I was fortunate to see Tool twice so far. Once after 10,000 days and once after Fear Innoculum. The latter they played a normal set (still awesome) of an amalgam of songs from all of their albums. BUT the first concert is something I will NEVER forget! They came out, no introductions, nothing said at all, and they played 10,000 days. From start to finish. No frills, no words between songs. After they were done, they got up and they left. They never said thank you or anything outside of the lyrics of the album. Amazing. Sucked me in like nothing I have ever seen. ❤
You have to see them live. There is nothing else like it on the planet.
They're doing a full winter tour this year
Unfortunately I missed that train to see them live in their prime. I also really hated discovering helmet and misfits too late in life to go nuts on.
But, I did make up for it a little when I took my baby sister to see Slipknot. I guess it doesn'tatter want you see or when, a concert is something everyone should have on their bucket list to experience ateast once.
Agreed. I didn’t fully appreciate tool until I saw them live.
Yep saw them twice and a APC once. Gotta see puscifer or I'm never gonna be complete
Absolutely agree!
This is an amazing Led Zeppelin cover. I think Maynard really does it justice and the rest of the band make it sound so heavy
You should check out Floater covering Waiting For The Sun. It adds a similar type of heavy to the song as well
I like Tool’s cover, but Led Zeppelin On Celebration Day is my favorite. John Paul Jones really takes it to another level on that last LZ live performance.
Saw them live for the first time last year..I am 55 yrs old and this was ..without a doubt..THE BEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!!
My kinda woman rate here AMEN 🙏🏼
😁😘🤗
I was so blessed to see them perform this song in '97 or '98. Absolutely unreal!!!
They also opened with this song live on Halloween one year dressed as the members of Led Zeppelin
😂
Polo, u gotta make it to a live show my dude! It’s a must. Visuals and the music, are just perfect.
Guess I am still dumbstruck at what Tool creates (30 years on!). And to think, as long as I live their music will exist. Amazing 🤩
It hurts my heart that you haven't seen an actual concert. If Tool is your first concert, you will be forever changed, as I know you already are, by their music.
Thank you for your efforts! If you see Tool live, and have a video response afterward, I think that may end up being one of my most- watched RUclips videos. Just sayin'...
There is video of Maynard flipping a fan that jumps on stage. He holds the guy in a head lock on the floor but keeps singing the whole time.
I've seen Tool live 7 times. Worth it every. Single. Time.
Ill be seeing them for the 3rd time in three straight years this Friday! 🤘🤘🤘
it would help to know the original… a reminder of just how original zeppelin were. and it’s just “quarter”, not “quarters”… it has a meaning. thanks for this though… I didn’t know tool had covered it. I’ll give anything they do a listen.
You need to see them in concert. It makes their music reactions more meaningful cause you can picture them actually singing their music. Their light show is awesome!
My wife and I had VIP tickets in KC, and Adam said that he had a meeting with the crew and thanked them for the hard work they did on the show. The band didn't realize what the show looked like since it was all behind them.
Tool is always amazing in concert. Sound quality is top priority and the visual effects are wild. I truly hope that you get a chance to see them.
It's not a concert. It's a philosophical experience. 🖤🤘
Tool is the natural progression from the awakening that was provided by led zeppelin. The OG is mesmerizing
You have to experience TOOL live.. BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE EVER! I caught them in 2001 on the Lateralus run. it's literally unreal the sound they create live.
You lucky soul, you!
I saw them the very same year. Amazing concert, probably the best I have ever experienced.
@GrogMindwhip was MJK spinning in the dark the whole time? He was on a big turntable next to Mr.Carey ...spinning...singing..in the dark In just a latex speedo
@@chewiex7748 Honestly, I don't remember. I was in a different state of mind, just melding with the music and visuals until we were almost inseparable.
Love it… love it! In my opinion, Tool is a fusion of metal and jazz. In so many of their epic songs, there’s the basic song, but then it’s augmented by terrific instrumental interludes where any of the three musicians may be allowed to shine through soloing, while the others provide rhythm support. I do not see myself ever tiring listening to this band.
Watch the live version of Push it, where the fan gets on stage. Maynard throws him down and sits on him and keeps singing like nothing happens, and he smacks him in the head while singing.
I think after that, Maynard started singing in the background.
