the stress that you go through leading a church. (BTW: I have an uncle who is a CME pastor). It was a wonderful commentary to hear that model aviation has provided a wholesome outlet for you (and golf clubs wasn't your choice of instrument!!!) I'm sure you have found some parallels in learning to fly helis and leading a congregation. (No quip intended). Yep, a good transmitter (DX6i or DX8) is a plus, but the simulator is what you really need in order to conquer the "Tasmanian Devil" (my nickname for the Nano). The sim can also offer you the ability to digitally fly just about any aircraft that's sold out there before you invest in it. In essence you'll never outgrow using a simulator so make sure Santa knows what you want for Christmas. If there is anything I can do to help you move ahead let me know.
The smaller birds are more squirrelly, but cheaper to repair. Once you can fly a Nano the bigger ones feel easier to control. I stared with the fixed-pitch MSRX in 2011 and then moved up to the Nano. today I have around 14 CP birds and still have the MSRX!
Hey, thanks for taking the time to leave a comment. You definitely are in to helis. I started with three 450s and I'm down to one needing repair and one ready to fly, but I'm too involved with other category of models to enjoy being traumatized. I hope you become a subscriber to the channel if you aren't already. Enjoy!
Thanks sooooooooo much, what a great vid! As someone who makes a few RUclips vids myself, I know how much time goes into them. With this video, I was able to learn the basics of CP helis without a flight sim, as my computer won't run one. I started on the nano cpx and last weekend purchased the 180 cfx. Thanks again, good flying! Nano CPX 180 CPX nano qx 3d 350 qx 120 sr
Brandon Bass Brandon, thanks for your comment and "yes" it does take an effort to produce concise, great content, and excellent photography to make a good RUclips video. I attempt to do that in each of my videos. From the models that you listed it looks like you've got a small heli/quad squardon (LOL!). I'm curious as to why your computer will not run any of the sim software. What OS are you working on? XP, Win 7 or 8? Mac? BTW: If you haven't already subscribed to my channel please do so as I am constantly uploading new videos for viewers like you. Enjoy!
Excellent video. Just ordered a novus cp helicopter. Waiting for it to arrive. I started with a coaxial, but now I see that the cp is a completely different beast. Im glad the person I bought it from included several spare parts and installed the double brushless motors. I see myself crashing quite a few times... Learned a lot from the video, Thanks again.
James, I not only appreciated your comment but I clearly understand your confession. Hang in there, brother, it's going to get even more exciting once you get past this stage of learning. My advice (since you skipped the fix-pitched heli training) is to take it SLOWLY and practice one maneuver at a time AND spent LOTS of time on a flight simulator. In fact, do the reverse...sim training is ultra important for you since you're coming from a co-axial background. Let me know if I can help. Enjoy!
Just getting into RC helicopters. I have found your videos, very real world and down to earth, which has been great. Still on a 4 channel fixed pitch, but working towards a 6 channel CP . Thank you for imparting your experience.
I can consider Willie a mentor. Thanks for the huge amount of beginner information! If I may, I would suggest flying your little heli over grass and instead of pavement. The crashes will be far less damaging!
I know it is an old video but just wanted to say good job and to let all the folks who watch it that you are giving them some great advice. I learned to fly helicopters back in the 90's on a Kyosho Nexus 30 (glow fuel) with a rate gyro (ie no heading lock/hold) actually I still have it but I have upgraded the gyro. My best advice to anyone wanting to fly helicopters of any kind is to learn to hover in every orientation before proceeding to forward flight and I mean a prolonged hover not just a quick 10 second hover, more like a 10 minute hover. It took me a better part of a summer to get really good at hovering so be patient. Thanks for sharing !
Willie, just wanted to drop you a line to let you know that I really enjoyed your video and appreciate all of the time and effort that you put into this. I am currently flying drones (200qx) but am interested in also getting into flying helicopters as well. Your step-by-step video is really going to help me along my way because I don't have the help of a mentor, am basically researching everything on the internet, watching RUclips videos and am going to see how I do. Thanks again so much, there are a few of you guys out there who take the time to give back to the hobby and it makes it that much enjoyable for the rest of us wanting to learn but not knowing where to go or how to start.
Joseph Daly Joseph, thanks for your kind words. Dec. 2012 I was in your shoes after getting back into the hobby after being absent from it since I was a kid. So I've dedicated myself to helping beginners as I've advanced through the different learning levels with different type models. I don't claim to be an expert but knowledge is a powerful tool when there's no one present to guide and encourage you. Don't hesitate to let me know if there's something I can help you with. We're all in the same wonderful boat!!! BTW: If you want to fly helis the first step is to invest in a flight simulator (Phoenix or RealFlight - if you're on the PC platform). Also, your drone (quadcopter) flying will help you in your heli training. Enjoy!
Good video. I should have watched this 12 years ago. I started out with a TREX 450... several of them. Spent a couple of thousand before I could hover and actually land it. The Blade Nanos through the 500 which they quit producing and is my favorite over my TREX 600 Pro. Back to the video, the little guys, especially Blade, are super quick and hard to control. Get used to this class, learn how to flip them both ways and after you spent a couple of hundred on repairs, move to a 450 class and don't touch it until you have at least 500 hours on a SIM. I have purchased dozens of helicopter's off ebay for pennies on the dime because people buy one, no idea what they are doing, lift 6" off the ground and crash... So, take my advice or post a brand new helicopter on ebay for me to pick up cheap... my local fly club needs donations! Thanks
a thin layer if epoxy painted on with a small brush works really well on the canopy , and I also glued 2 small carbon fibre rods from the tail rod to the landing skid and it stopped my tail wobble
Great Tips, Willie, thank you! I should have gone to bed half an hour ago, but i just had to try your beginners setup :-) First time flying in the living room without shaving any plants or chairs! Great, just great! I was about to sell that little devil... now I'm going to buy more batteries :-) Thank you so much!
+FetterCheckerchef Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you were able to glean some good info. I don't know if you want to continue flying inside the living room though. Too much stuff to smack into. Also, one of my displeasure with the Nano is the small size batteries that you have to use which don't don't give you much flight time. Enjoy! I hope you also subscribe to the channel so you can enjoy future uploads.
Thanks for this contribution! I am just starting out. I have the DX7s and nano CPx like you have here. Now I will look for an interface for the DX7s for my laptop for sim practice.
A good tip for people with the stock DX4 controller.. If you dont like the throttle stick to have clicks, you can open it up and make the throttle stick nice and smooth... Way easier to keep a level hover now... Makes it feel like blade msr, mcx controller.
+John Stubblefield John, you are welcome my friend. I love it too when I find the right channel for some of the stuff I'm trying to get a handle on. I hope you subscribe to my channel because I try to post 1-2 new beginner videos each month. Enjoy!
This is about the most informative tutorial I have found on the subject. This will help me and I have been flying for over a year with an Align 450 and have bought a Nano CPS to learn forward flight. THANK YOU SIR!
Kevin Ooten Kevin, thanks for your comment and I'm glad that the video was able to help you. I hope you become a subscriber and click on the notification bell so you can receive any future videos that I upload. Enjoy!
I came across your video, I just ordered a Nano from a retailer 2 or states away just cause their Helicopter guru spent a good 30 mins on the phone and worked with me asking 100 questions, I`m a big fan of the customer help! Anyways, thanks for this awesome video! You make me more confident and make ready to test out the heli when it comes in, I wasn`t planning to get a flight SIM for the PC but you make me want to get it to see what I can make it do. I noticed the store I bought my Heli from doesnt sell many blade models past the 230S an such, I think he leaned more toward a Align model.
