Abandoned - Episode 3 - The Pines Hotel: • Abandoned: Episode 3 ...
Welcome to a new series that is quite different from the "normal" videos I usually post on RUclips. "Abandoned" will have me going to locations that have outlived their original purpose and documenting my experiences while visiting those properties. Whether a location is completely abandoned or being remodeled, I will do my best to visit some cool locations and discover some hidden mysteries of places lost in the passage of time.

Thanks for the road trip, guys ! Very interesting!
Thanks Deb! Glad you enjoyed the video 😁
My whole family live in the Adirondack mountains 13 lake area and Minerva, 13 lake area has alot of old stuff back in the woods, and you should look up foxlore resort the pool is still there
I’ll have to do some research! I’m looking to head back up that way and see what other spots I’m able to visit. Thank you for the information though! Much appreciated
Your enthusiasm is commendable. Love exploring up there.
+Christine Wolff Thank you! Once I discovered this as an interest, it just kind of naturally escalated from there haha. Gotta make sure it's somewhat entertaining for those that aren't able to make it there! Thank you for your comment :)
Me and my fiance plan on visiting this place. His great great grandfather lived in tahawus ny he worked at that quarry. This is when my fiance's grandfather was a kid.
That’s awesome! I would highly recommend planning enough time to visit the entire site. Our problem was we left later, had trouble finding the buildings, and then had a 2+ hour drive back...so we didn’t get to experience everything the location had to offer. But it really is an amazing place. It’s extremely remote, so be prepared and just take in the sights. I think you both will have a great time while you’re there! The personal connection should make it even more special. Thanks for sharing and thank you for your comment!
@@eNiGmAHD1 I'm thinking about going there in the summer time. My fiance's grandfather has a camp in newcomb. We live 4 hours away but we figured go adventure tahawus then go up to camp after
Summer will be much better time to explore. There’s also a ton of hiking trails from the Tahawus site location. So if hiking is your thing, you’ll have plenty of options! Camping up that way should be a great time too
The pipe at 31:51 was for air from the pistons down below. The air was pumped into a pipe (now gone) on the north side of furnace, thru the heat exchange (covered in plexiglass), down thru the pipe you just saw and into the furnace.
The wooden planks at 34:30 was part of the spillway for the dam.
51:28 the big hole in the ground was where a waterwheel was. Water poured over a dam onto the wheel which turned crankshafts into piston into air for the blast furnace.
Just so you know most of the buildings were torn down last November. I posted some pictures here.
www.northwoodcabinsadk.com/2017/01/19/a-nice-walk-up-adams/ Also kudos to you for using the correct pronunciation of Tahawus
+Brian Burns Really?! That's a shame...but I guess they were in complete disrepair, and a hazard to those who closely examine them...I did check out your pictures though! Very cool :) and as for the pronunciation, I try to do my research haha
my cousin's ride snow mobiles to school on the winter
Newcomb my my grandparents live there
+Tim Agosta It was a nice town! That was the first time I've ever been there. I definitely want to visit the area again
that's funny it's a whole different way of life my grandpa actually worked n the mine back in the day i know a lot of the old structures. it's very neat
+Tim Agosta I was keeping an eye open for the mines, but sadly we didn't see any of them. But after we got back and I was editing the footage, I noticed that we were only about a half of a mile away from one of the old entrances near an old quarry. Not sure if it was accessible/permit-able, but it would been cool to see haha
@@eNiGmAHD1 Mines not accessable! Private prop! Cameras are in use and owner will show up!
there owned by the state now i actually went up today to look at them
90 kids k-12 grade
Pumphouse was probably built after 1940.
+john tuttle These facts are incredible! Did you ever work in the industry and know how machinery like this operated? Or are you very familiar with the history of Tahawus?
@@eNiGmAHD1 never worked for industry, just read a lot about the place and have visited often.
I know a spot in Minerva ny where there is actually abonded trains, if you wanna know i'll send you an email of more info about it
+Aidan That'd be great! I'm always looking for potential locations to visit! If you could, feel free to email the location to enigmaticreign@gmail.com
Trains are gone now. The RR company left old oil tankers on the abandoned line and state objected and they were removed.
Hey!! Loved your video- I'm in upstate NY too, hit me up if you want an exploration buddy!!
Thanks for the comment! Alright sounds good! I'm always looking to expand the exploration community and see if anyone knows about any great spots to explore :)
sure thing :) I should be here for the next month or so :) i have som great pics on my ig- it's mega_mega_mega, dm me your details! I have some great places I'd love to check out relatively soon :) ttyl!!
you should not have a problem going in there by foot
+Tim Agosta I'm definitely planning to head up that way for another trip. The mines, and the old graveyard are the two main attractions for round 2 of tahawus!
Lol that's awesome i went up yesterday took some pictures it's a good time to take picture spring and early fall air is thinner make great picture i could sent you a picture of the south pit and the ore pile not sure how I'd go about doing that

+Tim Agosta that place looks familiar haha. Nice picture man! I'm actually heading out to film Abandoned Episode 3 tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to the snowy aesthetic. Tahawus will most likely come with the warmer weather, but I'm still looking forward to that visit again
