Good to see this man. Reminds me of me and my pops teaching me how to shift. He got on me but damn I learned quick just like it seems your little bro will. Catch you around Houston Driver!

hispanic88 glad you liked the video bro, and yes he’s pretty good, even learned how to shift without the clutch first time.

dude your bro is doing better then quite a few truckers ive encountered that have been driving for years! give him a few hours alone and he'll have it mastered quick. its always hard to let yourself go and make mistakes when someone is sitting 2 feet from you, you got to learn to perfect it with practice. but seriously hes 80% the way there to being proficient.

Two things I really liked you told him but you should explain WHY. Don’t flip the hi/low down to low while still going fast (over like 15 mph) because you can wear the synchros out (it’s a non synchronized transmission except the low/high is synchronized) ALSO only push the clutch in a couple inches when the truck is rolling because to the floor will engage the clutch brake and ruin it. Sometimes knowing WHY helps a person and if he ever teaches anyone at least he knows himself. He did great! You’re a good brother 👍🏻👍🏻

Grtruckingdemolition 21?? he can get it at 18 as long as you don’t cross state lines. They have actually been entertaining the idea of 16, but don’t think that’s happened yet.

Hay man kids doing way way better than I thought and by far better than me. Try and not raise your voice. Might make the kid nervous. Been through that. He’s got all the low gears down good. Just needs the high gears. Keep working with him. He’s doing good I would say.

Working to Relax yes for his first time using all the gears and driving on the road he did pretty good.

The other issue I found while trying to downshift was that I would panic and hit the brakes and the transmission would would be winding but the drive tires would be going much faster. My solution was to feather the throttle and gently push shifter till it falls into gear

Maybe raising your voice gets him a little shook when my dad would kinda raise his voice he’d make me nervous cause I felt like he wanted me to get it right away the very first time so I just gave up

    • @Grtruckingdemolitionllc

J 57 no he knows I’m like that, and he stays wanting to drive. He pretty much has the hang of it already, and I guess I raise my voice since my dad would do the same with me also.

Ronell Wright yea man, nothing to complicated you can learn it in a day, and just get used to it in a couple. I just happen to show my brother how to shift without the clutch since I never learned it like that, my father would just get me on the truck and I had to learn by myself. To this day when I try to double clutch it messes me all up lol

Nothing to understand when it comes to shifter height, it’s a preference some people prefer them extended like my self and others don’t. Yes he’s very good. Already driving the truck by himself.