Jeremy, thanks for your comment and I'm glad the video gave you the information and encouragement you need to forge ahead. The Nano is a tough bird (mine didn't have SAFE technology), but it should be much easier to fly than earlier versions. I cannot tell you how critical having a flight sim will help you to advance quicker in your training as well as save your bird from crashes and repairs. I have both larger version of Blade & Align helis and the Align is a much better product. Well, stay in touch and let me know if there is anything else I can help you with. Enjoy!
I also ended up grabbing a flight sim, RealFlight 7.5 with controller last night, didnt want to spend that kinda cash as well as buy a bird but well, cant have cake and ice cream without a backlash right? I do have a cheap dual rotor model from walmart the Mom bought me as a joke gift and well, after all the videos ive been watching I sure flew it better today then yesterday by far. I`ve looked at a lot of the birds out there, and theres way to dang many! Ive been eyeing a 450 or 550 for a future one, but thats a good ways out, my truck needs finished before I will be allowed to invest in that sorta bird.
I get my Nano Today and out of the Box i was Able to Bind it , put some Beginner Parameters in and Fly circles , and forward/Backwards. (Using The Dx6i) Damm Great Heli , I Mean this is my Firs Flybarless ,before i had some Cheaper Koaxial , The last 3 Weeks i read an AMOUNT of Tutorials , Reviews etc . This Vid ist definetley one of the Best ! greets from germany
Jimi, I'm glad that the video was a big help in you getting a great start with your Nano. It sounds like you're going to be advancing rather quickly to the 450 size helis. Greetings from the USA too. BTW: If you haven't subscribed to my channel I encourage you to do so as I'm constantly posting videos for viewers like yourself. Enjoy!
What a great video! I did the exact same thing. I have had a nano for a little while now and so glad I got it instead of a bigger one. I had all the same criteria and bang for buck this is the way to learn.
+RC Details Thanks for your recent comment on one of my RUclips videos. If you haven’t already done so please subscribe to my channel and tell your friends about the experience you had while viewing my videos. And don't overlook checking out my Playlists because there are some pertinent resources you might be interested in. I also have additional HD videos on these sites: www.vimeo.com/williehilljr/videoscornerjournal.blogspot.com/ Enjoy! Willie
Willie, Very well done. I have went from a Blade mCX straight to the Nano cPX, mainly because they use the same batteries. I have named my Nano "The Evil Spawn" - LOL. But I am getting longer and longer flight times every time I fly her. Thanks again, Mad Mark
Mad Mark Hey, man, thanks for the compliment and I love the name. I'm sure other owners of the Nano have a pet name too. It's just that kinda heli! Like you I used the batteries from my Mini Vapor but I did invest in some Turnigy ones that have outlasted the E-flite batteries by months of continued usage. In fact, all of the E-flite batteries are disposed of. I hope you subscribed to my channel because I've got more videos coming for viewers like you. Enjoy!
Willie Hill, Jr Willie, I have been buying E-flite 1S, 3.7, 150 maH, 45C batteries from my LHS. I bought some Lectron 180 maH, 45C a couple of days ago. I am slowly breaking them in, and so far I am impressed with the amount of overall power they have. I'll have to check to see if they can order me some of the Turnigy's.Thanks again for the tips, and keep flyin'.
Thanks Sr. I have been try to fly a heli myself. I never thought about getting a nano. I do ok on my smell helicopters but scared to fly one of my two big ones. I have a blade 450 3d and a Venture cp 50 scale. I'm not giving up this time.
Hey Willie. I found myself looking at indoor flight videos as well. You have the perfect nickname for this heli. Thanks so much for taking the time out to share your great tips! i am definitely going to set my nano cps accordingly to tame her down. Unfortunately the main rotor gear kept flying off on me. Have to go to L.H.S. to pick up another main rotor gear and apply a light drop of glue to secure it in place. I have the older phoenix flight sim but unfortunately it is for the older window O.S. and will not work on my windows 10 laptop. I myself have been looking at the T rex and T rex clones which are very nice! 1 or my next step up from the Nano rather than HH and blades. I had a WL toys V911 which I lost. I have looked at their cp versions in addition to the Walkera. XKX, mini assaults, hi sky. exceed etc. Thanks so for your own experiences, and recommendations progressing into the cp realm. I really appreciate it.Sean.
Sean, I pleased that the video has been a big help to you and you taming the little "Tasmanian Devil". I never had problems with the main gear popping off, but my Nano was not the SAFE version. It's unfortunate that the sim is not compatible with your O.S. That's why I've keep several laptops around with Win XP on them. Check out this link if you're interested in upgrading: www.ebay.com/itm/Great-Planes-RealFlight-RF-X-Flight-Simulator-w-Interlink-X-Con-Windows-7-8-10-/302119650008?hash=item4657bc02d8:g:d9AAAOSwUEVYESj5 The Align T-Rex helis are great. I have two Blade 450Xs & one Align 450 and the Align is my favorite because of its quality and smoothness. The V911 is also a great micro CP heli to train on. The only problem is the main gear and bearing can pop off or lost. Enjoy! and I hope u become a subscriber.
Hopefully my crashed Belt CP will be a lesson to other newcomers! To echo your point, these days I always tell people: spend lots of time on a simulator before doing real flying. I got into simulators AFTER I crashed my first heli, and it became a huge help after the fact.
Ian, thanks for your comment and the use of your photograph to support my video. I'm hoping this video will help a lot of heli pilots make a smooth transition up to the larger helicopters like I did. Thanks again for your help.
+Thomas Lo Sciuto Thomas, thanks for the comment. Also, I want you to consider what I've posted in this link as well: ruclips.net/video/LhdYNOsIDjs/видео.html
+Willie Hill, Jr Thanks for the info Willie! I ended up going with the nano cps paired with a dx6i and I am very happy with it. Thanks again for the video!
Willie, I've been watching your videos from the very beginning. I have the same Heli's you do, as well as the Pheonix flight sim. Unfortunately i was so discouraged i put it down for several years. Well with the recent current events, and time on my hands, the passion reignited, and I'm back flying again to the point where i bought another heli. So now i am at a 4 heli collection. Blade Nano, 200srx, 230sv2, and 450x. I've been spending hours on the SIM. Still a long way to go. Great videos, keep them coming. God Bless.
Hey, it's good to hear from you and "thanks" for hanging with me all these years. It seems you have amassed a collection of helis too. I have to share a tip with you that I've introduced into my life. I read in the book: The One Thing by Gary Keller (a DEFINITE must READ), that it takes 66 days to develop a habit. So, since Feb. when the virus hit I've been on my flight sim everyday for at least 30 minutes learning how to master 3D flying. It works!! I just bought an Eflite Extra 300 (www.horizonhobby.com/extra-300-3d-13m-bnf-basic-with-as3x---safe-select--p-efl11550) to put everything into real time and I'm amazed at how calm I am at practicing the maneuvers. I actually see things in slow motion now and never panic. So, with tons of time on your hands give it a priority and see how much better your heli flying will become. Let me hear back from you in 2 months. Blessings to U2, Brother! Enjoy!
nano rocks. I agree about boom and canopy as main damaged parts on crash, but what has bugged me a lot is the main motor burnout, and the worst: gyro plugs for servos coming apart when replacing motor. the gyro is $60 itself. gladly now there is a brushless motor available that won't burn. Nice video by the way
Thanks for your comments. Personally, I have not experienced any motor burn out. It could be because not until now have I started using my Nano for 3D flight training. Good news though. I have come across the match for the Nano in the V977 which I've produced a new video that I will be uploading next month. It's brushless, flies like a butterfly, rugged as a bulldog, cheaper, and repairs are a minimal. If you haven't subscribed to my channel I encourage you to do so in order to see why I've dubbed it the "perfect CP training heli for beginners". Enjoy!
