I have the 2020 accent SE in manual, just put 6,000 miles on it in the past several months and all in all it’s a very nice car. In the winter months I average about 38 mpg city, in the warmer months and on highway driving I averaged 43-45mpg which is fantastic compared to the 27 my previous car was getting me. One notable thing about the 2020 is the engine was redesigned again (still a 1.6l) the oil is now 0w-20 instead of 5w-20 and the oil filter is now a cartridge rather than the traditional spin on as most cars have. This filter has some bonuses like being able to drain the oil with the removal of a small plug on the canister so there’s less mess, however the negative here is no local parts stores or quick lube in my area have the filter in stock so I have to buy them from the nearest dealer which is 45 minutes from home. Also I really enjoy your reviews! Keep it up!
My mom and I brought my sister 2018 Hyundai Accent in the SEL Trim. My sister needed a bigger car and I needed another car. So I took on the Accent. The Hyundai Accent is an good vehicle. It has it's Pro's and Con's but overall if you need a cheap car this is a great choice. I recommend if you decide to buy an Accent get the SEL or Limited Trim. Personally, I like the SEL Trim better. It has Wayyyyy more then I need in a vehicle. I don't have to have all the Bells and Whistles in a vehicle. So far it has been a great small car. It will get you where you want to go and need to go.
Thanks for the review. I got this car in December '18. Was hesitating between a used Camry/Corolla and this and finally decided to buy a new car. As I live in Eastern Europe, I got the Russian version of the car, which doesn't have sport seats or touchscreen (available on top model only), and instead gets heated seats and steering wheel and a stronger suspension system for awful Russian roads. All in all, here are my pros and cons. Pros: - Reliability. Obviously, it is new, but Accent is known for being very reliable and even if it breaks, it costs less to fix than a German or Japanese. - Superb trunk space. It is bigger than Camry's! And also bigger than pretty much any hatchback, with only the height being a problem with getting some tall/wide stuff in. - Nice options, as shown in the video - Most plastics don't look as cheap as they actually are. If you don't touch the nice looking plastic, you wouldn't know that it's very hard. - Standard classic engine and transmission. Mine's engine is chain-driven, don't know about NA market. - Overall feel and quality is great for this price point - Handsfree works great - Great design for a compact car, especially the rear lights and this dark grey color is awesome (I have it as well). so is blue, but white and black do not look good. - Interior looks a lot better than a used base Corolla. Also has more tech Cons: - Might be region-specific, but I only got 2 airbags. I wish I could have side ones as well. - Road noise is a bit too much if you are sensitive to that stuff. I'm not. - I feel the steering wheel cover will wear pretty quickly. Same for the buttons, so I don't press them a lot lol
I think it is a beautiful, well designed little car. It is rated as a compact rather than a subcompact car because it has so much interior space. With fewer bells and whistles, there is less to break down. If you pay more than 14K for this car, you paid too much. I like the 2020 Corolla better, but it is much more expensive and has a shorter warranty.
Great review on a great car. I bought this exact model on the 4th of July and I'm very happy with my purchase. It's a beautiful little car. It reminds me of the Elantras little brother. It'll grow on you
Hello. I own a 2019 Hyundai Accent SE .I bought it in December 2018 as a back up car for $15,600 plus taxes and fees. Added new wheels and tinted the windows. as today September 2023 the car has a little over 16,000 miles. (still a back up car) . now with gas prices in California over $6 I'm glad I own this car. I get around 42 miles per gallon on freeway. (long run.. not in the city ) . I think is a great little car for the money. the only thing that I hate is that there is no Arm rest in the center console. . besides that I'm Happy.
I have a much older Accent, but it's good to know that all the features that I like are still there! Although I guess that they never fixed the problem with the trunk and the gas cap! I have the same problem. Still, definitely considering another Accent when this car dies.
I have the 2019 Accent, I noticed you did not show the cup holders in the doors. I agree with you, it is priced nicely and with Road and Track, it handles well. Although I did have to add @ 40+ more horses. I've had motorcycles with more hp. Thanks for the review. Oh mpg 40+.
Hyundai used to just include Xm radio on all of their models regardless of trim, not anymore. Nit picky but annoying that they don’t do it anymore. If I had to buy something in this class I’d probably go with an accent or fit.

Thanks for the kinda words. And I agree about the Elantra. In fact, I'm just putting the final touches on my edit of the 2019 Elantra GT. It's definitely my favorite out of the Corolla, Accent, Elantra group.
100 Rental Cars: Hi again, friend! I'm curious: At this stage exactly what vehicle would you buy? I'd like to know. Your reviews are dynamite. I follow them, always. Peace!!! ♐
I got a 2016 accent and it was the best car to start off being a graduate from high school and starting college. I finished college and drove from Ohio to California to live there with no problems. Very reliable car to have as your first one.
