after you, me,, Rodney and everyone else alive today is long gone, this masterpiece will live on for all human kind to remember that he walked the walk
I’ve listened to this so many times but I can’t get enough. It is a perfect song and he does it so well. I’m 70 and it makes even me want to fall in love again. Nuff said.
This is my favorite version of this song, but I would also recommend that anyone else who likes this performance also listen to the Haley Sisters version.
The sound quality in this video is excellent. This is my favorite Rodney Crowell song, actually it's my most favorite song in the world. Absolutely beautiful, thank you for sharing this great rendition.
i used to have a friend named delia anne davis in Nacogdoches. i had just moved down from Vermont to Dallas. she invited me down one weekend and that Saturday morning after breakfast she said, 'c'mon, were going over to Rodney's house. We drive over to an old farmhouse and I saw a few vans with California licence plates...empty bottles of Jack on the lawn and I thought, musicians. Sure enough, Rodney Crowell and some of the 'Hot Band.' I knew immediately (i played a little music) who they were but stayed 'cool.' Said 'hi', had coffee and split. We get in the car and i said, 'why didn't you tell me it was Rodney Crowell?' She said, 'here in Nac, he's just Rodney.
Thank you Gary for your kind words. Hopefully (fingers crosses!) we'll be back on the road Sept/Oct/Nov this year. If you want to receive details of the shows, just go to www.kierangoss.com and join the mailing list and we'll let you know if there's a show near you. All the best from Sligo. K&A
I have listened to several versions of this over the last week or so. Covers and previous recordings by R.C. with and without E.L.H. For me, this is the definitive performance of this song. Thank you for posting.
There are a lot of versions around for this song , but this style does best to make the song great. Well done guys great harmony/contrast between the voices.
Such a beautiful song. Perhaps we only gain control of ourselves when give i up to the one we love.. Giving up control we thought we had is scary as hell cause we know they are flawed, as we are. But we find comfort because they see all that and somehow still love us more than we can ever love ourselves, we all need that and it is hard to find. Be nice it was smooth sailing all the way, but are storms on that sea but when we trust the lighthouse beam we know we are safe & home.
Hi Regina. Danke für deine Nachricht. Hoffentlich, werden wir Oktober/November unterwegs in Deutschland sein.(Drücke uns allen die Daumen!). LG aus Irland.K&A

To write this puts u on the same level as Keats, Shakespeare, Yeats, Wordsworth et al. A wordsmith.

Hand to my heart , this song is one of the best things ive heard in a long time . ty for sharing this
This is a brilliant video
very nice job
like this song so much. thanks uploader
Great performance. Also listen to Van Morrison's cover on RUclips. It has a little more attack.
I have 6 versions of this song on my playlist, but this one is hands down my favorite. Second to this one is Crystal Gayle's version.
Emmy Lou Harris, Vince Gill, Willie Nelson, Van Morrison, Alison Krauss, Blue Rodeo, Waylon Jennings, and of course, Rodney Crowell.
My favorite is the one from the Songwriter's Showcase from 1983. Simple and pure.
@@Madscheva97531i migliori Willie e Waylon a seguire emmylou...😊😊😊😇😇😇💘💘💘
Beautiful song. But hard to beat blue rodeo version. Mahsi
blue rodeo does it the best
The definitive version of a great piece of songwriting. Blue Rodeo's version is pretty lovely too.
God, that’s pretty
Wow. Even Emmylou must be impressed with these harmonies
Emmywho ?
Who is the gal singing?
Annie Kinsella, she does great harmony in this song with Rodney Crowell and Kieran Goss
This is OK, but Nobody beats Waylon Jennings' version in my opinion.