Hey thanks for the advice I just subscribed. I got started fooling around with 3.5ch copters with my grandson a few years ago and got the 4ch bug now. C.J.
@@PAW6110 Hey Willie sorry for the long delay I replying. I got that V912 Skydancer. Just getting my sea legs from 3.5 to 4ch. Working on it. Thanks for the info and inspiration. Love the 🎶music!
Great video mate. I only just watched your video today for the first time and have had my Nano for a while. I 100% agree that its a great heli for progressing into CP helis.
+medg1963 Thank you, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, they've discontinued the model and replaced it with a SAFE version. Folks now won't get the experience of flying the Nano without training wheels. Enjoy!
Willie I think this is an Excellent video. I really like how you properly set our expectations. I started with an MCX, then bought a 120 SR, and today just bought a Nano CP S on my lunch break. Cant wait to get it home!
Hey, thanks for your comment and good luck with your Nano. It's a challenge in the making. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with to get a leg up on the little "beast". Enjoy!
Willie Hill, Jr I finally got it in the air last night it was awesome! SAFE really helps I find this bird to be much more enjoyable to fly than my 120SR it responds quicker and more accurately to my inputs. The 120 feels very sloppy to me. I've subscribed and will continue to watch and listen to your advice. You are the real deal sir.
wow, really nice of you to take the time to put together such a great instructional video. I totally agree with your choices. I progressed to the mcpx v2, as it was just a tad bigger but still the same price (when I bought it). these little heli's can really take off on you, and do provide good learning experience, making moving up to a larger (and more docile due to size) heli a lot easier.
Brad, thanks for the vote of approval on the content featured in the video. I'm hoping it will be well received and help folks gain more confidence in moving up to flying CP helicopters. Have a great summer of flying!
Hello Willie this is a great video! I recently got into flying Rc helis ive been flying multiroters I started out on a blade nano qx and got into a blade 350qx that ive been flying for a couple of months. Yesterday I decided to take the a leap of faith and try my skills on a CP heli so I picked up a Blade 450 x and wow! that heli is a beast I got a few sucessful hovers but flying cp is so much differnt defintly a new challenge to learn
Joe, you are a BRAVE man!!! To go from a quad to the 450X is big leap and I commend you on having the guts to do it. The first time I cranked up my 450X for it's maiden flight I was virtually shaking in my shoes listening to the growling roar of those blades turning. Pure intimidating adrenaline!! Keep the faith, brother, and take it one flight at a time and ALWAYS keep in the back of your mind that you WILL NOT crash. That's my mantra when I go flying with my 450.
+Gary Sangapore Gary, thanks for the compliment and I hope you become a subscriber because I usually upload several videos a month for viewers like you. Also, I do have a document with my Nano settings if you want me to send it to you for a comparison. Give me your email address. Enjoy!
Thank you Willie you know you got me into planes with the Apprentice I'm thinking about getting into CP helicopters I have been flying the small toy ones all over the house time to take a step up I do have a Sim.
+Plowboy H Well, it sounds like you're mentally ready for the challenge. BUT!!!!! Don't jump into a CP heli unless you've at least mastered flying a better grade of fixed-pitch heli first. I'm assuming the ones you're flying around the house are co-axial versions. Any sim time you put in is worth it's weight in gold. Let me know if I can guide you as to what beginner helis you might consider investing in. Enjoy!
simply superb! I'm actually training in a simulator right now for the winter. however I do have my eyes on a walkera super cp heli since I have a devo 7e controller.
+noisynerdman Thank you very much. I wish you success in stepping into the CP heli domain & the fact that you're training on a sim is going to put you months ahead in your training. Enjoy!
Excellent video Willie. Thank you very much for putting in the time. I purchased a few blade copters a few years ago. (MCX/2, MSRX, and MCPX using a DX8) Back surgeries kept me from doing anything with them until recently. MCX2 is no problem. I decided to try the MSRX and am very frustrated I can hover tail in, and do a pretty precise landing. As soon as I try to turn it around or do a nose in hover forget it!! The MCPX I have done short hovers just to make sure she still works. I am getting a little discouraged and thinking about giving the CP S a try. From things I have read, although its a fixed pitch, the MSRX may have been a bit to much of a jump from the MCX/2. Your thoughts?
+Bruinz Fan Thanks for your comments. From your comments I believe you have thrown in the towel to quickly when it comes to the MSRX especially if you're considering the Nano CP S. I think some sim time and sticking with the MSRX until you can turn around and do nose in hovers eventually you will master the stage of heli flying. It takes time I promise you...we have all gone through that period in order to advance to the next level. Hang in there and don't give up.
+Willie Hill, Jr Thank you for your response. I don't currently have a Sim. I see on the Phoenix Simulator that they have the MSR, but not the MSRX. Also they have the CP but not the CP S in the Nanos. I just want to make sure I am making the right choice for what I have. Thank you again.Keith
Jim, thanks for watching me latest video. I'm been wanting to put it together for several months and finally I set down and completed it. Stick with your Nano and a sim and you'll be flying a bigger heli in no time. Check out my 450X videos that I've recently posted too thanks to training on the Nano. Good luck with your Nano.
I have a brand new blade 400 from 2007, I learned to hover it and its been in the box for 10 years. now I'm ready to try on this because i'll have a crutch. thanks for the info on self leveling. this little heli might be my practice heli for 3d. I subbed
Hey, I'm glad the video was enough to encourage you to give flying helis another try. They are a challenge, but since 2007 the technology has gotten better as well as learning how to fly them. I hope you have a flight simulator because that would put you ahead of the learning curve and it will be indispensable once you start 3D training. Good luck, stay in touch, & let me know if I can help you further. Enjoy!
Willie Hill, Jr Thank you for replying Mr. Hill. Thanks also for the kind words of encouragement, what flight simulator would you recommend and also i would appreciate any links that could help with binding the spectrum dx6i to a mjx bugs 3h. I'm having problems with the clean flight application. Thanks and have a great 👍🏾 weekend.
Here is a link to flight sim software. (www.ebay.com/itm/RF7-22-in1-RC-USB-Flight-Simulator-Kit-Fit-for-XTR-G5-G6-G7-AeroFly-PhoenixRC-YH/283037555534?hash=item41e65a5b4e:g:W4EAAOSwAspbOidP:rk:14:pf:0). You will need a Spektrum or Futaba controller to operate the software. The DX6i does not work with the mjx bugs 3h because the mjx has its own proprietary RX scheme to work with it's controller and is not compatible with the Spektrum
10 years bro, that is a long time lol. Ok now the jokes are over, just get a sim and watch all the material Willie have on here. I came back here and lo and behold I was able to use his advice regarding the tweezers to fix my swash plate issue after I had a crash. I was so excited at 2 am i went out to fly the heli.
Hi Willie, Would you care to comment a bit on the "Nano X Grim Reaper". I never had much luck with it out of the box. (but the point is now moot, since I got a CP S)
+ytilk Unfortunately, you would have had to experience it before HH introduced SAFE technology as "training wheels" for the Nano. I don't regret learning on the original Nano because it definitely prepared me for moving up to the Blade 450X. Good luck with the new version. Enjoy!
