Mark and Huck are such a beautiful team
O
This is soooo AWESOME! Mark is GENUINE mountain. He's not changed a bit in 30 yrs. Still looks and sounds the same. Congrats on your show!
Takes a country boy to spin three negatives in a sentence. "I ain't seen no sign of nobody being in here." Right there I knew I was home.
Well said sir..m 🤣🤣🤣
this is one of the funniest things i’ve ever read
He meant ..."ain't not nobody been here" .
Makes sense when you use 3. 😉
Coulnda sait that there better myself
No wonder a stoner like me likes watching these mountain men we have an appreciation for nice pots
i like the way you think
I run beer through a primary and secondary fermentation and it makes rocket fuel!
Try running a keg of your fav beer.
Makes damn good shine
Distilling is a different process. FTA territory
Can I get some more details on how this is done ?
@Sonny McDonald I’ve made cookies harder to make then thermite and napalm which also has nothing to do with rocket fuel
rocket fuel is hydrogen peroxide like the stuff in the brown bottle only high test 98% not 3%
I'm so glad for the subs in these videos. My English is quite good understanding/talking/writing for it not being my native language but without the subs i can't make heads or tails out of some things they say.
Hearing any kind of accent especially heavy ones sou d like an alien I watch doctor who with subs on 🤣
Thats just what we sound like in appalachia. Thick accents abound
You think they’re hard to understand, you should come down here to south Louisiana. I’ve lived here my whole damn life and still can’t understand some of the old folks I’ve known since birth. They tell me it’s English, but it damn sure ain’t the queens English.
@@southerntrendkiller2632 Yeah weird how that works. Where i live if i drive for 15 minutes i get to a town that i can't understand most of the people either because of some weird dialect.
I always feel dumb when I watch these hillbilly dudes out creating these stills, using more math and geometry than I could ever dream of understanding and applying, and then they say "it's the best water there are", and it kind of evens out the playing field.
It’s not rocket science brother believe me it’s not hard
Josh, "It's the best water THEY are" meaning there is very little to no iron in it and it usually ran off a mountain with a lot of limestone it it. That water is usually clean and not acidic. Also, beware anybody who says "It's not rocket science" if they try to make any. They'll end up making methanol, fusel and probably solder joints with lead solder... The whole process involves much more troubleshooting the mash batch than anything.
you can eye ball it if you really needed too.. not physics or anything like that
they've actually given a scientific explanation for the water as well it's natural limestone spring water used to make liquor because it will make a better mash due to PH
I happen to be from East Tennessee and lived just down the road from Thunder Road. I will tell you from experience that anyone can make something, but few can make something that is truly art! There is shine and then there is SHINE!!! I personally made beer before diabetes put a stop to all alcohol consumption. I can tell you that talk is cheap and the proof is in the shine. Get it!
This must be such a peaceful and happy way of life.
Respect for camouflaging even the plastic tubs.
I've watched so many of these that I almost don't need subtitles for Mark.
Mark's accent is THE accent people do when impersonating a resident of Appalachia.
i had to quit drinking ... i developed an allergy to alcohol ...
every time i drank i would break out .... in handcuffs.
the importantvthing is not to mix. Driving and drinking produce handcuff effect. keep these ingredients far rar away from each other
@@ztyy8185 i never got a DUI, but i did wake up on my front lawn (where someone pushed me out of their car) more than once, having no idea where my car was, or who brought me home .....
See a doctor immediately
@@83delgado i did. i told him i wanted a second opinion. he said to come back in a week and he'd give me one. when i went back, he said "you're ugly"
You a friend of bill???
Love seeing that "red" mud as I was born and raised two counties East.
He just Phil swifted that bucket😂
I think Mark Rogers is the only shiner that requires closed caption. When he says 'liquor' it sounds like 'lacquer'.
Why did they take the "worm in it" from 4:01 and also splice it in at 4:13? Lmao
I love that guitar lick...
The gold belly commercial the sandwich called the “bomb” that plays before every episode looks absolutely delicious.
Use app called Adblock ... no more annoing ads
@@paulipoika but how would I have ever known about gold belly and their sandwiches without the add
Mark is a awesome guy.....
When I found out they have licenses it didn't take the mystique away it just made me respect them not going commercial.
Not going commercial? They are on TV haha.. it’s super hard and expensive to go ligit and market it and comply with the FDA amd all that crap.. why do that when you’re on a tv show..
@@derekrohan9619 😂😂 an astute observation. I never thought about that.
They dont have 'licenses' to operate a bootleg still. It's a TV dramatization.
That's about the only way they're staying outta jail with this show being on TV
@@darthnihilus3447 its fake dude......
I love their ingenuity & of course the accents👍🏽
No matter what your business is, there's always a market for shine 😎
never mind the whiskey, this guys diverted water like a god lol
I think mark and huck are the only two they use subtitles for lol
my dad is actually very close with Mark and i’ve actually been to this site. we stayed at marks cabin up in the hills of Graham county and about 50 yards out in the woods was this site. neat stuff. Mark and Huck are not actors either btw!
