I love how the tape glitched when Boulez said he wouldn't ask anyone to imitate his mannerisms... the tape has some serious dramatic timing talents lol
Frustrating due to tape glitches, but interesting, if not completely convincing to me, personally... much as I enjoy Chereau's production. The commentary is just too grandiose. I'd not trade one of Mozart's greatest operas for the whole Ring.

RIP Patrice Chéreau
26:43 excellent piano playing! these people are the unsung heroes/heroines
And Jeffrey Tate is conducting the rehearsal ...
@@RecordGuyBln true. He worked as an assistant to Karajan as well I seem to remember.
Well, it's not that excellent. But I agree, those répétiteurs have a most unrewarding job.
It was high time to dust off the Ring in Bayreuth.
An der Stelle, wo das Bild beginnt zu flimmern, muss man kräftig auf den Fernseher haun und "Scheiße" schrein. Dann gehts weg ....
27:48: The dragon Fafner can be seen.
It's sad that it will never come out on blu-ray.
Why not?
@@Tolstoy111 Yes! It's already gone! In a commemorative edition by Pierre Boulez! It took so long that I thought it would never be released!
German version of this documentary seems to be removed.
Glitch from 9:53 to 11:40 - don't give up!
Thanks. I persevered. It was worth it.

Does anyone know who's singing at 28:32?
If you mean the Valkyrie(Grimgerde) with the higher voice who sings "Getrennt ritten wir, und trafen uns heut", that should be Ilse Gramatzki.
@@DBetz109 Thanks, but I meant Brünnhilde und Siegfried at 38:32 (sorry for the misprint). Is it Frida Leider and Max Lorenz?