I have the dx6e and thos wasnt listed in the settings so i just put it in there guessing. ..works but no throttle hold and had a bad reciever. .wouldnt bind right..re soldered reciever on and then it worked..mine was new old stock..so i couldnt get my money back...flying awsome
Hi Willy, thank you for this great informative video! You have a calm friendly voice so the video is also nice to hear :). Your tips encouraged me to take heli flying to the next level (cpx). The nano is on my list now and hopefully a bigger heli in the future. Cheers
Hey, you're welcome and thanks for the kind comment. I'm not sure what you're flying at the moment but if you're on lock down because of the weather give the Hubsan X4 a shot. On "expert mode" it is just as agile as the Nano, only cost $40 bucks and can be flown inside. I hope this encourages you more. Enjoy!
Andy, thanks for your comments. Hopefully, you were still able to glean some tips that were useful. Enjoy! And please subscribe to my channel if you'd like to follow new monthly uploads.
Todd Simmons Todd, thanks for your comment and welcome to the select group of Nano CPX pilots who were willing to take the challenge. I wish you the best during your adventure. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with.
Excellent video thank you! Im having so much fun with my Nano and sim, those hours i had in the sim and other flight sims definitively helped. Found the takeoff to be the worst in Agility and 3d mode but easy to recover once you got in the air
Hey, I'm glad the video was of help and that you followed my advice and got off to a great start with the Nano. Keep up the lessons, sim & flight times, and you'll be ready for the next size up in helis. Enjoy, and I hope you become a subscriber. I have some interesting videos that are in the works.
Thanks! I had the Nano already but your video was quite informative and i learned from it . Ill be getting a 450 size later on no doubt, its very addicting. Thankfully real life flying is easier than the sim (i fly on a 40 inch 3d tv) and the stability mode is great for learning. I fly mostly on 3d though after owning it for 3 days :) Scary but fun!
Hey, I apologize for the late response but I caught the devil with my computer while working on my latest upload of the Syma X8HC. Crash after crash, after crash. Anyway, it's good to hear that you're making inroads with your heli training. Keep at it and you'll be ordering that 450 size before you know it. Take care.
Another great video. The Blade 450 looks like an awesome machine. The simulator is a very good suggestion and I am going to get one before I ever try to fly such a nice bird in the field. It is also a great idea to get colored blades. I would probably still have some of my older helis if I had thought of that and the simulator. I intend to watch all of your videos over and over. Keep up the great work. Eddie Solomons
This is a great video! My two cents: You mentioned the two trains of thought for learning collective...starting with a micro heli or starting with a 450 size. For safety purposes alone, I would not recommend anyone starting off with a larger heli if they aren't comfortable with how to fly collective pitch on a micro heli or a SIM. A large heli can cause some serious injury if you don't know what you're doing. The Nano is a great starter heli and it is still one of my favorites since it can be flown nearly anywhere you go!
Ur welcome. The best tips I can give you is for your first flights keep the heli at a safe height(3-4 feet) that will allow you to slowly lower it to the ground in order to avoid a severe crash, practice steady hovering with the tail facing you & then try moving forward/backwards, left/right and up/down. These maneuvers may seem boring at first but they will help you keep your heli in one piece until you can start flying it around in other attitudes. Enjoy!
@@knownothingrc9335 Yes, a true rc controller will be more suitable to helping you fly better on the sim. I fly on the sim everyday for more than 30 mins. when I don't go to the field. Here's something I recently learned and it has really helped me: "It takes 66 days to learn a habit". (I've been following that fact for the last two months and my 3D flying with my aerobatic models has gone through the roof, so the premise is true). Try it!
Must need a cable to go from controller to computer because I couldn’t get mine to link up with rf9 so back to xbox controller it is. Also just got my nano and not having a good time lol.my RTF is not so ready.cant bind it as per instructions and now it lifts a but then backwards crashes every time and no help from my hobby shop where i bought it so now heading to horizon hobbys to see if they can help
@@knownothingrc9335 Here's my email address: hillpics1@aol.com. We can chat easier that way and I should be able to help you with both issues. Initially, tell me what brand/model controller you have.
Willie, thank you for producing this excellent video! I just bought a Nano, and after a few minor crashes I decided to educate myself a bit. I will definitely give your TX settings a go! Thanks again! =)
Funny you should mention that. I am flying a 450 in Phoenix 5 at the moment! Thanks again. All my stuff was fixed pitch, so this takes some getting used to. Having a blast though, thanks again!
Willie Hill, Jr I watched the throttle hold video, and use it. I can hover tail in and tail out is good. I've always had issues side on, so I'm working on that now. CP is a blast, I wish I hadn't waited so long now... Thanks again!
informative and accurate in relaying the learning basics of one of the more amazing hobby genres i like to refer to RC aerial acrobatics. seeing collective pitch crafts for the first time blew my mind and were the original "hook" that got me emersed in what has now progressed to drone sport.
Fin, thanks for checking out my channel and leaving your comment. It sounds like you have traveled the same journey that I'm currently pursuing. I hope you become a subscriber to the channel. Enjoy!
I decided to follow your tips and bought myself a blade nano CP S. I have tried fixed pitch like blade 120 S wltoys 911and some Other models. So i feel a bit confident and bought my first CP Heli.
Ok, now you're taking the next big step in heli flying. Take your time and work at it as often as you can. Let me know if there is something I can help you with.
I have not crashed it a lot but today i did and a part of the frame broke. it was one of these thing holding the canope on place. I glued it back again and problem kind of fixed. It wasnt so stable and will probebly come back off again. What would you have Done? One more thing the CP s frame looks different from the cp x and has the reciever in a forward position. Excuse me for my bad english.
I watched this video last year and pretty much blew it off. Much like Willie I learned on a Blade 120 S series (mine was a 120 S), The 120SR is a bit squirrelly compared to the 120 S. I have a CPS and just purchased a mCPX BL2 (for close to $200) and a Nano S3 (about $100). Where am I going with this. Willie's advice is spot on! Thank you Willie. Liked and subbed).
What a Great, Informative, Un-Complicated video. It pretty much sums up my journey from flying a Toy Heli on Xmas day, with One control(up and down).....all the way to a Full Collective pitch Align Pro 550 Heli.! Nice one Willie
Thanks for checking out my channel and leaving a comment. Wow! I'm so impressed with how well you advanced to the larger heli. I wish you much more success and it appears that helis were made for you. Enjoy & I hope you become a subscriber to the channel. Maybe in the future there will be another category of models that my videos can help you with.
Willie Hill, Jr thanks Willie. I might add that it wasn’t “this”Xmas, just gone, that I flew for the first time, but almost 10 years ago! A long and pleasant On/Off journey......which has led me to my First Resl Helicopter lesson in a Robinson R44 only 2 weeks ago. !!!!
Okay. That's cool. I have a private pilot's license and I know the thrill you must be having in flight training. You've a lot of training ahead of you and I wish you well. "Be safe". So, let me see the picture of the day you go solo for the first time.
I spent 220 yesterday on a Blade 400, and the DX6I transmitter, I`m having to study to figure this setup out cause its advanced compared to the basic RTF model trans I got, but I should be able to adjust the heli so its worth it.
man # I am so glad that I subscribe to your chanel. there is a ton of learning in your videos on helicopters and quads that you make easily understood. you have saved me Time, Money and Discouragement! I have yet to purchase a helicopter but for darn sure I plan to follow up in your foot steps. many thanks. ! ! :) you make easily understood
John, my man, I'm grateful to be of help to you and thousands of other persons who are just getting into remote control modeling. It's a great hobby! I'm still learning too...