Bruh... shhh
DAG NABBIT! Why don’t you just draw a durn map!? 🤣
Im waiting for the producers to say that the moonshine is 260 proof
Use a series of thumpers to do this in one shot. The thumpers can also be used to add flavors if you put candy or fruits in it to impart flavor.
The other way to raise proof is to just run it twice. This is what they are doing, if you gradually increase the heat you dont need to run it twice.
I was thinking the same thing. They prolly just drag it out for the episode
these guys and richard should do something together, theyre both the creative ones
Am I the only one who thinks 170 proof alcohol that tastes smooth is a bad idea
someone in my family makes moonshine and any one of my friends is drunk after 2-3 shots. i dont drink that shit.. smh
170 proof that's not smooth is not drinkable have you ever sneezed up 170 proof ima tell you what u try some rough 170 and you'll ask your self why your drinking drain cleaner
Yes
85% alcohol, no way that can be "smooth". I'd try it though.
It's a TV show. There is no way to get 85% ethanol with that setup. But, if you speak with confidence, you'd be amazed at what BS people will believe.
These guys are the best team. Reminds me of pop corn and jb
the mash only has so much alcohol in it. Distilling will get that in a pure form but if proof goes up amount goes down. it just means you have a little less water in it. You want better shine? get better mash.
Stripping run, then proofing run.👍🤙👍🤙
“New” distillation process
Mark's the man
Build a reflux still and run it once 180 proof
They should look at using induction not a gas burner, there is not hot spots and the still it self heats up making a much more even temp.
Underground still sight would be great
take a shot every time someone says "licker"
It's funny that these guys always have subtitles 😅! They are not THAT hard to understand. I'm swedish and I understand them.
I used to run a reflux still , it would run like 4 times distilled producing 190 proof alcohol. You could run an engine on that stuff. If you want high proof with no flavors run a reflux still !
Yeah, 190 proof is about the highest you can go without another process to remove the last water content to make gasahol. I'm a fan if flex fuel vehicles because of their ability to take E85 that can be made in anyone's back yard
A reflux column is the way to go....better yet is a flute column so you have the option of running fewer plates as a pot still, if you want.
“New distillation process…” 🤣
Never over wet the outside of a mud based mortar, especially when its that thick. Wetting your hands to work the outside is a no go, as the layers dry at different rates they will separate into flake layers and fall apart. The moisture is driven to the outside as it is, if these guys dried this from the inside I can assure you that it lasted one week after filming.
Mud and clay are different
Held on from last season. Had to break it off. Thats acceptable performance for something thats free.
Good thing about that Clay, u can recycle it.
How does a Flake Stand work?
LOVE IT
Last time I Drank " Moonshine" I Lost All my "Key's" to my Life I found them later " Rookie Mistake"!! (SC)
ha ha ha ha yeah you'll find some that'll knock your prick in the dirt and even if you don't have one LMAO
@@oneshotme I should try some of those " RUclips" tutorials on Moonshine or those Crazy Russian Vodca Pressure Cookers, Truthfully I'm more into " Magic Mushrooms" !! (SC)
*170 Proof = 85%! This is going to take a hell of a liver to handle.*
yea but it sure isn't double 110 proof which is what the title and the guy in the video claim its supposed to be, 200 proof is the limit and thats pure ethanol, they claim they can double the alcohol percentage and double the price but they are only increasing the alcohol percentage by little more than 50% thats pretty far off double.
@@King_Flippy_Nips you must be a teenager, all your comments on this video are the definition of ' I have no idea what I'm talking about' followed by 'this title said this so now I'm going to act like they don't know what they're doing and I do'..... LOL helluva an existence
I usually go with 128proof, light you up but damn it only takes 2 little sips and you'll be FLAMED up
Can't wait until the English version comes out
I know this show is fake but it’s getting way easier to spot now hahahaha
Cut a blue bucket for the overflow but it was green when they started the water.
It’s a good thing they’re not actually bootlegging and have a license!!
they make “a lot more money” that way… gotta pay for those weapons for ukraine to sell somehow!
*TO: Anyone currently in Ireland or Scotland related to the "Ulster Scots."* Could you understand them or do you need subtitles.
@The Senate Guard It's spelled 'hence.'
@The Senate Guard Come make me stop. You know where to find me, brit boy.
Pretty damn smart
When the new moonshiners coming back on
The new season is on. Series 9
Plot twist they actually made rubbing alcohol
I wonder if there's ever any work to do around a still?
Fermented grape juice = wine....distilled wine = brandy. These guys are right on the cutting edge. 100% alcohol = 200 proof ! ..... joe
Corn flavored sugar shine 😋
I wonder if that's where the natives got the saying Fire water from. To many of them was getting the rough stuff and none of the good smooth ones.
nice series. but when the old guy open his mouth i cant understand almost anything
Pressure treated wood for troughs?
is this show really still around i havent paid for worthless cable in years
Maybe
Yes it's still going. Must be doing well for the show to keep going with the views it's been getting.
"Smooth" and 170 proof will never go together in my mind 😅
Seament🤣just love those guys.
Alleygator, theeater. 😆
Good
Why would anyone pay 5x+ what you pay for top shelf liquor legally? They claim they sell the stuff for $200 a gallon. I just don't think anyone would be that stupid.
