I’ve used this bag for the past 7 months for work and travel. I have the charcoal color way which has the recycled nylon material. While it’s great, I feel like it shows dust and dirt a little easier than the other colors probably would. The front pockets also are positioned so that they catch dirt and grime. If you overfill this back it does lose its shape at the shoulder strap attachment points. I have not been able to get it back to it’s original shape but it’s not a huge deal Overall it’s a fantastic bag that punches above it’s weight in terms of capacity. I’ve been able to fit a 16” laptop, Sony headphones, EDC items, and a Ronin gimbal in this bag. Quite impressive to say the least.
That 3 seconds closeup of you feeling the bag cracked me up a bit - but thank you for this video! It really made me click Checkout on the system work bag sitting in my cart :) Now it's just the decision on whether Blue or Grey.... grr!
I got mine for Christmas and used it every day since then, i absolutely love it. I got the charcoal one which is from recycled material and i think its really nice made, also the shoulder strap is really firm so its nice to carry even if you carry heavier things. The inside pockets are really good organized but the water pocket is my favorite one, i have my S'well bottle in there so it really keeps it organized. The only downside is that the bag does not stand completely upright when you sat it down. But all in all i would totally recommend it and thank you Rushfaster for this really good and detailed review of the product.
I must say my friend the thumbnails are on point.. very nice review as well I really like bellroy products it’s just that these aren’t available in India...
Really good review, I own the system work bag and it’s easily my favourite (just to note I’ve owned a couple of Bellroy briefs and found them a little small) just to elaborate a couple of points; - the one handed opening mechanism is something I never knew I needed, but it’s really useful on the go, can easily walk about and open / close it if I have too - I’ve also used this bag for a couple of 1 or 2 day business trips, the 16ltr capacity can easily fit a couple of shirts along with essentials. Plus it doesn’t look out of place when heading to meetings (quite the opposite) - the bags clip is also expandable if you need to fit more in, they mention it on the site but it’s sort of hidden - finally if I were to critique the bag I would say they’ve gone a pocket heavy on the inside, the two inner pockets aren’t needed and personally I would prefer the extra storage, the interior pop out pockets for water bottles / umbrellas etc is a nice touch. I know ppl that are put off by shape, the bulky magnetic opening and the price, I think from a practicality aspect it’s well worth it.
@@scaz83 I'm thinking of getting one, but only if an A3 folio of about 33.5 x 43.5 cm in size can fit. Do you think such a folio could fit in the messenger?
Bellroy says it fits up to a 15" MacBook so it's a bit hard to tell whether or not the new 16" will fit. It might be something to reach out and contact Bellroy with for more info. Hope that helps. - Ed
Are all these styles of bags made with recycled materials? I just received a black one and it had tags claiming it was made with recycled plastics. I thought it was only for the charcoal color..
Great question. Bellroy aren't super specific with the specs on their fabrics (breakdowns and percentages etc), but I do believe that the Venture Weave polyester does use some recycled plastics. How much recycled - I'm not quite sure. The Charcoal one is different because it's made of 100% recycled PET bottles. It's a completely different fabric but the Black and Blue are Venture Weave Polyester I believe (kinda confusing really haha). Hope that helps! - Ed
@@RushfasterTV Cool, good luck. I really like your content. Hang up some thick sound absorption blankets and get the mic off the camera and as close to you as possible or use a wireless lav system. A extra light for over head shots would be good too. It is hard to see inside the bag when you are showing that, at least turn up the exposure to exposer for inside the bag.
Do you have any idea if it can be washed? I want to use this bag as under seat carry on and I worry about the nasty germs from passengers using the restroom.
Hi there! For this material, Bellroy recommends cleaning by simply wiping a damp cloth. And as tempting as it might be, never put it through the washing machine. You can find more info here: bellroy.com/our-materials
Hmmm you might have to check with Bellroy, depending on the size and bulkiness of your laptop it might not fit in the dedicated laptop sleeve. But if you have a separate case or sleeve for it you'll definitely be able to fit it in the main compartment at least. Hope that helps! - Ed
Hmm I don't think so. You might be able to fit them in the main compartment, but there would be no way of protecting those papers from getting damaged. Still probably better off carrying an external carry case for those. Hope that helps - Ed
I got this as a casual/professional bag when my backpack is too casual. It’s really nice except for how the shoulder strap attaches. It doesn’t feel like it’s going to last all that long. The leather loops might break but I’m not sure yet.
Thank you for sharing your feedback on this one! We would love to hear an update from you after you give it some more time. Have a nice day Matthew! -Rolan
So far I just love the design layout . A year ago I got my wife the Tokyo tote and I love how the inner water bottle pockets pop out as needed and the interior is a nice feeling material. The mesh pockets feel better than any mesh I’ve used only second to the apex backpack. The front two organization pockets are great although I think they could have made them a little larger as it’s kind of fiddly Getting ahold of the zippers as they sit below the lip. The strap isn’t great feeling but it works just fine. Just doesn’t feel that great to me but I’m not really sure what I’d change. And while I’m very glad bellroy use the recycled material the basalt feels a little less premium IMO. It is a little softer and over the years might be worn down by abrasion but hard to tell right now. An evergoods 500D nylon feels much better IMO but probably would be too flexible for this type of bag. This just makes me wish they leaned a little more into the briefcase style or offer another option. These are all nitpicks because overall it’s both professional and casual and works in any environment aside from the outdoors
Haha sometimes it's just what we've been given by the brand. Sometimes we don't get a choice - but in this case it might be more to do with the lighting and contrast of the video. We're doing our best to keep improving and this is one of those things! :) Thanks - Ed