Thank you Mr. Willie! Your videos have helped me alot. I am currently attempting to learn to fly a Blade nano. Not so much luck. But with your help, a flight sim and the nano I might just get it. Again thanks for the videos!
I'm so sorry I haven't responded sooner to your comment. Sometimes life's responsibilities slow me down. I appreciate your comment especially since you have been a fan of the channel. My word of encouragement is: (Learning to fly helis is a CHALLENGE, but soon it will click and you'll marvel at how you finally accomplished it). Enjoy!
absolutely a brill video willie (good name) to show a normal run of the mill person how to go about doing this hobby not an d no disrespect to a lot of superb pilots out there that do videos to help us they just need to be a bit more real like yours love the touch about the tweezers
+wgunthor1 Thanks a lot for your kind comments. One of my intent with each of my videos is to numb down the pious deception in learning this hobby and make it easy for newcomers to have at hand the information they need to getting over their initial apprehensions. I also want to take them along on some of the news paths that I'm exploring in model aviation because I find it's fun and there is so much to learn. Enjoy!
Thank you for the wonderful and informative video. I also have a 450x, a mcpx-bl and a 130x. I'm doing really good at hovering and a little forward flight and backwards flight. I don't want to start flying circles yet as I'm still trying to learn the correct procedure when it comes to applying roll and yaw to make a nice coordinated turn. I just bought myself the phoenix sim and will practice on that. Any tips will be appreciate. Best regards and many blessings and happy flying. Joe
Joe, from what you have told me you have set yourself up for success. You have a great selection of models to advance with and you are committing yourself to using the sim. Tips: 1) It takes time and practice (real flight & sim time) so don't rush it...enjoy it, 2) Practice that challenge I made in the video about exploring the flight envelop with aggressive cyclic stick movements. It will really hone your reaction skills and settle your nerves, 3) Promise yourself that you WILL NOT crash during practice (I know that sounds funny, but it establishes a mindset), and 4) Fly on the days when you have tons of confidence, practice the maneuvers that you have most difficulty with, and stop flying when you feel totally frustrated with yourself. Here's my "biggie". Finally, make sure you establish a workflow that is centered around being safe while handling the helis or flying. You can incur some serious injury if you make a mistake around these type aircraft. Stay in touch. Enjoy!
Thank you very much for your tips Mr. Hill, I really appreciate them and will check your videos on a regular basis for new material. Happy flying and many blessings to you and yours. Regards, Joe
I just broke out my old nano cp s after sitting on a shelf broken for 3 years. That heli went through hell teaching me how to fly and felt it was only right to make her like new. This is the first video I’ve watched of yours and am curious how far you’ve progressed on flying heli’s.
Farley, checkout my Helicopter & More Playlist on my channel and you will get an idea of how far I've advanced. I gotta tell you though that I've kinda put helis on the back burner because I'm into so many other type models. Also, two of my three helis need repair and I just don't feel like messing with them (too complicated). Enjoy!
Willie, the way your swashplate seaperated was happening on my blade 120s every time I went flying. It got to the point a rough landing would make it do that. I changed it to a microheli one. My only upgrade besides batteries.
Michael, thanks for your comment. I never experienced this problem with my 120S but I didn't crash it as much as I did the Nano which is a beast to handle when you're learning to fly your 1st CP heli.
Willie The 120s is my first heli in 5 years. The new technology had me overconfident for a minute. I think the first hard crash had made the swash come apart much easier from that moment on. Not much crashing now, just had to get the rust out of my flying fingers.. Your videos are great, super informative.. Thank you for making them
Really informative video!!! I am going to be coming to for help when my blade nano comes in the mail on monday. I have a fix pitched heli and crap load of quadcopters. So i think i'll havwe an advantage on flying the nano. Well i hope i do. Take care.
+Ian Rice Ian, thanks for your comment and feel free to contact me when you get your Nano. Also, I up you subscribe to my channel because I frequently upload new videos for viewers like you. Enjoy!
Kricken Rogers Kricken, that's an awesome compliment (thanks) and I'm just trying to pass on every nugget of knowledge I've learned since getting back into the hobby. We're in a unique community where sharing is a must because not everyone has someone within arms reach that can help them out with a problem. I'm glad I can help a little. Enjoy!
Willie, great video with a lot of common sense about learning to fly this little devil. Did you make any travel adjustments on your Nano CPX to slow it down?
Thank you for your comment and here is the answer to your question. The only way to tame the Nano is through custom TX settings which I list in the video. If you would like for me to personally email those settings to you contact me at hillpics1@aol.com
Thank you so very much for your videos, you inspired me to keep going and I’ve recently went from flying my Nano CPS to the 230s and 360 CFX 3S. I’m having a great time with the only 3D flying currently being done only within the confines of my windows laptop running Real Flight 8 and Phoenix RC 5.5.
Keith, thanks for the kind comments and I'm glad that you are making great strides flying helis (not easy). Using a flight sim is a must if you want to advance in the 3D arena, so stay on course. Enjoy, and I hope you become a subscriber.
brilliant video Willie! learning at the moment, got a few helis, 130x, nano and mcpx. never heard of the v977, i am guessing you have already got that heli
+froggy8 Thanks for your comment. I've flown all your helis except the mcpx. V977: Well, after flying the blades off my Nano, & HH telling me they couldn't fix an issue (little did I know they were in the process of debuting the Nano CPS), I started looking around for a replacement and discovered the V977. I wish I had known about it before I purchased the Nano because it is an excellent CP trainer for the price. So, yes, I do own the V977. There are very few complaints about it. Currently (Jan 15, 2015) it's on sale: us.banggood.com/wh_buy/Usa/V977.html Enjoy!
Nice video. After mastering my Blade SR120 i am thinking o buying Nano CpX but I want to stop on nano helis size as outdoors I fly only electric gliders.
+RC Maniak (Szelen78) Thanks for your comment. You can still buy the Nano CPX on some sites, but as you know it has been replaced by the CPS which has SAFE technology. I did all of my collective pitch training with the Nano inside a gym, so wind never challenged my efforts. It's a great little bird but I want to point you to take a look at the V977 for several reasons. 1) It's 6G setting is docile enough for a beginner, 2) The battery capacity is larger which will give you more flight time for training (they are also cheaper), 3) The cost of the heli is cheaper, & 4) It flies quite well outside. Finally, if you are NOT also training on a flight simulator prepare yourself for a steep learning curve. Once you master CP flying there's not much that will keep you from flying any model. I hope this helps. BTW: You can review the V977 on my channel if you want to get an idea of what to expect.
Daryl, you didn't mention which helicopter you might be upgrading from, but since posting this video I believe that I have discovered the perfect heli for a beginner to start CP training on in the V977: ruclips.net/video/LhdYNOsIDjs/видео.html The V977 is so smooth in flight and it's brushless motor can handle collective inputs with no hesitation. I just came back from flying and I love the fact that it can handle an outdoor breeze whereas the Nano would be pushed out of the sky. Finally, if you really want to get a jump on your CP flying use the Blade 450X on the sim and see how much faster your skills advance. The Nano is just too squirrelly on the sim (and in real life too). I hope this helps. Enjoy!
Willie Hill, Jr I have mastered the MCX2 and am trying to decide if I should get the 120sr or jump into CP as I seem to be doing okay on the Phoenix Sim with larger CPs. I have a terrible time trying to land the Blade Nano though. Still haven't decided yet. Am about to watch your video on the V977. Thanks so much for your time!
