90s and early 2000s movies like this one and Princess Diaries completely screwed up my view on wearing glasses when I was young. When I was told that I needed glasses at age 12, I was devastated. I was like "This is it, I am the ugly unpopular girl now", I was so SO ashamed.
I'm glad that teenage girls nowadays don't think like that anymore, glasses are a pretty accessory now. Until today when I'm having a bad day I still feel self-conscious about wearing glasses and I'm 26 now. It's just been burned into my brain that glasses are unattractive when I was a child, guess I'll never fully get rid of it (I don't think like that about other people who wear glasses though).
She could easily play an temptress who disguised herself as an innocent bookworm, kinda like Sosuke Aizen in Bleach.
i like how nice the girl doing the makeover is, she’s not rude and is pretty nice in telling her what she wants to change. She at the end even says “but not improved” because she already looked good

They would always make sure the girls had the largest most awkward looking glasses frames & lenses too! Nowadays you can get glasses that have much smaller prettier frames but I have yet to see one of these movies that, instead of just completely getting rid the glasses, has the girl getting the makeover switch from having an ugly awkward big pair of glasses to a more elegant pretty smaller pair of glasses 😊

I enjoy how Mac says “new, not improved but different” cause Laney didn’t need to improve and Mac recognizes that. Sure she looks different but Laney is still Laney and I like that
Laney was beautiful before her makeover. Mackenzie just showed her how to embrace her beauty and get her to open up and come out of her shell. Zack was the one who got her to break some of her barriers. It wasn't until Zack saw how vulnerable Laney felt that he was genuinely in love and didn't care about the bet.

I absolutely love Rachael Leigh Cook. I loved her in _She's All That, Josie and the Pussycats, Perception, Carpool, Scorched_ and _Get Carter_ (2000). I love how what was considered in need of a makeover back then is now in 2020s fashionable and stylish aka vintage i wear my dungarees and i love them and im growing my hair as long as i can.
She was beautiful before and after i like how , now its all diferent styles that are considered whilst walking around unique stylish and gorgeous. Its just the television and media that aims for perfection that isnt real.

I also like how after her makeover everyone still recognized who she was because afterall it was only a haircut and contacts.
