Q&A with Sandy Grierson and Oliver Ryan | Doctor Faustus | Royal Shakespeare Company

Maria Aberg's punchy production of Marlowe's Doctor Faustus transfers to the Barbican until 1 October, following a successful run in Stratford-upon-Avon.
It sees Sandy Grierson and Oliver Ryan share the roles of the doctor and the demon. Who will play Faustus when you see it?

There's not much of a difference between these two actors (other than one has a northern accent), but not even in religious beliefs. I am a believer and- in my video- I do put a few hints to the deeper meanings of the scripture that Faustus reads in the opening scene.

Oliver Ryan does come over as a bit thick. Sandy Grierson is far more considered and thoughtful. Mirrors their performances in Doctor Faustus.