Daryl Bush Daryl, first of all you WILL have problems landing the Nano because it is so squirrelly and that's why I suggest beginners should use a larger model on Phoenix like the Blade 450X. If you are handling the larger CPs on the sim then you might be ready for the V977 because the 6G mode is very easy flying for someone with you current sim skills. Then when you are ready to kick into CP mode simple through the switch into 3D mode but don't activate the stunt switch and you'll be fine. The heli takes crashes very well, but I think you should order an extra main gear and a set of bearings because they pop off/out in order to minimize rotor damage. Order the parts from the US warehouse (us.banggood.com/wh_buy/Usa/V977-parts.html) but you HAVE to order the heli from China: www.banggood.com/WLtoys-V977-Power-Star-X1-6CH-2_4G-Flybarless-RC-Helicopter-p-914247.html
+James Moore James, thanks for your comment and for for subscribing to my channel. Yes, I do try to keep it real on the videos that I post because I've learned that it takes TIME to master any category of model aviation flying and it just doesn't come over night. Enjoy!
Another great video,Willie!,trouble is,every time I watch one of your videos the next thing I'm looking on ebay, you're a great salesman Willie, but I think I should master my hubsan x4 first, that I bought after watching your video!😉
+Graham Smith Graham, LOL! Take your time with the X4. You'll know when it's time to step up to something more challenging, but you'll still fly your X4. It never loses it charm. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed this instructional video. I have two Skyartec Wasp Nanos (micro size) and they have been relegated to the back of the cupboard. This has re-awakened my interest. I previously was trying to learn how to fly them all wrong, but this video has made sense of it all. Can anybody please say if you know of a good flight simulator compatible with an iMac? Thank you Willie, that was inspirational.
Thanks for your comment & I hope you become a subscriber to my channel. Check out this link for a flight simulator for your iMac: store.steampowered.com/app/434030/ I hope this helps.
Hello Willie. I did subscribe. I am going from a small fixed pitch to a Blade 360 and crashed it on the first flight. I purchased a flight simulator so I will practice AND get help from an experienced rc heli pilot on my next try. I just joined the AMA as well as a local rc club. Keep up the good work. You must be an engineer with the high level of detail and organization I see in your video.
+Paul Marshall Paul, sorry about your Blade 360 taking a dive. That was quite a leap from a fixed pitch to the 360 bird unless you've put in a lot of sim time, you're married to Lady Luck, or you're just a top gun heli pilot. I hope your bird can be fixed once you get a handle on all of the things you mentioned in this comment. I wish you well and you will master your 360. I'm not an engineer but I am a retired photographer and that profession requires having a meticulous personality. Stay in touch.
Fantastic vid Willie, thank you! I am new to RC Heli's...right now I am flying a coaxial, and I recently ordered a 4-Chan FP heli (Syma F3)...I am still awaiting its arrival. I ordered about $60 worth of spare parts to avoid having down time when I crash...this way I have extras on-hand for quick repair so I can get flying again. I have been perusing the HeliFreak forum, and many members recommended (like you) - that I start with the Nano CPX for the same reasons you noted. Only down side I hear is the motor burns out quickly, so maybe once it does it might be worthwhile picking up the BL motor for more reliability and more aggressive flying. Did you buy your Tx (DSX7 S), when you bought the sim? I am looking at the new DX6, but I think getting a Tx with an extra channel might be worth it...so perhaps the DX7. What sim are you using? I was thinking about getting neXt as I have a Mac...overall opinion on it is good although it is not quite as comprehensive as Phoenix, RealFlight or AccuRC. Your thoughts? BTW - Impressive that you moved up to a Blade 450 within that short a time frame. Did you build it, or purchase a BNF model?
Chris, thanks for the awesome comment and description of your heli experience. I wish you a lot of success as you start your heli training with the Syma F3. It's going to be an exciting beginning. In your comment about the Nano I get the impression that you're going to skip the next level of heli you should buy (a FP heli) by jumping up to the Nano. I hope you would reconsider that decision (if you are thinking it) and invest in a FP helicopter. Between the F3 and the Nano there is a HUGE learning curve that a Blade 120 (or some other FP model) could help you successfully make the transition to the CP category. Now, I have put tons of hours on my Nano and I'm still flying it on the same motor. A motor burning out is coming from the guys that are putting some serious 3D flying on the heli so certainly the motor is not going to last long. However, since you'll be basically using it for flight training you'll be fine. Furthermore, a new motor only cost $12 bucks! Currently, I'm using mine as a 3D trainer before I attempt anything on my 450X. There's a big difference in a crash costing $99 dollars compared to $400 dollars. I bought the DX7s as a deal which also included a receiver. Right after that the DX6i came on the scene and tons of pilots have preferred it over the DX7s. 6-channels is sufficient for where you are in the hobby. Sim: I got back into the hobby 2 yrs. ago when a guy gave me the RealFlight Basic sim for videotaping him & juvenile program he was instructing. I now use the Phoenix sim. For the MAC platform I recommend that you purchase the Aerofly 7. Here's a link you can check out: aeroflyrc.com/requirements.html 450X BNF: I believe the reason that I moved up so quickly to this size heli was because of the amount of time that I put in with the Blade 120 SR (FP), the Nano CPX, and the Phoenix simulator. Also, I was realistic about my training and didn't try to push ahead without being fully grounded in handling the maneuvers I needed to practice. Learning to fly a helicopter is VERY intense and challenging. They just don't glide very well. Another term might be they're not user-friendly!!! Let me know if I can help and stay in touch with me. Enjoy!
Het Willie. You just gave me some insight on drones. I described my Simtoo Fairy 175 as a piece of garbage. And you most definitely agreed. I used to fly Century 30 size gas helis. Expensive and the gas was messy. Went to my local hobby store to purchase a better drone. And there it was. I bought a Blade 230S v2. Omg. Boy did i miss flying a heli. Technology has come a long way. Love it. I had no problem throwing down the $300 for it. I got the RTF version. Now can you tell me where i can purchase the Phoenix sim. It's a lot cheaper to learn 3d on a computer. And since i already have the transmitter. Can i buy the chord and the program by themselves?
Hey Willie. I came across this video looking for tips on how other pilots have progressed from beginner level helis to intermediate and advanced level helis. You suggested that we start out with something like the Nano cps and then slowly progress until we build the confidence to fly something like the Blade 450. Do you have any suggestions for me in terms of how to minimize damages while training? I went from the Blade MCX2 to the Blade 230s. Pretty big jump! Thanks for your time Willie!
I'm sorry for the delayed reply. I don't know why, but sometimes it seems that YT delays posting comments and yours just came online today. However, I think I posted a reply directly to you through your channel. If not, let me know and I will answer your question
+Mike Hundley Mike, you're welcome. You're correct in that helis are little difficult, but the challenge to master flying them is half the fun. Once you gain some confidence they become addictive. Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.
Hello Willie, I have been flying the Blade 120 SR for about 6 weeks now (thanks to your video). How will I know when I'm ready for a collective pitch aircraft? Should I consider the Nano CP X? Thanks so much, you have amazing videos!
