Wow! I also had a 1989 Nissa Pao. It was the ivory color. I just loved it for all the reasons you mentioned. My Saturday morning errands always took an hour longer because of all the people wanting to talk to me about it. I ended up selling it when we moved to Spain, but it stayed in my Jacksonville, FL neighborhood. Two ladies bought it and love it as well.
I was in college in Bellingham, WA in the late 2000s when i stumble upon a Pao. Had an eye for the "Pike" cars ever since.
