That's the fundamental issue of being lost. He knows and believes everything of and about Jesus but wanted to do and live as he pleases. The Samaritan woman whom Jesus met at Jacob's Well knew and believed that the Messiah would come, and yet she needed to take by faith the Living Water He alone could provide for her. She needed to be saved because she was lost. The prodigal son had the very same problem. He wanted to break loose from his dad and family to indulge in a life of debauchery and sin until he realized what he had done was sin and rebellion. Fortunately he returned, asking his dad's forgiveness, and was immediately restored.
Acts 13:48 "...and all who were appointed (or ordained-kjv) to eternal life became believers (or believed - kjv)." John 6: 29 "This is the work of God that you believe on Him whom He has sent." Turning away from sin (repentance) unto God (by receiving Jesus Christ) is God's work in people's lives.
2:09** Man...that is EXACTLY what I thought back in summer of 05'. I thought that God was going to make me quit Bodybuilding & Kickboxing and move to some obscure country and build tuts for the rest of my life, but that wasn't the case at ALL!
Kids need to obey their parents' authority unless the parents are not giving them a Godly household upbringing that contradicts the teachings of Christianity. I hope this is a good teaching point in life for everyone. Here's a simple totem pole of proper and civilized authority in the Christian household: 1. God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) 2.The Dad 3. The Mom 4.The kids (I guess the parents can decide on how to setup sibling authority)
Even though Jesus forgives us for all our sins, it does not mean that we are saved, it is only the first step towards this path that leads to the opening of the soul by the Holy Spirit to be discovered Within ourself the mistakes that have caused this great separation from God, first our first parents and after all mankind. And the only way to redeem oneself is to go through the examination of Truth. To see ourselves in the depths of ourselves knowing ourselves by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who will guide us to the whole truth and without that we will never be able to see God, I suggest you read this book with this unique name. I hate it that Tullian got involved in the cultural big name celebrity pastor lifestyle. If only people could take what God has given them and simply go and make disciples out in the world where the rubber meets the highway.
Praise the Lord, I pray that this young man gets to know the Lord in His fullness.
