My favorite thing about this is that it was pretty inclusive, there's people who are obviously amateur animators, and people who have clearly been doing this for a long time. It's so cool to remind people that even a beginner can help to make something special.
I feel like most people overlook that the Dark Forest is literally actual hell. It's not just like Bloodclan, it's HELL the place where you can have your eyes torn out from your skull and strapped to a burning hot metal pole for centuries in some religions PTSD 100, wish the books showed more of what happened to the cats that went to hell and came out alive like Ivypool- to me the books only ever described it to be something like Bloodclan then again these books are still supposed to be for kids but I do still wish they showed more of the aftermath to cats exposed to it
I agree! I haven't read the whole series yet (I'm on eclipse) but I always thought the dark forest was just a spooky place where cats kinda just minded their own business and took their own path. I didn't think it'd be literal HELL.
This actually should be canon. The more forgotten you are, the more mangled (haha, get it?) and decomposed your Dark Forest phantom becomes. At some point there's barely a skeleton left of you, and when the last alive cat forgets you, your brain officially fails. But, you know, kids books.

Personally I love how Hawk’Frost is drawn in this. The stab wound is a lil less bloody then I’d wanted it to be but over all it’s so amazing and this is by far my most favorite map of all the WC maps I’ve seen

I love how in some parts, it's shown through Ivy Pool's perspective, to give us the kind of sense of what horrors she had to see while in the dark forest (I hope that's Ivy Pool, I haven't read the books in almost 2 years and i can easily mix up some cats ;w;) I really love this map! everyone did such an amazing job! I especially love the part at 0:53 because of how the light flash exposes how many cats are hiding in the shadows, many of which I assume we don't get to know in the books. It just gives me the strong feeling to run away, which i think is what they were going for.
THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!! Every animation is so smooth and creepy and the camera movements oh my goodness. This is one of my favorite MAPs now, great job everybody ❤️
I think that we need a kind of spin off book, that really explains what happens in the Dark forest! Since the books were generally made for a little younger of an audience, the Dark Forest isn’t explain in depth, so many people don’t remember it’s truly a hell. I want to know what happened to the survivors of the Dark Forest, like Ivypool or Blossomfall. I would imagine they have major PTSD, imagining what all happened in the Dark Forest. WE NEED A BOOK ABOUT DARK FOREST IT WOULD BE SO INTERESTING