It's interesting how many reactors have gone on to see them in concert, having experienced them for the first time on their channel
When I saw Metallica in Detroit at Comerica Park. I was in the highest nosebleeds seats.! Metallica were so tiny, they looked like honey. I shrunk the kids! 😂 It was the LOUDEST Concert I’ve ever been to! Audio was clear as a bell! It was perfect! The big screens helped you see everything! Teeny Tiny Mighty Metallica!! Wooooo!! 😂
Seeing Danny physically groove at the end breakdown is just *chefs kiss*
Tool - No Quarter - term means show no mercy from the knights that fought.
I like this better than Led Zeppelin’s original.
if ever interested in tracking down any one of the many "from a different angle, under a different light" somewhat elusive or subtle threads to the often mysterious purposefully occult ("hidden") lyrical artwork mjk weaves across multiple decades, bands, side projects, disciplines, hobbies, etc... the songs he chooses to cover is absolutely one of them. they are never one-to-one recreations. mjk has a voice, a vision. there is a method (intention) to the madness. decoder like a 3d magic eye, simply compare & contrast...
LED ZEPPELIN VERSION
Close the door, put out the light.
No, they won't be home tonight.
The snow falls hard and don't you know?
The winds of Thor are blowing cold.
They're wearing steel that's bright and true
They carry news that must get through, oooh
They choose the path where no-one goes.
They hold no quarter.
They hold no quarter.
Walking side by side with death
The devil mocks their every step
The snow drives back the foot that's slow
The dogs of doom are howling more
They carry news that must get through
To build a dream for me and you
They choose the path where no-one goes.
They hold no quarter.
They ask no quarter.
They hold no quarter.
They ask no quarter.
The pain, the pain without quarter.
They ask no quarter.
Yeah! Without quarter, quarter, yeah!
They need no quarter.
The dogs of doom are howling more!
I hear the dogs of doom are howling more!
TOOL VERSION
Lock the door, kill the light.
No one's coming home tonight.
The sun beats down and don't you know?
All our lives are growing cold, oh...
They bring news that must get through.
To build a dream for me and you, oh.
Locked in a place where no one goes.
They ask no quarter
They have no quarter.
Lock the door, kill the light
No one's coming home tonight
It's getting colder (7x)
Locked in a place where no one goes.
Lock the door, kill the light
No one's coming home tonight
They bring news that must get through.
Dying peace in me and you
Locked in a place where no one goes.
We have no quarter
We have no quarter
We ask no quarter
No imprisonment i.e. quarters. Death only option.
Hey Polo I love the channel. If you ever get the time for yourself check out the 92 Philly tool show. About an hour long, but a super small club with the band cramped into a corner playing hard and raw. To me this is the band slowing down as in a breather, Maynard dressed as a Storm Trooper off in the shadows. And near the end Tool returns their speed and power to the already iconic song.
You have to see them live. Its not an option. The energy at their shows is amazing.
I was at both San Diego shows! Was lucky enough to sit 5th row Adams side and side stage Adams side. Scored his setlist. Glad you watched this. 🤘🏻🌀
Bonus Tool on a Sunday, What a Beautiful treat to starting a new week xo
I love the Tool version, but the original is just as good. :)
The live Led Zeppelin version is better. It's pretty damn hard to top LZ live.
You gotta see them live dude. Another insane live band is Dave Matthews Band. Just like Danny, Carter Buford is a monster behind the drums. Trippin billies, crush and Satellite are some of my favorites. Thank you POLO!!!
Amazing as usual
I remember seeing the four tops at Disney in Florida and we were about four rows back it sounded so good
First song I ever saw Tool perform live. This same tour in New Orleans.
Magic.
literal black magick
Polo, have you never heard the original from Led Zeppelin? You should give the original studio version a listen so you can see where Tool got its inspiration from. Also, bear in mind that at the time the original version was conceived and laid down, it was totally new and way ahead of its time. Consider how it rocks you today, imagine it slapping you in the face 50 years ago out of nowhere!!
Check out No Quarter, Led Zeppelin Live 1973 Madison Square Garden
Would love to be able and go to the Power Trip Festival this summer...Tool, Metallica, AC/DC, Ozzy, Iron Maiden & GnR all heading over 3 days. The tickets are a touch above my pay grade 😂
“Walky-talky” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is the song I'm watching this for the first time with you brother
There is (or used to be on here) a live version of this from a Halloween concert where they came out as Led Zeppelin. It was great. IIRC, it was the first time they had done it in a concert in like a decade.