Nice review! I love the new accent! I really want to see a review on it with the manual transmission. Thinking of getting one of these for next car or a Toyota Yaris ia with a manual! Let me know what you would pick. Thanks!
Thanks! I really like the new Accent, but unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to drive the manual version or the 2019 Yaris yet. I have driven a Yaris in the past and I enjoyed it, although I feel like the quality of the Accent is superior. The Yaris, at least to me, feels very plasticy. And I realize "plasticy" isn't a real word, but it's the best way I can describe it. So I'd go with the Accent, but test drive them both and let me know what you think!
thats what i figured that the accent was the better buy cause you can usually get better discounts on them as well. Also was wondering if I should spend little more money to get into a compact car or is the accent a decent car for the money?
Another great video. Very thorough The reverse camera guiding lines are better known as a back up camera with trajectory. I missed if this model has cruise control? I know some base accents and Rios make u level up to get that Thx again!
I prefer a Toyota iA, it’s a bit sportier with a wonderful slick shifting Mazda Manual Standard. But the Accent when I’m SE trim or lower is a really good value. Also available in Manual. Big Plus!
@djkenny I agree was looking into either a ia manual or a newer accent se with manual. Not to sure what I want but I have heard that the ia is a little more fun to drive!
A nice little basic car. The manual transmission version is hard to find and I am almost certain that the majority of them made and sent to the USA will not be equipped with it. In Canada & Mexico, it is worth noting that there is a Hatchback version available, which is what I prefer over a sedan, but there is no such thing for the USA. Also, the manual version is only available with the base SE trim with the base radio w/ no satellite radio or HD radio.
I loved the hatchback model. It was actually the second car I ever reviewed here on RUclips (please don't search for it, my review was truly horrible). And good to know about the manual option. I still want to try one, but I won't try to hard now knowing that they are so rare.
Hi Lawrence! No, I didn't. This is a rental car, so I'm sorry to say this, but I don't know where the license plate bracket came from. Hopefully you can find something that works for you elsewhere. Good luck!
take the first gen for 2k and buy a rear vew camera if you need it. these cars are build to last.. mine is from 1998 and has allmost 200.000km. i maintain it properly and it still purrs like a kitten.
I find Hyundai/Kia's interior black buttons not good quality as they will fade and get smudged and loose their glossiness in time. Looks like they're still using the same type of plastics to this day in 2019.
Nice review 👍. Any tips for buyers??? If the sticker price is 15995 what is the lowest offer I can ask the salesman man for this car that he can not resist to sell it to me? Thanks
I prefer to buy cars via email, not on person. Decide what you want, then email the dealer and ask them for their best price. Then forward that email to another dealer and ask if they can beat the price. Then do it again, and again, and again. Eventually dealers will say they can't match or beat to offer and you'll be left with the best offer IN WRITING. Give it a try! And good luck.
Yes, it can work if you're getting a loan. But it's not as effective since there's extra costs involve when you finance and you won't know how much they are until you're approved. But, you can get your loan first, from a bank or something, have the money ready, and then start negotiating. If you do that, you'll be in a much better position to get a good price.
I don’t know if you touched on the 10 year 100K mile Powertrain Warranty is a great selling feature. Wait until you see the new 2020 Nissan NOTE. Looks like a Mini Maxima on the outside and on the inside a world of difference.
I didn't, I don't usually talk about warranties, but now that you mention it, maybe it is something I should start talking about. And, WOW! I just Googled the 2020 Nissan Note and you're exactly right, it looks just link a shrunken Maxima. Very cool. I hope I get a chance to drive one soon.
I'm six feet tall and about 165 lbs and I felt very comfortable in the Accent. I also tend to sit up rather straight and I still had zero issues with headroom. And I think this is a perfect "affordable" new car. I really like the new redesign, it feels...well, nicer than it probably actually is. In a good way. Anyway, I say go out and test drive it. I think you'll like it.
Fairly typical of cheap economy cars. They aren't heavy and aren't designed to carry or tow any real weight so they can get away with cheaping out on the lug nuts. From my perspective as someone who has always driven a half ton pickup since I got my learners at 15 and provisional at 16, only seeing 4 does make the wheels look a bit odd though.

Looking at these as my first car. Waaaaay better than the Corolla
This is great reveiw. Thanks you
Thanks!
Another great video. Very thorough The reverse camera guiding lines are better known as a back up camera with trajectory. I missed if this model has cruise control? I know some base accents and Rios make u level up to get that Thx again!
Base Model Accents have cruise control. Base Model Rio does not.
"Back up camera with trajectory". Got it. I'll use that phrase next time. Thanks!!!
@@ryanlittle6428 A popular mod on the base model Rio's are to upgrade the steering wheel to have the cruise control buttons.
It's a nice review.
Thanks Charles!
Direct injection kills this one for me. After discounts a much better Elantra with a more durable engine costs barely more.
Thank you for your review
You're welcome!