I wrote a list of things I had to say about each part! 0:24 I love the camera movements here, this part is such a great setup to the MAP 0:30 These shots are so gory and it's awesome. Especially the maggots and that one jumpscare thing 0:38 This part was a journey and I'm glad I could help by doing the bg/tweening in the first shot. I really like the part where Hawk grabs the camera. Also his expressions in the next shot look beautiful, I can't believe how Buddy got that done on time 0:45 I like how sunken and dead Hawk's eyes look in the first shot 0:53 The cats in the trees are so creepy and honestly a really cool idea. Also Hawk's lipsync looks nice 1:00 I like how Hawk's face looks as he says the last set of lines. And the lil cats popping out are delightful 1:08 I really like the lighting in this part and how the bg moves in the first shot 1:11 The character designs are so creative! Also the muted coloring goes really well with the bright reds in the bg. 1:15 Especially in the last shot, the motions are so fluid! The linework looks good with the animation 1:19 I like how bouncy the style is and how you can see a silhouette cat as the other cat is running 1:23 All of the expressions here look really nice 1:24 The glitch effects work well here 1:26 I like the character designs and the colors used! 1:28 Each shot is so dynamic, even though everything goes by fast you can still tell what's going on. That blood animation is also really cool 1:30 I like the chromatic aberration and the painted-sort of coloring 1:32 Heh that one shot with the FNAF reference is sick 1:33 The lighting in this shot is top tier and the anatomy looks great. The lipsync also looks nice 1:38 I really like the perspective/shot compositions here and that little headshake that injured cat does 1:45 I like how the cats really look like they're a part of the environment. The background cats are also fun to pause and look at 1:52 My part! 2:00 Holy shit that shading and anatomy in this one is so nice. Each shot is so dynamic and high energy, every shot flows perfectly into the next. 2:08 I'm impressed by how this was done in like two days. Other than that, I like how jerky Hawk's movements are 2:15 I like the backlighting here! And the camera movement at the end 2:22 I really like the lipsync here And the fighting shadow cats really add to the scene 2:30 The background in this part looks awesome. The one shadow cat getting dragged offscreen is a nice detail 2:37 The way the brown cat pulls out a chunk of the other cat's fur is really satisfying 2:41 My part again! 2:45 The way the cats shapeshift is pretty cool 2:49 I love how over the top the blood animations here. I also love the design of the cat that rips their chest open, the bone nose ring is a wonder 2:53 I like the colors here! The cats are dark but don't blend in too much with the bg 2:55 All of these shots are so cool. I love the last one where it's just a body floating in water. 2:56 The style looks so good, the lineart is sharp and the colors pop 2:58 I love the bounce in this one! The animation is very fluid and sketchy 2:59 I like the motion the cat makes towards their neck. Also the bgs looks very atmospheric 3:00 I like how intense the colors are 3:04 The bg/the cats in the bg look great. Hawk's expression is so cool here. 3:08 The concept here is really cool and I love the style of the mist 3:15 I like how Hawk just crushes a guy's spine. I just think it's neat 3:23 I love the lighting here! And how slowly the cat gets torn apart, it feels very visceral. Hawk looks very corpselike and I think that works well 3:30 The movements here are nice and bouncy here! I also like how the glitch effects are really intense here, like it's just so intense that it's what makes Ivypool wake up 3:38 The camera movements are so well done here! It really captures that POV kinda vibe. And the water shot at the end came out great And for the credit's art! 4:06 The shading came out really well. I like Ivypool's expression and how devious Hawk looks. 4:14 This looks like a goddamn anime screenshot, the lighting and expressions looks really good 4:23 The shading gives this shot so much depth, I love the composition. Also the bits of blood and saliva on Hawk look cool 4:30 I like how angry Ivypool looks and how Hawk is just smirking in the bg. 4:39 The semi-lineless style was pulled off really well in this shot. Ivy's ear twitches also look nice
As for pearl’s parts, for the first one I really like how the first shot starts off as a closeup of the cats paws and then zooms out to show the whole cat. Also when the cat steps on the eyeball, the shots to the cats expressions looks like the face closeups in anime where the shadows have high contrast which just makes the expression that much more intense As for the second part, I really like how smooth the perspective change is when the skull cat lunges at the small cat. Also the lighting from the lightning was also a really cool effect
I love the detail of the puncture wound where Brambleclaw stabbed Hawkfrost. It's so cool. I wish all Dark Forest cats showed the injuries that they gained in life and what killed them.

I like to think the Dark Forest isn't always just fighting and death, since that seems awfully edgy, but this MAP put it into new perspectives for me. Seems pretty epic and spooky! Everyone worked hard on this map as it seems and its so cool!
after 2 years, this map still goes good. The concept was amazing, giving the dark forest cats a bit more of a deformed look. I feel like it just makes more sense. Gotta love halloween maps, and lionblaze and hollyleaf sleeping at the end was adorable.

Okay okay, I’m not a “big” spook fan, but I can say that I find myself watching this endlessly, it just, has something about it. Maybe it’s the fact that this is EXACTLY how I imagined the dark forest being, or maybe it’s just nostalgic in a way. Needless to say, great work. ❤️
OK- I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS MAP! I feel so often that so many people overlook the Dark Forest and it's horrors- treating it as something like Bloodclan. The DF deserves so much more credit and detail than it's known for. The fear, the blood, the rotting. There's so much to be expanded on and shown. Which is why I absolutely love maps like this! The dark forest is place to be feared, not overlooked. It's hell, and it's a place made of fear. Horrifically poetic in so many realms 😩💔 Amazing work from all the artists!
This map is amazing! If I had to say just one thing that I love about it, it'd have to be that no one held back from the gore and true terror of the dark forest, which really brings it to the spotlight. Great work and dedication for all the animators!