Moonshine is traditionally cheaper because there is no tax applied. Paying 5x the price of premium legal taxed liquor is ridiculous. Then half the time they loose or spill most of their product from dumb mistakes. Top grade moonshine goes for no more than $15 a quart and thats if they deliver it 200 miles across state lines.
This show is about selling dreams.
They pump the stuff through rotten garden hoses from plastic barrels and pvc pipe... YUK! That must taste good.
you know it's not real, right?
Both are wrong did y'all not pay attention the alcohol proof anywhere from 100 to 150 160 the more you run it more the alcohol content and that top shelf you speak of is bs only.80 proof at the most that whitelighting they speak of will run a vehicle and not to mention the mob made more money bootlegging and moonshinning than any other business they were involved in including vegas watch the documentaries
If this show was real all these idiots would be in a federal jail.
@@deezynutz4742 thank you
zach w actually they wouldnt because no one can prove whats in the jars is alcohol and old guys like jim tom and jb rader really did this on the show
I pull 170 all day in my garage. 110 is when I stop 😂
Man! I want a gallon.
Why does Huck need subtitles?hell even mark I can understand him! No subtitles needed for me!
5:05 lmfao
Because you know the sound of chainsaws and power drills is so discreet....
This remind me of movie "outsiders"
Where I grew up ( and you bet I ran booze) Nobody would buy anything but 90% alcohol (180 proof) My dad had a still, but it was too small for commercial. The guys I ran for could deliver anything up to 5000 litres. They would pay fines and replace product if caught, as long as you kept quiet. I was even protected when out drinking, there was a lot of trouble
Snitches get stitches
I laughed at the title “doubles the proof” like how’s that possible if it’s already anything over 100 proof?
@@jakejonas7366 lol, you don't understand how proofs work I take it? You can get 200 proof
@@RamseyEO that would be pure alcohol and kill you genius
@@RamseyEO Water and ethanol form an azeotrope around 192 proof that boils more easily than ethanol or water on their own, so it’s impossible to distill to 200 proof. They also aren’t even using a reflux column, which they would need to distill to azeo in two runs.
How do they know when the heads are done?
Moonshiners: I hope we don't get caught
National tv: 0:11
It's all scripted lol
So they wanna not be seen yet there on national tv show I'm confused
I'm sure I'm not the only one to ask But when are they coming back on? You know they're not worried cause they're in the woods right now
They are making episodes.. Josh posted it on his Instagram
@@terrymay9488 did i?

Wait a dam minute! Thought mark said he don't use propane just wood????? Hmm
I believe the correct way to say it is "chimney" (chimnee)
🤣 I love that this is on discover uk... this is how every single American actually sounds and act in their opinion
He said alawt mo money
Why not do this at home way less hot than the woods lol at least u can watch your home and area
always wondered what uk english speakers would think of their accents
I ran mine 3 times then added the juniper berries let it sit and run it again at xxx*F :-)
drinking georgia moonshine right now...3rd shoot at the moment.
That's called strip and running
7:23. “ best water there are to make moonshine”. There are? Gotta love that country education haha
How is this illegal and they have it airedout on RUclips
It's kinda like how pornstars don't get arrested for prostitution, they still get paid for sex but as long as they film it it's fine and dandy 😂
and murder is legal as long as you have a piece of paper saying you are a government
It's all staged
@@johnandrews4352 no shit sherlock🙃
This is that show they make water on.
150 proof with a fruity or sugar/ cinnamon Apple pie flavor is ideal
According to who?
Fresh spray paint for extra flavor
This is basically teaching me how to make booze.
Eric Hanhauser only if you want an xpensive waste of time. Get a book, don’t watch these idiots.
@@deezynutz4742 it was "sarcasm"🙃🤦♀️
If you live anywhere but have a large freezer you can make liquor.
The still with a freezer takes longer it works good just don't get drunk more than once a month with it.
I use apple juice.
Sometimes banana juice.
Never leave the house.
Great for CHRISTMAS GIFTS.
You know it's fake right? Me no i know but deep down i have faith
Good job this is a tv show, otherwise anyone with a drone with a IR camera on could find these stills😂😅
You shut your dry snitchin mouth. Dont give noone any ideas
Double distillation using stripping runs is New?
In tye beginning I swear that still site looks like the one popcorn Sutton used in Johnny Knox documentary the last run of licker I'll ever make.
They can swap tradeetc its tv. Almost all of them for saké of show have bought à license To produce. they caught jail
@@catheylunsford4461 That was my thoughts exactly.
They have licenses for the areas or wooded locations for their distilling operations. And the so called bootleggers they sell and or give their product to aren't really bootleggers
They are instead hired staff which are actually transporting the alcohol to a legal distributing facility such as "Sugarland."
What do you think? How close am I to being right about this?
170 proof= %85 alcohol...good lord
Why wouldn't you run the first run slow that way it was even smoother the second time rushing it makes it hot and unstable you're not going to get as smooth as a taste
Looks like fuckin' & fightin' fuel👌🏾😎