Edit - the Video is still up here on RUclips as of the time of this post, which is great to see. Apparently i had commented on it 2 years ago as well, so that should say something. Check it out after finishing Polvo's reaction.
Fantastic! I'm going to be checking that out. Thanks!
There is only the live version of this song from Tool, It's the same thing you reacted to before
Nope. Their cover of No Quarter which appears on the Salival tape/CD is a studio recording. It is not a live recording, unlike most of the other tracks on Salival.
Do the Salival Live 3rd Eye video. Best performance video on the internet 😊
Edit: There is no other experience like TOOL live. You MUST see them.
The Salival version is for The 4 Runner
No excuses bro. Got to go to a live performance. No experience compares to a Tool concert! Took 30 years, but I finally got to see them last year and I'm still trying to process it all.... Going again next month to see them at the Sonic festival in Columbus Ohio!
Saw them play No Quarter in 1997. Incredible!
Seeing them live 12 times 13 in November 20th, 2023 hardcore army member since 1990 I remember them before they were called T♡♡L I use to listen to them as Green Jelly with Maynard & Carey together
Not real big on bands covering Zeppelin, but if it's TOOL, hell yeah. I bought this when it came out roughly twenty years ago, wasn't the live version though. It was playing on our local rock station and I immediately went to the local Best Buy and bought it. Even this live version is great.
reminder to people, A Perfect Circle covered "When the Levee Breaks"
@@soth1sol Did not know that, I'll have to check it out for sure. I've been a TOOL fan since I saw them live in the late 90's. I know about Maynard's other projects, including A Perfect Circle, but didn't know they covered that Zep song, Levee is one of their hardest pounding songs. Zep is right up there with TOOL for me when it comes to some of the greatest bands ever. Good call, checking it out today.
Edit: Just checked it out and now I remember why I forgot it... It's decent, but only if I'm in the mood for something like soft rock or Jazz. lol
@@MacMc691 lol, yeahhh ...fairrr. definitely more of a "rendition" (or what puscifer/mjk himself has been calling "re-imagining"s) than "cover". covers need to match not just the song, but energy at least.
no quarter
idiom
literary
: no pity or mercy
-used to say that an enemy, opponent, etc., is treated in a very harsh way
The soldiers showed/gave no quarter to the enemy.
Yeah, man need to see them live for sure.
Thank you so much!!! I also prefer the studio version because of the audio quality as you said. Actually dug that up and found it I hadn't seen it before. I'm sure some of the fans here will remember you may not, I know you do a lot of reactions. I'm a creator who does not near the catalog you have and I know the stress of it sometimes
But you did ask when you heard the studio version, that Danny did do a good job on the pneuma drum cam and if anyone could find it that you would love to see the drum cam of Danny on No Quarter 🌀🌀🌀
So I found it for you my friend. Also I love that you opened up the Discord for Patrons. Without overstepping boundaries I'll be glad to help anyone there with any questions they have as I'm familiar with it. Again thank you
I still love to support good creators!🔧🌀🔧🌀🔧🌀✌️& ❤
That's pretty good Thanks for sharing.👍
I met Danny years ago when Pygmy Love Circus opened for APC at a small venue in DC. Danny is a big dude for sure. I'm 6'3" and he made me feel small.
Best cover of that song ever
Listen to the Salival version. Much clearer.
Straight 🔥
Polo! You have to go see somekind of a concert... The feel and the energy in concerts is amazing. You get the real deal. Of course it's not like albums, but you get the true sense of how amazing a band is in it's raw form. 🤯
Nose bleeds aren't the best, but you can get decent seats at an ok price in mid range sections of a venue (depends on the band though.
I'm booked for Gojira, Mastodon and Lorna Shore this Summer and I can't wait! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
This was cool. Definitely go see them Polo.
You do know that No Quarter is a Led Zeppelin song, I hope. Just found you tonight. I love your reactions and your content is great!! I just subscribed.
