3:08 'I've decided that I'm not going to do it'. 3:22 'Bugger! Zack just did it.' Lol. I'm like you, turning 49 next week and prone to giving in to peer group pressure. It doesn't help that I ride with guys much younger than me. Their enthusiasm is contagious but deep down I think they just want to see someone get hurt. I only recently started hitting some bigger gaps and yes, the feeling is fantastic. Loved the video.
With age comes wisdom. And wisdom will remind you that you could shake off crashes and be back to normal fairly quickly when you were in your 20's & 30's. Wisdom will also bring to your attention that recovering after a crash when you're in 50's & 60's takes a hell of lot longer. Sometimes you ignore wisdom ...and SEND IT! GOOD JOB! 👍🏽‼️
Rod if you are back in NZ. 440 this week. Guys want to send that Chinese Laundry. Will shout you a shuttle pass for the day. Would be good to see you.😁
Nice gap. I am a bit older than you, got a number of koms and like the gaps. But i crashed twice in one week of November and its buggered me. Since then i dont sleep well due to the pain ( neck and shoulder ) i crashed every ride December and up until a couple of weeks ago. Did some more damage to myself including concussion. But now am ok sort of, but cant get the speed i was hitting. Most tracks am about five seconds slower. Not much but enough to p m o. At least i can still ride. Just keep doing it. Keep fit, stay healthy, bodies heal.
Sorry to hear that. I am sure you will heal with time. I have had my fair share of accidents and must admit struggle to get my confidence back after each one. Luckily I have stayed out of trouble for awhile now.
Best Day Ever MTB its not so much confidence its just am so tired. Some jumps i know i am not going fast enough to land them so miss them. Chicken line it is.
Awesome mate. I have done the road gaps plenty of times and its easy enough. Just need a bit of speed and to hold on. I keep dropping my nuts to the gap on sprint warrior though which you did haha
@@bestdayevermtb2 The run-in is a little dusty and loose at the moment with the number of riders hitting it. Still well doable, just need a few extra pedals. Sure there will be plenty of people to pace you in though
@@connorspencer7467 now your making me nervous. One thing I don't like about e bike is hard to accelerate if already doing 30km. Have bought zerode down as well.
Heya Lance. Met you at Riverhead today. Keep the videos coming dude, they're priceless! (Along with your classic kiwi sense of humour.) Would you consider uploading in 1440p? 1440 looks a bit nicer on the old TV screen than 1080! Cheers.
@@bestdayevermtb2 Yeah, 4k is a helluva jump and can run pretty bad on laptops or low-specced desktops. Probably takes ages to render too I would imagine. Goodness know it takes long enough to render videos at 1440! I find the jump from 1080p to 1440p gives a nice increase in quality without the performance hit of 4k. Catch you on the trails man!!!
@@hamishchalmers Just had a play on the go pro. 1440 is only available in 4.3 which leaves black lines down edge of screen. Also I edit in da vinci resolve and there are no settings for 1440. I am not an expert in these things so will take any help I can get. Also 1440 doesn't do superview on gopro.
You’ll be fine, I cased first try and it was all good
same, they have redone it now and its super scarry

Be careful of the riding with youngsters thing. They will get better faster and bounce better. Have fun
@@bestdayevermtb2 The one in my last video didn't bounce so well :D

Good advice I think!
Great send for you man! To close a call for me but you killed it man! Great job!💯
Thanks for the support
Great video,awesome gap jump too.
Thanks David
You guys have some pretty wicked skills going on.
Not sure about skills but certainly wicked.
Wahoo nice jump. Is that the same Graham that was carted off with a broken arm in an earlier Whistler video? Gutsy!
Same one. He has had some bad accidents over the years but seems to come straight back. I struggle more with the mental game after accidents.
WOW Man you did so perfectly, Nice one Mate Congrats!! you are flying

Carry speed from the previous section and just float down, the key is to not look at it but to late for that now. I did it on my first run.
Everyone says I should just do it. Next time I ride there I will do it.
mate, old codger like me has done it plenty of times. u boys be sweet!
You're abit crazier than me. Have you had the surgery yet Santa?
@@bestdayevermtb2 Haha. Surgery tomorrow. Hope to catch up for a ride when I'm all healed up. On an acoustic bike day!

I love the I'm not going to do it!
3-4 pedal strokes before the drop and you'll have it
I will definitely do it next time. I must admit I hardly ever ride there.
Ye it’s ezy just no hesitation
good stuff be careful out there champ
Thanks for that. Don't need to be careful under level 2. Just kidding.
When I did that drop it was so easy after
yo youre back
love your comedy! are you going to be at crankworx?
Absolutely. Been every year so far. Going down on Wednesday till Sunday.
I know you will make the Mr Black drop featured in the video sooner rather than later and I’m likely to be there to celebrate with you mate!
I wouldn't have done that gap if you hadn't done it first. Have done some new gaps at RH we need to check out.
Best Day Ever MTB Yes indeed, looking forward to checking out the new gaps you’ve done at Riverhead!
Ya got bigger balls than me mate. Lol I chickened out on those.
No just not clever.
Have added a few rides of Skyline Rotorua to my channel.

The road gap is really easy you could easily do it
Thanks for that. One day I will give it a try.
just asking how old are you because i am thinking to hit that gap because if you can do it i can do it
Do you have to bring your own bike
You can hire bikes there.
Wheres the smaller gap
yo
It is the easiest jump I have ever done I live in Rotorua I ride there a lot
I did it when I was 11
