Thanks for the great videos! I'm a US citizen, but living 100% in the UK for +10 years. I'm now managing (but not owner) of a UK business planning to start sales in the US soon. It sounds like I could get the EIN online with my SSN, but wondering if that would create a personal tax liability for me? Or can I just setup the UK business without linking it to me? Thx!
Hi Kexin - Great video! Planning to setup a print on demand business with Shopify to sell to USA customers. I will use a third party like Printify for product creation and shipping. QQs: 1 - Can I get a FEIN as a physical person instead of having to form an LLC in USA? 2 - Since I don´t have an SSN or ITIN, how can I get sales tax ids when the threshold is passed? Reason I ask is because you mention in the 5 steps PDF that many states will require to fill out a form and mail it. Could you elaborate on this process? Not sure if there´s a video explaining this specific situation here in the YT channel. 3 - My understanding is that I’d not be required to pay income taxes in USA from my POD business as I am not a fiscal resident there (disregarded entity). I’d only be required to submit sales tax on the states where the threshold is reached. Could you please let me know if all this is correct? Thanks for your help. Appreciate it! :)

@@LedgerGurus Thanks for your reply. @@LedgerGurus 1 - ¨Only individuals with taxpayer identification numbers can apply for an EIN as the responsible party." --> I have a taxpayer identification number from my country. Can I get the FEIN or does it have to necessarily be a USA taxpayer identification number? 2 - So you 100% need an ITIN if you don't have a SSN to get sales tax ids in USA? 3 - If you create a USA LLC to run your business in USA and you get the EIN for the LLC, do you still need to get an ITIN to be able to receive sales tax ids? If that's the case, you get the ITIN for the LLC or at a personal level? Thanks for your help. Appreciate it.
Hello, I'm an NZ business planning to import goods from China into the US, and fulfil them to my US customers from a 3PL in California. Should I get an EIN? And I guess I will need to register for sales tax, at least for the states I have nexus in?
If you are fulfilling from a 3PL in CA, then you will have a physical presence there, which means you will need to register for a sales tax permit in CA and to do that you may need an EIN. Here's more information: www.sba.gov/business-guide/launch-your-business/get-federal-state-tax-id-numbers#:~:text=It's%20free%20to%20apply%20for,as%20a%20corporation%20or%20partnership. I would suggest contacting CA department of revenue and asking if you need an EIN to get a sales tax permit there.
@@LedgerGurus if I use a 3PL in a state without sales tax, will it make things easier as I won’t have to register and pay it in the state I have nexus in?
Fantastic video! As a Canadian dropshipper with US suppliers selling to US customers across many US states, does one need to setup a US entity? Isn't it enough to only have a Canadian registered business?
Hello, thank you for the step-by-step instruction. May I please ask- if the applicant is a foreign corporation, do I leave the "form number to be filed" blank after checking "Corporation" for 9a? Do you recommend attach a copy of the company's English certificate of incorporation be helpful for 9a and 9b? If so, would you recommend that document be certified by a local CPA or notary public? Thank you once again for your insight and clarification.
Hello, when I entered EIN number in the tax interview on Merch by Amazon, I was requested to input a business address in the US :( But I'm a non-US citizen, so I'm stuck with a 30% tax withholding
Thak you very much Kexin, Step 1 DONE: I OBTAINED MY EIN following your instructions. Register means obtain a Certificate of Authority? I live in Italy. My Italian Business entity is a Sole Proprietorship and few days ago I obtained my EIN from the IRS. I would like to register my Italian Business entity in Wyoming, buy wholesale in US and resell in Amazon (US). Now.. to buy wholesale I need a RESALE CERTIFICATE . I have some questions, may you help me please? 1) Register my Italian Sole Proprietorship means obtaining a Certificate of authority? 2) What are the steps to obtain a Resale Certificate in Wyoming? Are they: Certificate of authority, SELLER’S PERMIT and finally EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE? 3) Do I need to apply for the ITIN too? I wait your answers, thanks in advance.
You will need to register your business with Wyoming’s Secretary of State and then a sales tax license, which will get you the resale certificate. And I’m so glad you got your EIN! That’s the hardest part!
