Less is more. This is a good example of subtraction by addition. Orchestration could easily have remained true to the the "parts" including the parallel 6th that echo the melody in the verse. Steve is cheapening a good thing.
i need to re-examine my ability to appreciate sound or I need a bottle of wine because this performance, for me, does not mesh. His voice is not tuned and the orchestra is not helping him.