Ian, out of all the questions I've had on both my 120SR and Nano CPX videos your question as been the most succinct and worthwhile answer. Well, I checked my flight logbook and I discovered (aside from all the simulator time that I put in) that I flew the 120 SR for a total of 18 hours and for approx. 2 1/4 months before transitioning to the Nano. Here's how to tell when your ready to make the move: 1) You can execute turns about a point, figure 8s, and nose in hovers comfortably, 2) You can fly the Blade 450X or a similar CP heli models on a flight simulator with relative ease, and 3) Deep in your bones you know you are ready to move on and believe you CAN do it. I love my Nano and do recommend it for all the reasons I mentioned in the video, but especially because if you can master how to fly the "LIL' BEAST" you CAN fly a larger heli with no problems. The other reason is HH has the best product & tech support in the world which is something you're not going to get from another vendor who is located in China or somewhere else. In addition, most local hobby shops will care the spare parts you need in a hurry. Yes, there are some new larger micro CP heils out there you could use as a trainer, but for their price you could buy 2-3 Nanos, and believe me you will beat up ANY trainer heli you purchase & fly. I just think it would be nice to have a spare heli around should you really destroy one or not to shed tears because of how much money you crashed to the ground. I hope this helps and get in touch with me when you buy your Nano (hillpics1@aol.com) and I'll send you some additional information on maintaining it. BTW: If you haven't already done so please subscribe to my channel as I'm always uploading new videos for viewers like you. Thanks for your comment & question. Enjoy!
Willie thank you so much for that wonderful helpful video. I can't tell you I've watched dozens and dozens of videos containing on how to fly collective pitch helicopters and they were useless but yours really seemed to hit it head-on. Okay so here's the scoop with me I bought five helicopters none which I can fly but I went out and bought the wltoys v977 6channel helicopter which is really good and I bought real flight simulator 7.5 now I'm just waiting for my laptop to come in the mail so I'm going to train on those too but you said something about aggressive swashplate Maneuvers I really want to learn more about that.
This has to be one of the most comprehensive RUclips tutorial video on any subject I've seen. Very well done, sir!
Enjoy!
@@PAW6110 Happy to do it. Cool video.

Enjoy!
Older MacBook air, just doesn't have the processing speed
Brandon Bass Ok. That's too bad because a flight sim is a big help in learning how to fly better as well as an aid to practicing new maneuvers.
Mike, those are some great modification tips. Hopefully new readers will take advantage of what you have commented.
Simon, thanks a lot for checking out my channel and leaving a comment. I hope you become a subscriber. Enjoy!
I can consider Willie a mentor. Thanks for the huge amount of beginner information! If I may, I would suggest flying your little heli over grass and instead of pavement. The crashes will be far less damaging!
***** Thanks for kind words and I glad the information as been useful to you. Indeed, grass is more forgiving than pavement or a gym floor.
Michael, thanks for stopping by my channel and leaving a comment.
Thanks
Hey, thanks for stopping by the channel and leaving a comment. All of your comments are right on target. Take care and keep flying.
a thin layer if epoxy painted on with a small brush works really well on the canopy , and I also glued 2 small carbon fibre rods from the tail rod to the landing skid and it stopped my tail wobble
Great Tips, Willie, thank you! I should have gone to bed half an hour ago, but i just had to try your beginners setup :-)
First time flying in the living room without shaving any plants or chairs! Great, just great!
I was about to sell that little devil... now I'm going to buy more batteries :-)
Thank you so much!
Now I will look for an interface for the DX7s for my laptop for sim practice.
www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l2632&_nkw=real+flight+rc+simulator&_sacat=2562
A good tip for people with the stock DX4 controller.. If you dont like the throttle stick to have clicks, you can open it up and make the throttle stick nice and smooth... Way easier to keep a level hover now... Makes it feel like blade msr, mcx controller.
Hey, thanks for the tip. Hopefully, folks will read this comment and benefit from it. Stay in touch.
JUST WANTED TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO. learned more for you then watching hundreds of other videos Thank you.
(Using The Dx6i)
Damm Great Heli , I Mean this is my Firs Flybarless ,before i had some Cheaper Koaxial , The last 3 Weeks i read an AMOUNT of Tutorials , Reviews etc .
If you haven’t already done so

Willie
Willie,
Very well done. I have went from a Blade mCX straight to the Nano cPX, mainly because they use the same batteries.
I have named my Nano "The Evil Spawn" - LOL. But I am getting longer and longer flight times every time I fly her.
Thanks again,
Mad Mark
Mad Mark You're welcome. Both brands are very good batteries to own.
Check out this link if you're interested in upgrading: www.ebay.com/itm/Great-Planes-RealFlight-RF-X-Flight-Simulator-w-Interlink-X-Con-Windows-7-8-10-/302119650008?hash=item4657bc02d8:g:d9AAAOSwUEVYESj5
The Align T-Rex helis are great. I have two Blade 450Xs & one Align 450 and the Align is my favorite because of its quality and smoothness. The V911 is also a great micro CP heli to train on. The only problem is the main gear and bearing can pop off or lost. Enjoy! and I hope u become a subscriber.
i did subscribe. Thanks for sharing the R/F sim Willie. Much appreciated. That will suit me well. Thanks for your reply and valuable info.
Correction : The V977 is the heli I meant.
This is definitely the most helpful video I have seen, and it has helped me decide which helicopter I should purchase. Thanks!
+Thomas Lo Sciuto Thomas, thanks for the comment. Also, I want you to consider what I've posted in this link as well: ruclips.net/video/LhdYNOsIDjs/видео.html
+Willie Hill, Jr
Thanks for the info Willie! I ended up going with the nano cps paired with a dx6i and I am very happy with it. Thanks again for the video!
+Thomas Lo Sciuto You are welcome my friend.
Clarence, thanks for stopping by the channel and leaving a comment. What type bird are you flying 4ch with? Enjoy!
Great! Glad you were able to work things out. I appreciate you subscribing to my channel.
wow, really nice of you to take the time to put together such a great instructional video.
Fantastic!!!!! Explained a lot for me. Hard part for me was setting up the radio on my DX7....real pain in the arse!!
+Gary Sangapore Gary, thanks for the compliment and I hope you become a subscriber because I usually upload several videos a month for viewers like you. Also, I do have a document with my Nano settings if you want me to send it to you for a comparison. Give me your email address. Enjoy!
Thanks again for another insightful instruction video. As you said, to the point! This will help when I'm learning fly the Blade series.
Darrin, I appreciate the comment and you'll be pleased by sticking with the Blade line of helis. I know I am.
Enjoy!
Willie, just wanted to compliment you on your videos...very well produced and informative.
James, thanks for your comment & for checking out my channel. I have several new videos I'll be posting, so I hope you become a subscriber.
+Bruinz Fan I own the Phoenix and RF7 Sims and the RF7 is my favorite. Check it out as well.
Thanks! Great video. Wish I had seen this when I first started with the Nano. My goal is to eventually fly the larger birds. This will help a lot .
Thanks for the links, your videos are really helpful and come across as someone who's genuinely out to help others, steve.
I have a brand new blade 400 from 2007, I learned to hover it and its been in the box for 10 years. now I'm ready to try on this because i'll have a crutch. thanks for the info on self leveling. this little heli might be my practice heli for 3d. I subbed
If it will bind to my dx6i i'm good. man it's not my birthday but thanx 4 this gift
Yes I did subscribe to your channel, Look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you.
Great information! I'm going to binge watch all your videos now. Subbed
Thanks for the compliment and I'm glad ur a subscriber. I have plenty more videos I'm currently working on for future uploading.
Hi Willie,
Would you care to comment a bit on the "Nano X Grim Reaper".
Enjoy!
From this video,I decided to subscribe.thanks for what you've posted
Bau, thanks for subscribing and I've glad you like my channel. Stay in touch & let me know if there's anything I can help you with.
