Absolutely unreal exhaust. What lead me to this video is there is a guy near me (Wimbledon SW London) with what I believe is an AR exhaust. I can literally hear him from the other town approaching 😂👌🏼
This sounds almost identical to the V4 motors in Honda's VFR800 bikes. I guess it's just the firing order of the cylinders. It still kind of blows my mind that, something as simple as that, can give this engine such a different and unique sound compared to other inline 4 cylinder engines. Great video, thank you for the ear porn.
Because crossplane crank engine don't rev as high and are obviously by nature unbalanced. 4 cylinders in general are not well balanced and even modern ones vibrate quite a bit while running. Takes fancy fluid filled mounts to absorb the vibration so it doesn't get into the cabin...
It's limited to engine size more than anything. Obviously the crossplane R1 revs to the moon and back. Try that with 2000 or 2300cc engine size with an undersquare bore/stroke ratio and it wouldn't cope well. If Ford built a 90° V4 to produce similar sound, that would cope better. But it's about packaging too.
It's great so long as you're off the throttle. SC Project, Austin Racing, and a few other brands are basically expensive straight pipes. These stubby "GP" slipons are a joke for making low, tuned, pleasing tones.
Where do you live and where did you buy your exhaust from? I've been looking at getting an fz10, but I think i'm looking in all the wrong places to get the AR Exhaust.
Atlas Lyons I'm luckily from the uk where AR is based. I would have thought they would export one for you as I have seen them on bikes around the globe on the net.
That's a glorious sound. Never been big on the looks of the fz10-mt10 but the engine surely makes the bike appealing to me. Still not sure if I'd choose it over a speed triple or not
donvitovr6 due to a bad back and age I've decided to be "sensible" so bought the MT from value over the Aprilia Tuono 1100 Factory. Always had Suzuki before but glad I swapped over especially because of the sound.
@@ianchapman8670 Bloody hell that sounds mental for no mic, what go pro was it you used and how did you mount it to the bike. Would love to do it for my MT-07 and see some of the flames.
Only a GoPro 5 black. Mount is a combination of about six arms from a variety pack mounted to a bit that was stripped from a suction mount and bolted directly to the rear body work. Arm is finished in a double ended mount so one camera looks down the exhaust the other films to the rear. See my Knobber video for rear type shots. Now got a DJI Osmo Pocket and waiting on warm weather to test mounts for that .
Hi there, did u have any problems with engine management lights coming on? Get this system on Thursday, been told if you leave the servo under the seat connected and just remove the cables it will be fine and won't throw up the light? Cheers
That’s all I did. I photographed the ‘threads left showing ‘before disassembly in case I wanted a quick reinstall . Slackened them off and undid them and slid them out still attached to the cat.servo I still under the seat. Not had any light issues ever with the bike. Exhaust is a fantastic fit and a bit of a bugger because of it. Put the front wheel against a wall before putting it up on a stand as the pipes are so snug you need a lot of force pushing forward to get it to go in full depth. Originally I was in danger of pulling it of its paddock stand.
Had four and a half years with just AR exhaust done and then went for full Woolich tuning package with auto blipper, pit lane limiter, launch control and auto warm up. Don’t use many of the features as they are a bit scared, like launch control. Also fitted a slow start fast action throttle grip to try to smooth out bottom end fuelling. It’s still not as smooth as my GSXR 1000 but it has improved it over stock.
Louis Bunnell according to the guy I spoke to at Austin Racing the system copes without any standard tuning box or reflash though it would benefit from them as it does make a lot of popping and cracking noises. The sensors are still in the system/Y pipe. If you reflash these can be removed like with the Greenwich reflash.
Ta3kno bought as a full decat system from Austin Racing. I've heard the slip on can and it's not much different to standard can. Lot of money for little difference. The decat removes a lot of weight .
No that’s just with the Exhaust installed. It’s now been flashed but due to covid restrictions and work liabilities the bikes hardly moved for two years. Looking forward to this years Isle of Man TT so I will get her camera’d up and do some filming especially as she now has full Woolich tune with downshift, and pit lane limiter.
Lewis Aultman it's an Austin Racing GP1R decat exhaust. The y pipe that replaces the cat is the crucial bit. There are quite a few exhaust tip finishes to be combined with various system finishes. Carbon, titanium etc and a side exhaust like this one or an under belly variation . The options are many but it's the decat bit that makes the awesome sound.
George Mardle yes mate. Can swap only ,makes very little difference . A decat pipe with standard can is a big improvement but the Austin Racing and other short cans take it to a mind blowing level. Do not underestimate how loud it actually is as the microphone dumbs the true sound down a fair bit. You will need ear plugs.

ICBK Club . It's not a full system as in with downpipes. It's what I would class as a 3/4 system. Everything but the downpipes. It has a cat delete/bypass pipe and end can. It's the lack of catalytic converter which makes it quite loud. It has a baffle available but it's not fitted .
James Devries firstly it's barely and not barley but that said you may notice that pretty much most of the footage is in town in a 30mph zone. As I was aware I was filming I figured I'd be intelligent enough to not break any laws as I had the intention of posting on RUclips as had been requested by several people. I have actually downgraded in performance to the MT from my former sports bike for the sake of comfort and holding onto my license. For higher speed videos you'll have to wait till after I've been to the Isle of Man where if your there your welcome to try and stay with me over the mountain section whilst I take my wife for a pillion blast.
wradford1 it'll have to stay boring for now as I'm not going to post incriminating stuff on here. That would be awesome! Looking forward to seeing that!
I dunno, I love its low rpg grumble
Ahhh the sound of uneven firing intervals.. love it
dude the universe tends toward disorder / law of entropy. even-ness is unnatural
Don't confuse entropy with being uneven. Dis-order is only temporary.

@hazmatt that v4 like burble is down to the 270 degree crossplane crankshaft yamaha use. The mt07 mt09 mt10 tracer 700 and 900 and the r1 all use it
Totally, TOTALLY agreed. Utter and sheer joy.
This is the best sound I've ever heard from a bike.
The Crossplane crankshaft is a work of art by Yamaha, they're god of sound. Remember, they are the reason behind the sound of the Lexus LFA
Big facts! They know how to make it sound good and be reliable. LFA is pure art
Sounds like a v8
more likely to american muscle cars
EURO Garage yup. coz American muscle cars and yamaha uses same technology, the crossplane crankshaft..
Absolut love it
V8 has very similar firing sequence, if you were to split both 4-cylinder banks apart.
@@Omi142 Ford uses it.......
Best sound! if I ever upgrade from my CP2 it will definitely be a CP4 bike.

Just a gopro 5 in a frame so the microphone isn’t muffled. It’s not in a waterproof housing.