I went with a 2019 Kia Rio that is basically the same car. 4K miles in and I love it!
Congratulations! Glad to hear it's working out. Post a review if you can. I'll gladly link it up here.
Hi, did you buy the front license plate bracket online? That seems perfectly fit. If so, could you share the link? Thanks a lot.
Hi Lawrence! No, I didn't. This is a rental car, so I'm sorry to say this, but I don't know where the license plate bracket came from. Hopefully you can find something that works for you elsewhere. Good luck!
Hey! I see parts were filmed in Oswego and Naperville, right?
Dale Gribble Yep
Disney Fan yep
Good eye! I was driving through, so I stopped and filmed a bit.
I really like this car.. is there any way I can get good deal on this?
I need to buy basic car.. I have very low budget around 10k USD.. please suggest.. thanks for good review
I'd buy used
The air conditioning vents for the back are underneath the driver and passenger seat.
Whoever designed this with no armrest in the middle is evil
It comes standard with the next highest trim level.
aamirqz It should come standard on all the trim levels. It’s a basic thing that all cars have
And not to mention god damn fucking seat pockets in the back
My 2018 Accent had a center console/arm rest. The thing is I believe you had to go to the highest trim to get it which was stupid.
Mommy Dearest True but I would still rather just buy a higher class car that’s older for less money than a newer lower class one for more money
take the first gen for 2k and buy a rear vew camera if you need it. these cars are build to last.. mine is from 1998 and has allmost 200.000km. i maintain it properly and it still purrs like a kitten.
Helpful 👍🏻
Thanks Jocelyn! ✌️
Nice little trip down Ogden lol
And comfy seats
Can you customize the car to have an arm rest and back seat pockets?
The interior wheel and cluster are almost identical to my 2018 elantra
Umm nothing on how the seats felt in front i was wondering if they were more comfortable than elantra, nothing on navigation
No driver's armrest... did that get irritating after a few hours on the road?
Lol my 07 accent has the armrest
I have a 2019 SEL it has the arm rest.
Definitely not a bad little car, although they should offer a top-end model with leather.
That would be pretty cool.
And a center console arm rest.
@@zedisdead2785 it comes with a center armrest in the middle and highest trim levels.
So it's not push to start?
does it have a height-adjustable driver's seat?
Does it have Apple car play ?
Nice car. But no arm rest?
The next trim level up comes with a center armrest.
Thanks Aamirqz! I wasn't aware of that. Good to know!
Does it have android auto?
It’s 6 bucks a gallon now lmaoooo
Looks exactly like my mom's 2016 Kia Rio
I have this car and I don’t have child lock am I missing it somewhere or it doesn’t have it 🥴
I find Hyundai/Kia's interior black buttons not good quality as they will fade and get smudged and loose their glossiness in time.
I got 2 grand off my msrp of 18500.
100 Rental Cars Does this work for monthly loan? Or only for cash payments?
Yes, it can work if you're getting a loan. But it's not as effective since there's extra costs involve when you finance and you won't know how much they are until you're approved. But, you can get your loan first, from a bank or something, have the money ready, and then start negotiating. If you do that, you'll be in a much better position to get a good price.
Wheres the test drive?

@@100RentalCars Man, I must have been drunk when watching this :-)
I ha e the SEL which has even less😭
I want the led headlights tho
Found the front seat to be extremely uncomfortable.
100 Rental Cars The new Versa won’t be on rental lots till late in the summer.
Does any body know the exact color of this car?
I’m about 6’ tall how was your headroom in the driver seat ? I’m interested in getting one and need an affordable car with decent headroom.
왜 우리나라엔 안파냐
Hyundai is Korean company .
Why they don't sell this car in Korea
8:24 TO 8:39 HE ROUGH HANDED WITH THE GEARS AND BUTTON TOUCH HE GONNA FUCK IT UP BEFORE ITS OVER 😡
The horn
Why do all hyundais have such a rough ride???
I don't think it's all Hyundais. But there low end vehicles are definitely uncomfortable.
I wish they made a turbo version
4 lug nuts on a wheel is always a bad sign
Fairly typical of cheap economy cars. They aren't heavy and aren't designed to carry or tow any real weight so they can get away with cheaping out on the lug nuts. From my perspective as someone who has always driven a half ton pickup since I got my learners at 15 and provisional at 16, only seeing 4 does make the wheels look a bit odd though.
Why do u need 5 lug nuts on a subcompact ...
Jermaine Crump 4 lug nuts is a dead give away it’s a cheap little piece of garbage
@@chocolatewheelchair cars back the a day had 4 lugs on them I got a 94 Honda Accord with 4 lugs on the tires ... Don't know where y'all get this silly
Jermaine Crump LoL 1994? Do you hear yourself. It’s 2019.
Jillon need safe baza more accont shore package 2023
The battery design of this car sucks
This is actually shit car. I wondering why they trade it in USA
