    Hi Mike! Great Channel! I’m thinking of upgrading to a pint X, and then later to a GT. I bought a pint during Covid, and I swear it’s saved me from tons of depression that I had been in for over 5 years. I ride it every day since March, and I’m just over 1300 miles. This is a great hobby for middle-age folks like ourselves. I am 54, and having the time of my life!

      Hi Rutger, I'm about your age and experience the same thing. It's a great way for you to get out and enjoy life. As you have probably seen I also go on group rides with people of all ages. It's a challenge and fun too, and it's great doing something different from the mainstream. I've had XR's and I've had the OG pint and I encourage you to do what I did and get the Pint X until the GT arrives. It'll open up a whole new world of riding for you while you are waiting on the GT, and sell the OG pint now to make up some the cost of the Pint X. Say goodbye to range anxiety. :)

    2 drawbacks for pint fixed with X version: range and speed. Still it's a smaller board and riding it feels different. XR still much more comfortable for me and I wouldn't exchange it for a pint X but definitely it's a valid option now.

    • @mikeintampa250
      @mikeintampa250  3 года назад

      Hi, my point wasn't trying to necessarily make the argument that the Pint X is way better than the XR. What I was trying to say is that most people with XR's that I know including me either sold or are selling them to get the GT and there's going to be a glut of XR's on the market so I figured sell now and get a better price for it than I would in a month or two and the next-gen Pint X should hold its value better than the XR and then sell it when the GT ships. But having the Pint X now instead of the XR, i find it to be very fun board, very agile and it has the same power that the XR did.

    I've not owned an XR but I have been on a friend's XR a few times but I went for the pint X, i personally think they are completely different boards, for me the pint X is a street board and the XR is a trail board, I took my pint X to the same place I tried the XR at and it didn't handle no where near as well as the XR on the trails (maybe a treaded tire would help) but on the tarmac track it was much better then the XR, carving is effortless on the pint X, I might get the GT once the issues have been ironed out, more so for the range then speed, I got just over 20 miles on the pint X with 17% battery left on flat tarmac track, didnt want to stop tho so the GT's range is what I'd like from it.
    Also it would be cool if you could turn the lights off from the app to save a little power, although it may be negligible 🤷

If that aspect of XR ownership doesn't matter to you, and if you feel more comfortable on an XR then go for it.

      First of all that's awesome that you're thinking about getting one. Whichever one you choose it's going to change your life. A couple things to think about, if you get the Pint X it will not set you back as much as a GT would and if you decide Onewheeling isn't for you you'll be able to sell it and get most of your money back. If you decide it is for you you could always sell it and get most of your money back and use that money towards a GT. The GT is a lot more powerful than the X and it therefore may be more difficult to learn at first because you have to learn how to contain the power. On the other hand you're a size 11 shoe and so the foot pads on the GT are wider and may be more comfortable for you. That comfort may lead you to like the Onewheel even more. I am about your weight and so I appreciate the extra power of the GT getting me through areas that the X might have difficulty doing. Therefore because of your weight in the size of your foot I will recommend the GT to you.

      Hi Alan, if the XR would have been good enough for you power and range wise the Pint X will too, but for $400 less with a more finished look. However, if you really want to take it to the next level the GT would be the way to go for $400 more than the XR. The point I was trying to make in my video is there's a way to do both and sell the Pint X when your GT ships as I firmly believe that the Pint X will hold its value more than the XR because it is nextgen and so new.

      So glad you are liking the Pint X. It doesn't sound like you have much to compare it to, but I once owned the regular Pint and the first few miles were great but the ride was always dominated with range anxiety and plotting where I can get a charge, which took away from a lot of the fun. I think the most I ever got out of it was 9 miles and I had to endure the embarrassment of trying to ride with my XR friends and then having to wait for me to charge up somewhere where I could sneak a charge. XR's were great in that it gave me up to 16 miles of range. However the XR looks like it was made in someone's garage although you could spend a lot of money modding it to make it look like your own. It is a clunky beautiful beast. I have 3000 miles on a XR's and they are a blast to ride, not hating on them. I would have had 6,000 miles on XR's if I didn't also ride EUC's. The Pint X takes the best quality of the XR, which is its greater battery size for extended range and speed and torque and puts it into a smaller more refined package. I don't ride in the rain, but it sounds like you have no choice, lol. I am glad it is holding up well in the rain, and I believe the GT that is coming out will be even more water resistant. Maybe then I will ride in the rain, lol. I'm not trying to preach to anyone but if you're riding in a lot of mud obviously get a fender if you don't already. The previous nimbleness of the Pint compared with its Newfound power makes it such a blast to ride!