Dang I was just about to go to bed but I also love the song I have to stick around for a few more minutes
So good! :)
10:22 mark the camera guy finally locates Maynard in the shadows 😂
I am happy you're going through this trip
This is a Led Zeppelin tune covered by Tool
“You Lied” is another cover you should check out, it’s from Justin’s original band Peach
Really hope you get to see them live. The put on a great show. The live internet videos really don't do them justice IMO.
They are better live than on recording!
Polo the version you reacted to was also live. No studio versions exist
Being in a concert definitely feels different, even with crappy seats. Well maybe if its super crappy seats (depends on the venue) then it might not be as good. Most of my concerts have been great, even when I went to see sliptknot for the first time and my glasses fell off my head (good luck finding it on the floor) and I couldn't see. (I actually found them by miracle as we all left, trampled on lol).
If this is kc 2016, I was front row
Tool had mind bending videos that were the type of things I used to see in my dreams.
But I like a perfect circles, Judith which is the same classic style.
All fuckin right
You have become the voice of kickass reactions
Making eitables for 4/20
With some delicious nugs and shrooms and your honesty is part of this dish
In colo both mj and shrooms are legal
Saying you are allowed to make choices on how you want to expand yourself is ok,legal and encouraged.
Thank you
you have to listen to pushit(salival version)the second half of it is an absolute sonic facemelter of epic proportions, also should have listened to the salival version of no quarter instead
been suggesting it forever (aloke dutta, on tablas, is an alien)
@@soth1sol unreal soth, they're all top of their game but adam's performance on that is off the fucking scale
That sound on his guitar is a Boss Flanger model BF-2 and sometimes he adds a wah pedal....heavily uses a volume pedal for his dynamic sound and 40% delay at 500ms. lol I play there songs.
You should listen to some Led Zeppelin-pretty music ch anything they do. They’re icons. But if you like the slow start of No Quarter, try “Ten Years Gone”
A Flanger pedal effect is used on guitar , Improvisation is everything in concert
Polo 🤯😊
Money saving tip: See Tool for your first concert you'll never need to go see anyone else, no one is better. Save some money that way
I got here Quick
POLO!! Got one for you! Ready? Here goes.... The band is: Return to Forever. The album [CD!!] is: Romantic Warrior. And the song is: the very first one on the album called: "Medieval Overture".
You just gotta' listen to this tune. The Musicianship is worth the price of Admission, POLO!!
Unfortunately, Chick Corea, leader & Keyboard player, is no longer with us, sadly. And what a lifetime & career he's had, for sure!!
Anyway, checkout "Medieval Overture", my Friend, 0k? Please? Thank you, POLO!!
~ s.
This is great but nothing beats Zeppelin!
No quarter=no mercy, no quarters=no money.
In honor of my birthday and Maynard’s birthday tomorrow you should move Toolsday to Monday 😂 (and do Third Eye)
Maynard is not camera shy like the grateful Dead that play many many concerts live he believes if he is behind the speakers he can produce better sound😢
Listen to TOOL'S cover Demon Cleaner. It is very good cover!
The no quarter from Salival Was a live version? Am I wrong? The whole album was live..... pushit.... You have never even checked out/ reviewed third eye have you?
Bro, appreciate your channel. Gotta give creds to the original artist when reviewing covers!
This is great because it's not an exact cover. The best covers are where an artist or band put their unique stamp on a song.
Dressed like RoboCop lol...they did a Halloween show with a version of them dressed as their respective members of Led Zeppelin
Check out Neil peart drum solos I believe this is definitely Danny's inspiration
Get to a Tool show ASAP..
Amazon link still doesn't work.
Sic sic sic sic sic
Better than the Led Zeppelin version.
um nooooo.
It's Tool's version and it's excellent, better than LZ's....not in a million years!!!
One can not experience Tool live unless actually present at an actual live performance of Tool. Video just doesnt do it justice.
Recommend "You Lied" for next Toolsday.
Oh man has he listened to Pushit yet? If so has he listens to Pushit live? Oh man can’t wait
Should have done the mid 90's version (the one where Maynard is wearing a bra).
Oh I thought this might be the led Zeppelin no quarter you might check that one out too
One of the greatest covers ever. Check out Led Zepplin live version
I know of no other version than a live version. I guess it's the visuals that you didn't SEE because No Quarter is a live Tool song - period.
Love your reactions but No Quarter is a Led Zeppelin song that Tool covered. No Quarters is an issue you run into at the laundromat.