This is actual BEAUTY!!! At first when I tried to watch it I stopped cause it was actually scaring me. It shows you how scary the dark forest should be instead of just dark everywhere and cats training for battle, no it shows you death and actual living horrifying hell. I think that we need a kind of spin off book, that really explains what happens in the Dark forest! Since the books were generally made for a little younger of an audience, the Dark Forest isn’t explain in depth, so many people don’t remember it’s truly a hell. I want to know what happened to the survivors of the Dark Forest, like Ivypool or Blossomfall. I would imagine they have major PTSD, imagining what all happened in the Dark Forest. WE NEED A BOOK ABOUT DARK FOREST IT WOULD BE SO INTERESTING

0:30 These shots are so gory and it's awesome. Especially the maggots and that one jumpscare thing
0:38 This part was a journey and I'm glad I could help by doing the bg/tweening in the first shot. I really like the part where Hawk grabs the camera. Also his expressions in the next shot look beautiful, I can't believe how Buddy got that done on time
0:45 I like how sunken and dead Hawk's eyes look in the first shot
0:53 The cats in the trees are so creepy and honestly a really cool idea. Also Hawk's lipsync looks nice
1:00 I like how Hawk's face looks as he says the last set of lines. And the lil cats popping out are delightful
1:08 I really like the lighting in this part and how the bg moves in the first shot
1:11 The character designs are so creative! Also the muted coloring goes really well with the bright reds in the bg.

2:22 I really like the lipsync here And the fighting shadow cats really add to the scene
2:30 The background in this part looks awesome. The one shadow cat getting dragged offscreen is a nice detail
2:37 The way the brown cat pulls out a chunk of the other cat's fur is really satisfying

3:23 I love the lighting here! And how slowly the cat gets torn apart, it feels very visceral. Hawk looks very corpselike and I think that works well
3:30 The movements here are nice and bouncy here! I also like how the glitch effects are really intense here, like it's just so intense that it's what makes Ivypool wake up
3:38 The camera movements are so well done here! It really captures that POV kinda vibe. And the water shot at the end came out great

4:06 The shading came out really well. I like Ivypool's expression and how devious Hawk looks.
4:14 This looks like a goddamn anime screenshot, the lighting and expressions looks really good
4:23 The shading gives this shot so much depth, I love the composition. Also the bits of blood and saliva on Hawk look cool
4:30 I like how angry Ivypool looks and how Hawk is just smirking in the bg.
4:39 The semi-lineless style was pulled off really well in this shot. Ivy's ear twitches also look nice
As for pearl’s parts, for the first one I really like how the first shot starts off as a closeup of the cats paws and then zooms out to show the whole cat. Also when the cat steps on the eyeball, the shots to the cats expressions looks like the face closeups in anime where the shadows have high contrast which just makes the expression that much more intense
As for the second part, I really like how smooth the perspective change is when the skull cat lunges at the small cat. Also the lighting from the lightning was also a really cool effect

I love this concept of the Dark Forest, where it's chaos supreme, injuries can't be healed and only those gained in life can be exacerbated without negative side effects. Very nice!
The gore makes me feel sick in a good way. Its just animated so well its cool asf how yall animate it like this. It mustve been excruciating pain to animate this maybe some day ill learn to be this good.

I like to think the Dark Forest isn't always just fighting and death, since that seems awfully edgy, but this MAP put it into new perspectives for me. Seems pretty epic and spooky! Everyone worked hard on this map as it seems and its so cool!

after 2 years, this map still goes good. The concept was amazing, giving the dark forest cats a bit more of a deformed look. I feel like it just makes more sense. Gotta love halloween maps, and lionblaze and hollyleaf sleeping at the end was adorable.

OK- I ABSOLUTELY ADORE THIS MAP! I feel so often that so many people overlook the Dark Forest and it's horrors- treating it as something like Bloodclan.
The DF deserves so much more credit and detail than it's known for. The fear, the blood, the rotting. There's so much to be expanded on and shown. Which is why I absolutely love maps like this!

This is actual BEAUTY!!! At first when I tried to watch it I stopped cause it was actually scaring me. It shows you how scary the dark forest should be instead of just dark everywhere and cats training for battle, no it shows you death and actual living horrifying hell. I'm so thankful I can watch art like this!