I have the dx6e and thos wasnt listed in the settings so i just put it in there guessing. ..works but no throttle hold and had a bad reciever. .wouldnt bind right..re soldered reciever on and then it worked..mine was new old stock..so i couldnt get my money back...flying awsome
Jake, thanks for the comment and for checking out my channel. I hope you become a subscribing and return to view new videos. Enjoy!
could you make a video with tips on how to learn collective pitch when coming from the msr or 120 sr
Enjoy!
wow great info. wish I'd watched this before I've had my nano for 4 months .
Andy, thanks for your comments. Hopefully, you were still able to glean some tips that were useful. Enjoy! And please subscribe to my channel if you'd like to follow new monthly uploads.
Great video wille, very helpful and educational, look forward to learning with you, many thanks wille
hey willie thanks for the video I am learning to fly my nano cpx thanks a lot for the tips and the pros and cons I have a lot to learn
Todd Simmons Todd, thanks for your comment and welcome to the select group of Nano CPX pilots who were willing to take the challenge. I wish you the best during your adventure. Let me know if there's anything I can help you with.
Todd Simmons Sure thing. Stick with it and practice as much as possible on the sim and in real flight and you'll see good results in a few months.
Very nice video! I'm quickly becoming a fan! Thank's for sharing your knowledge and time.
Take care.
Thank you for the reply! I got it on Friday the 19th :) A Kds Chase 360 which flies fantastic! Looking forward to the new video
+Eddie Solomons Eddie, I appreciate ALL of your comments and I'm pleased that you've gained some great information from watching. Enjoy!
Great information for us beginners, thank you very much for the video!
Dave, you're welcome and thanks for leaving a comment. I hope you become a subscriber to the channel. Enjoy!
Chris, thanks for your comment & additional input on the subject of CP training. Enjoy!
Still super nervous about my first flight but this video gave me some good confidence thru your info so thank you sir👍
Enjoy!
Using rf9 simulator with an xbox controller at the moment until the control comes with the unit so i hope it gets easier with the correct controller
***** You're welcome and don't forget to put in as much simulator time as actual flying time.
Funny you should mention that. I am flying a 450 in Phoenix 5 at the moment! Thanks again. All my stuff was fixed pitch, so this takes some getting used to. Having a blast though, thanks again!
***** One day it will come to you and you'll never look back! Stay consistent and try to fly (sim or actual) everyday.
Will do sir, thanks!
Willie Hill, Jr I watched the throttle hold video, and use it. I can hover tail in and tail out is good. I've always had issues side on, so I'm working on that now. CP is a blast, I wish I hadn't waited so long now... Thanks again!
Hello New subscriber here. Retired ch47 crew chief here. I'm glad I found you.
informative and accurate in relaying the learning basics of one of the more amazing hobby genres i like to refer to RC aerial acrobatics. seeing collective pitch crafts for the first time blew my mind and were the original "hook" that got me emersed in what has now progressed to drone sport.
Fin, thanks for checking out my channel and leaving your comment. It sounds like you have traveled the same journey that I'm currently pursuing. I hope you become a subscriber to the channel. Enjoy!
Excellent video Willie and I have subscribed to your channel.
There's no good fix for this repair, so you've done the best that you could do. I'm not sure if even epoxy can make this a permanent fix.
Chad, thanks for confirming the points in this video and I appreciate you subscribing to the channel. Enjoy!
The Nano is a handful, but man when you get a handle on it, its Addicting.
Jeremy Vonk That's the absolute truth.
I spent 220 yesterday on a Blade 400, and the DX6I transmitter, I`m having to study to figure this setup out cause its advanced compared to the basic RTF model trans I got, but I should be able to adjust the heli so its worth it.
Check out this link: ruclips.net/video/PBXxAnSZWuc/видео.html
Jeremy Vonk Check out the Blade 400 Bible...
Congrats! Keep going...it gets better.
man # I am so glad that I subscribe to your chanel. there is a ton of learning in your videos on helicopters and quads that you make easily understood. you have saved me Time, Money and Discouragement! I have yet to purchase a helicopter but for darn sure I plan to follow up in your foot steps. many thanks. ! ! :)
you make easily understood
John, my man, I'm grateful to be of help to you and thousands of other persons who are just getting into remote control modeling. It's a great hobby! I'm still learning too...
Cool :)
Enjoy!
Thank you Willie for the informative, easy to watch video......subscribed!
+fast phil Thanks for viewing my video and subscribing.
Thank you for making them
I enjoyed the video. I'm going to try your recommended settings.
William, thanks for your comment and I think you will find the settings to be a good starting point. Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Excellent video Willie. I'm in the process of watching your other videos. I've become a subscribed fan.
+Dan Dixon Hey, Dan, welcome to my channel and thanks for subscribing. If there is any help I can give you you know where to reach me. Enjoy!
You are awesome, thank you. I would thoroughly enjoy hanging out with you sometime to absorb all you know of helicopters
Currently (Jan 15, 2015) it's on sale: us.banggood.com/wh_buy/Usa/V977.html
Enjoy!
thank you, will look into that
Thank you for your answer and have a nice time flying yours helis:)
I spray my canopy AND landing skids with spray on plasti-dip, That stuff adds tons of durability to these two weak points!
Cool. Sounds like a good tip.
Great video... very informative. I am trying to decide what to move up to and am thinking of the Nano. Flying it on the flight simulator for practice!
Daryl, you didn't mention which helicopter you might be upgrading from, but since posting this video I believe that I have discovered the perfect heli for a beginner to start CP training on in the V977: ruclips.net/video/LhdYNOsIDjs/видео.html
The V977 is so smooth in flight and it's brushless motor can handle collective inputs with no hesitation.
@ 2:49Willie you're keepin it real!Subscribed!
Enjoy!
+Willie Hill, Jr Yes sir!,that seems like a sensible plan to avoid unnecessary carnage, keep the videos coming Willie!😉
Check out this link for a flight simulator for your iMac: store.steampowered.com/app/434030/
I hope this helps.

Your video is very well made with great details and organization. Thank you!
+Paul Marshall Paul, you're welcome and I appreciate the comment. I hope you subscribe to the channel. I try to post 1-2 new videos per month. Enjoy!
Here's a link you can check out: aeroflyrc.com/requirements.html
450X BNF: I believe the reason that I moved up so quickly to this size heli was because of the amount of time that I put in with the Blade 120 SR (FP), the Nano CPX, and the Phoenix simulator.
Mr Willie I will have mine tomorrow . Please show me the set up om the tramnsmitter
+mike hundley Mike, are you talking about setting up the heli or the simulator?
Thanks 4d info. I love my nano cpx. Cheers!
Ben, I appreciate your comment and I'm a Nano lover too although lately my 450X has kinda taken over my flying time.
Very informative and complete lessons. Thanks.
James, I appreciate the comment and it was a pleasure to make this video so that other heli pilots could learn from my experience.
I don't know why, but sometimes it seems
that YT delays posting comments and yours just came online today.
However, I think I posted a reply directly to you through your channel.
If not, let me know and I will answer your question
This video is getting old... but I really enjoyed it... Excellent presentation!! Thank You!
Sorry for the delay in thanking you for your comment. I appreciate your words and hope you become a subscriber. Enjoy!
Thanks Willie for your help. I fly planes . But these helis are a little different
Enjoy!
Willie Hill, Jr Thank you so much for all of your help! I subscribed and look forward to learning more from you in the future!
P.J. R.C. helicopter lover Send me Ur email address at: hillpics1@bellsouth.net and I will go into more detail for you.
Willie Hill, Jr ok
here it goes.
