- Hey everyone! Today, I'm going to be testing out how different texture packs affect FPS! There isn't really any accurate testing on RUclips done on this subject so I hope this video clears up a lot of misconceptions people have about texture packs and FPS. Enjoy!

"FPS" packs are bound to help you a little more on lower end systems from what I can gather through my testing, however please understand that the difference isn't huge. There are a ton of other things you can do to your PC that will probably help considerably more, watch my FPS boosting tutorial if you all are interested!

You should've used the default minecraft texture pack as a control.

I loved how you tested these, actually giving a visual to how packs affect fps and that packs don't "Boost" fps.

Packs boost fps he didnt turn of the sky and the 256x pack had 16x blocks lmao that wasnt accurate test
@@VictorStats Packs don't "boost" the fps since they aren't doing anything to increase beyond capacity, the point is that higher resolution packs can be harder to render, causing a decrease in fps. And the minor things such as turning off skies or high res blocks would come to the same conclusion.
@@VictorStats most 256x pvp packs only have some 256x items tho but yeah good point it wasn't a fair test I agree
they technically boost fps if they have less pixels per block then the vanilla version. meaning your computer doesnt have to render as many pixels, meaning more frames are able to be pushed through
So basically:
High end pc's aren't really affected by "FPS" packs.
Low end pc's are affected by "FPS" packs.
Finally someone who understands
how do i know if my pc is high end or low end? is there a middle ground?

it depends on resolution of the texture
The thing is if u are near lava in 16x and in 256x
Texture packs with higher resolution: Reduces FPS
Texture packs with lower resolution: Can provide more FPS but can fluctuate

i did a bit of testing my self.. i have a bad pc and what i have noticed was the more custom textures there was the more the fps would dip including on 1x packs. using higher res packs i did get lower fps the higher the res was. so if u like getting higher fps and still want good fps use packs that have very little custom textures and optimize ur pc (intel has a vid about that lol)

Yes, they do. As someone who plays bedwars on 30 fps at best, seeing 60 fps once in a while with the 16x pack is really nice.
They should theoretically be almost exactly the same, the reason that the 16x always does so well, is because that is minecraft'a default so it is easier on the game
Actually, minecraft's default is 32x.

They do because I use the default pack and I get around 500 fps but when I use a pack I drop to like 200

Same. Problem is it goes over my herz on my monitor, so I use whatever texture pack as long as it isn't below 144hz
OmNi J you can go over 144
You should have used the same pack but with different resolution as each of the packs you used had different amounts of edited textures which will change the size of the pack. Usually 16x packs won’t cause higher FPS than higher res packs unless the file size is smaller.
I usually get 120fps but now after i used a texture pack I get max 60fps

1. In Optifine + Minecraft’s logs tell you that they upscale lower than 16x textures anyways. So a 1x1 packs will probably give you diminishing returns when compared to a 16x custom pack.
2. 16x packs actually decrease FPS by as far as I could tell around 20%. I tested this with a default edit if you wanted to know.
I honestly think your videos are much more detailed and very informative compared to most others, and its sad to that your videos are not getting a million views. People be sleeping on the wrong channel.

I don't use PVP texture packs out of sheer preference
The only packs that I use are my personal overlay (which is just transparent/custom inventory and low fire) and OCD

hi intel nice video i have a question for the 1x1 texture pack which minecraft version do you need?
Conclusion: Use a 64x64 texture pack. The increase in fps isn't noticeable going from 64x to 16x while the texture difference is. Same goes for the 256x one where the texture difference isn't noticeable while the fps difference is. 64x gives the best of both worlds.

Hey Intel, I’ve been watching all of your pvp vids and tutorials. I love them, but here’s the thing. When I first played MC it was on my Mom’s old laptop right? So I would PREFER the trackpad. This led to the issue I need advice on: I put my thumb on control to sprint and cross over my hand for wasd (middle finger on w, pointer on d). Is this good enough or should I re learn my hand placement?
Im not intel, but anyone can tell you that youe hand placement is so wrong.
You should use your left hand to press wasd (middle finger on W, pointer on D etc), use your pinky to hold ctrl or shift, and right hand for mouse.

I used to play with a 8x8 "FPS boost" pack when I played PVP on my laptop. With this pack I actually had an FPS increase of about 40% compared to the vanilla textures.

For a better evaluation, I'd suggest using the default textures as a control to see if the texture packs change a lot from the original pack.

When I popped this texture pack on, I went from 600 to 60-120ish.

Hey, im really late here, but i'd recommend putting the fps meters in the center, so it's easier to see all of them and compare.
do you use a block overlay or maybe a Sky overlay?
It really affects fps, i tried so much texture packs and what i find great for my laptop is 16x and 32x packs, timedeos revamp gave less fps than the old pack. i also tried technoblade and gb80's pack and they both got great fps boosters. Eli's(Intel Edit's) texture packs are also good like his overlay gave a few more fps with technoblade and gb80's texture packs.
What I found is that I can use a high-resolution pack as long as the blocks are 16x (like using a block overlay) and still get the same fps as using a 16x pack.
How did you made tihs effect of textures packs?

Hey do you know if there is a way to see if a texture pack is 16x or 32x and etc. like is there a way to see the “x” of the texture pack? Thanks, I would really like to know because I have some texture packs that don’t tell me the “x” of them.
Also. Its important to consider the blocks resolution. Having a pack with 512x swords and 16x blocks (like many do) won't lower your fps as much as having a 512x items and blocks pack.

For me there's no point cut i have a 144hz monitor, but my fps goes so much higher than that, so I can use whatever texture packs I really want to, as long as it doesn't really go below my herz

If I can launch blc You should be able to run lunar and lunar give more FPS bc lunar has less mods