I thought for a minute of buying a used pint, adding Quart (Chi), while leaving stock rails that would appear as a lower than acceptable airline acceptance, but in the end, getting to a bigger city where these used units are available will cost too much, travel expense, so I believe buying a new one with free shipping will be my best option. Another thing, I learned is weight. I wish with the original purchase of my XR, I wouldn't have added so much weight added protection. Hi Mike. Like your video. I am curious to know if you've had any major falls from the onewheel that was a malfunction of the onewheel and not your own doing? Next question is, can the onewheel be completely operated independent of the onewheel app? I've read bad reviews about the app. I'm 48 and I'm thinking of buying the GT in the spring as a beginner. I know is a lot of money but I really like the new design of the board with the concave footpads and overall look. And the range is ridiculous. I'm already mapping out in my head of all the places I would use the OW. Thanx Mike. BTW, that 360 camera trick is cool. Can't even see the selfie stick. Is that part of the software or you edit that out?

    • @mikeintampa250
      @mikeintampa250  3 года назад

      Thank you. Any falls I've had have been my fault or just circumstance, never the fault of the Onewheel. I think the app is great, it keeps track of very important stats like range, mileage, and regen. You also use it to turn the lights on and off and the digital shaping of the board meaning its characteristics. It also keeps track of achievements for you, like achievements on an Xbox. But yes you can use it without the app. The selfie stick is invisible for my camera, I didn't have to edit it out.

    • @nitrochulo
      @nitrochulo 3 года назад

      For all the reasons Mike pointed out I also recommend using the app. If you were dead set against it for some reason, there is a way to manually select from the configured ride modes, at least with an XR. You lay the XR on its side with the power button facing up, hold down the sensor pad and turn it on. The power light will blink with a number corresponding to the linear count of which riding mode it is currently in. Touching the sensor pad advances to the next ride mode. The blink count will change to indicate your current selection. I stumbled onto this explanation on Reddit (I believe) and tested it on my XR and CBXR successfully. Even with this functionality is still bare-bones so I suggest @theone2b33 use the app. One function I use regularly is to turn my wheel's lights on and off for different scenarios.

      Hi Megan, it sounds like you may not have ridden before. The boards a very durable and they will last almost forever. The tire may need changing after 1,000 miles, or not, as it depends on how you ride them. If I am assuming correct that you've never ridden before, the only other variable is when you want to start riding. The Pint X is available right now, and the GT will start shipping toward the end of January so realistically you're not going to have it till sometime in mid to late February. If you are just starting off, the Pint X maybe a better choice for you because it weighs less and is easier to handle. Because it is so new like I was saying in my video, you should be able to sell it for relatively close to what you purchased it for accounting for wear and tear. One Wheels generally hold their value very well. If you really start getting into one wheeling, and you start out growing the pine tax, then you could sell it and use that money towards a more expensive GT. That's what I'm doing, I'm getting the youths out of the paint X now, and when my GT ships I will sell my Pint X. It is great but I don't need two boards.

      Hi, difficult to say. I went on only one ride on my GT4 14 miles and I had an issue with the board, it is back at Future Motion being resolved so it probably wouldn't be fair to opine too much at this point. But I will say that the increase in power was very noticeable and I had to put it on a conservative shaping in the beginning. It will be a blast to ride again when I get it back from FM. Luckily I didn't sell my Pint X yet and so I've been riding it and it is still just as fun. I recently lost some weight, but my usual riding weight was 205 and I'm 6-foot even and I was always getting 16 on my XR. Are you going by that rule of thumb that says 1 psi for every 10 lb of bodyweight? Btw the Pint X feels way more torquey than the XR did to me. For example, going up certain grassy hills you could feel the engine straining on the XR, but the Pint X goes right up no problem. The agility of the pipe mixed with the power of the XR is a cool combination. I can't wait for the GT too. It's going to be great!

I had the OG Onewheel from the Kickstarter campaign & I didn’t want to get the GT or the Pint X due the FM’s changes to these products & the warranty. I want to be able to do things like replace my battery without having to send it back to Future Motion. I think a lot of people are coming to this realization & are starting to snap up used XRs. This is actually driving the XR prices up in the secondary market as people start to realize that they’re not going to be able to service the GT or Pint X & are at the mercy of a company that no longer seems concerned with the community created around their products. Be sure to check distributors, right after I bought a used XR on eBay, I found that a local motorsports dealer actually has the XR in stock still.

      You have plenty of time, my GT isn't shipping till the end of January and so I think most people are going to get it sometime in February. Maybe you should follow my plan in this video and sell the Pint X right before your GT arrives if you do order one and just use the Pint X money for that. It should hold its value very well since it is next-gen.
