This is dope, super clean rig, considering what you gain from it. Hopefully other companies see this and offer more competitive options for the lens cuff.
Nitze make a very versatile Mounting kit Model T-D02A which i have tried in various configs with my XH2-s , to reach the point where the Lidar sits centrally just above the lens with a 1 mm or 2 mm clearance . It consists of a nato rail, a 15mm rod with 12mm section and internal screw thread and another 15mm Rod About 2” with a screw thread end that goes into a riser with three vertically aligned threaded holes. The highest hole allows the closest proximity. there is a supplied screw on plate that is the same shape as that supplied with the Lidar unit but instead of having a cold shoe it has a 15mm rod clamp so it can be rotated to achieve fine adjustment in levelling. I have my focus pro grip mounted on the left side on the Nitze supplied Nato rail and have a 2 “ 15mm rod through the Nitze supplied Nato rail with its integral rod clamp oriented uppermost . If I could post a photo it would make more sense . Not cheap, £76 on Amazon but a good solid solution
When you put the focus motor upside down like in your rig, do you need to change something in settings? Because it will spin one way thinking it is going to focus to infinity while doing close focus?
so does all this additional weight on the front of the lens stressing the mount since you are not rigging the extra weight to the cage? Are you finding play in the mount?
Is there not some programmable offset in mm for the DJI LiDAR to be mounted in various scenarios? This looks decent but front-heavy. Spending as much in rigging as the whole LiDAR system costs is pretty ridiculous, especially considering how difficult this makes lens swaps.
I think you did a good job kitting that kit out! I’m thinking of buying this too. Not that fancy ring though… 500 is way too expensive but damn that was an awesome solution. I kinda wanna use this on a gimbal and I don’t own the dji one and I’m worried that it will get too bulky. Your camera setup looks great! I have the XT-4 and the nightwalkers 24, 35 and 55mm. It would be awesome to have a reliable focus system. The xt-4 needs that to become awesome 😂
Thanks for the vid, is the hole spacing on the rosette adapter the same as the screws on the DJI lidar? Is that why those Roesette adapters work? Trying to get a solution going.
Does anyone know if the new LiDar rangefinder unit is any different to the previous one? Like is there any difference besides the sticker on the back or can I just update my firmware? I have the version that came out in 2022
It's better to do the Media Division way, add a nato/ 15mm rod adapter, and a rod cheese palate adapter on it. With this design it adds more steps in changing lenses. It looks cool though

Why is it ‘ideal’ for autofocus motor to engage with the lens gearing in the centre of the lens? I’m not sure what difference it makes. Could you explain please?
Thanks for watching! XF glass is okay. I would rather have more control with my cine lenses. That's why the lidar is so important for the this build. I honestly would never work with still lenses for my professional work.
1) cine lenses 2) the DJI system is also dope assistance for manual focus pulls, you can pull it away from where it wants to be, to show a passing subject, or to start the shot with the subject out of focus, and it will snap back to the prior AF point in a predictable way
Nice and expensive 😆 Though my concern is when you change lenses on a commercial shoot this workflow system might cost one's production time. Especially when you pullout the Athena 135mm things will be off. Just saying.

My one issue with that "Great now we have to take something else off the lens, not just the mattebox, when we lens swap" Otherwise I like how clean it is.
@@CineDailies Just watched your other video with the Mid49 rail and that seems like a better solution....As you said the distance from the sensor to the Lidar seems critical and with that lens mount I feel that would always be changing.
My design is done, took 35 minutes to create one. The fact that they want 449 for some aluminum and a copied ring clamp design (They literally copy pasted other designs) + tacked on 15mm rod clamps is BONKERS.

You paid $500 for something that a $6 strip of ulanzi does better, with less weight and more adaptable.🙃 Another simple solution would have been to adapt it directly to the mattebox.

With the 14-bit readout of the XH2S, this rig is like a micro Alexa 35, but with Lidar AF. A dream for any shoot.

Yes its an entirely new lidar
