Words by Phineas Fletcher (1582-1650)
Drop, drop, slow tears,
And bathe those beauteous feet
Which brought from Heaven
The news and Prince of Peace.
Cease not, wet eyes,
His mercy to entreat;
To cry for vengeance
Sin doth never cease.
In your deep floods
Drown all my faults and fears;
Nor let His eye
See sin, but through my tears. Видеоклипы
Bravissimi! ❤❤❤
Exquisitely moving. Perfect tempo for the mood of the text and occasion.
Thank you for bringing an old piece to life again at the time it's most needed.
Yes indeed
Thank you gentlemen
What extraordinary talent and humanity - in Orlando Gibbons and the Gesualdo Six
And Phineas Fletcher!
Thanks, very enjoyable and welcome! Rare to hear this kind of singing any more.
As a memoriam to her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II this could not be surpassed.
Absolutely beautiful!
Drop, drop, slow tears,
And bathe those beauteous feet
Which brought from Heaven
The news and Prince of Peace.
Cease not, wet eyes,
His mercy to entreat
To cry for vengeance
Sin doth never cease.
In your deep floods
Drown all my faults and fears
Nor let His eye
See sin, but through my tears.
Just stumbled upon these guys , they are fantastic , and moving . For some reason I assumed this was an English church , and I assumed they were English and this was an English hymn . By the comments , I think I was right . But , I’m not sure . I have watched a couple of videos and they seem to sing in lots of different churches in different countries and the acoustics are always so cool !!
Wonderful. I have sung this too. Sometimes I sang with counter tenors which is lovely to do (for me) as long as the sopranos have a similar tone .
Please show the music. It would really be interesting to follow along with your exquisite singing
I only count four, not six. 😊
There are Six, but in this particular piece, four are featured.
