      Functional ears can already be grown under the skin on your forehead. The only disadvantages are that they possibly won't work, and you have to have an ear under the skin of your forehead for I assume at least 3 months.

    I just wanted to say thanks for showing your daily procedures and your spin on doing things. Most of all thanks to showing the world you are just a typical teenage girl with all the typical ups and downs. You're a lovely young lady. While I'm on the other end of the spectrum being an elderly male, I know the process of getting new prosthetic with my feet. The one question I have is how do the figure your height since you been an amputee since a young girl. Is there a certain height you hold for yourself? I know I keep the same shoe size I was at before my feet went all "wonky" being comfortable at that size (despite having large feet lol!). Never loose that sunny outlook and smile.
    P.S. you always bring a snicker to me the way you tease and fondle your hair. Just like a lady always patting and Fluffy it around.

    Thank you for sharing. I was wondering if your old legs are used for other patients or just recycled? Also, based on your videos, I can tell you have a huge heart! You're a very elegant young lady. With that, being that your heart doesn't have to pump blood as far, does it work more efficiently and will it actually remain stronger into your adult years? Thank you again, you're an inspiration to all!!!

      Rick Williams The nhs doesn’t recycle the prosthetic components but there are some fantastic charities that will take donated Prosthetics from the uk and then ship them over to Africa and India and given to people that need them www.legs4africa.org and www.joininghands.org.uk or www.healcharity.org Speak to your limb Centre to ask if they have a donation box to donate your old Prosthetics, orthotics, crutches and wheelchairs and they can direct you to these charities. 😍

I see you're taking your life by the horns so to speak. I'm from the US so I think it's interesting learning about how the UK does things. Thanks again for educating us in so many ways!!! 💗

  • @jefftesting12345

    So I have a question, they make those full size silicone dolls. Could they take your prosthetics and cast them in silicone to make them look more like real legs? I watch the video of you talking about the comments that little kids make in the stairs and I'm just wondering if they can cast your Prosthetics inside a silicone leg so it actually look like a normal human leg as to a mechanical?

    • @letty6927
      @letty6927 6 лет назад +56

      It might look realistic but I don't think silicone is durable enough for everyday use, I can just imagine the silicon would get damaged and stained very quickly and it would be difficult to repair. But then again I don't really know much about silicone :P

      I know they do make some that have an outer skin part that is like a silicone rubber that very much looks like regular organic legs that let you wear socks, thigh high socks, and shoes also. Some people might swap between them and the kinds with the blade like she has to do more athletic activities. They are also developing the self powered assisting bionic prosthetics that have a normal walk gate and let people climb stairs easier.

    • @Ana-rw3vn
      @Ana-rw3vn 6 лет назад +3

      They have different levels of prosthetics. She's is at a high level because of her activity level. So the leg she has is build for that. If she was at a lower activity level they would give her a different leg, possibly one with a knee as well as an ankle joint.
      It's also based off of preference

    • @onidaaitsubasa4177
      @onidaaitsubasa4177 6 лет назад

    I find it hard to believe that those blades will not snap at some point in time. They look, from an engineering point of view, rather fragile but I'm sure they're not. I dare say they give a bit of flex/cushioning when walking. Must be a right pain in the B** having to go through that fitting every 2 or so years? I am curious to know if the sockets get a bit of machining with a Dremel on the inside for a closer/better fit once cast? Being a time served mechanical fitter, I've had to fit a few things in my time but not prosthetics. Very enjoyable to watch. Thank You.

    You're so pretty. You should get some cool 3d printed arms (in pink) like in scifi.

    Do they have like cool looking covers that you can get it to put over where you get them colored pink. I am sure they probably make something like that but I’m just curious I think that would be a cool thing to have so you can change them up all the time like a cell phone case. I am a 32 year-old mua from Oregon in the United States and I really love your videos you are so amazing and have so much going for you. Your personality is absolutely amazing. I also love how much of a positive attitude you have I know that you help a lot of people and that is so admirable.Keep making amazing videos and have an awesome new year.

    Will you always have to get them replaced every 2 years or will it be less frequent once you stop growing?

      Nat Anglin I’m curious to know how they choose what height to make her. Bc my cousin had one leg amputated so they just made her the height of the other but having lost two legs how would they decide?

      I think she said in another video that the height is adjustable so she can choose how tall she wants to be each day!

    I feel so silly when your were talking about the casting I was like yeah that sounds hard , like if you just stand on your stumps how to do they cast them but when I saw you and they did it one leg at a time makes so more sense

    I have a question concerning your prosthetics so wide apart compared to ordinary legs? And why do your hips tilt (hope its the right word) backwards?

    • @angeldelight900
      @angeldelight900 6 лет назад +10

      Ente Duck I always wondered this, think it’s where the body is trying to balance itself out maybe?

    • @marinaz7579
      @marinaz7579 6 лет назад +53

      I think she mentioned this in one of her older videos, it's because her legs are amputated up to her knees, so she can't bend her legs (with prosthetics or not), and she uses her hips instead to be able to walk! Something about balancing it out. I might be wrong but that's what I remember:)

    • @TheAnon26
      @TheAnon26 6 лет назад +25

      Theyre wide apart because she has pretty wide hips I guess. As to the tilt, its because she cant move her knees, so a lot of that movement comes from her hips and lower back instead. Not great for her back ofc, but its that or a wheelchair.

    • @willehq
      @willehq 6 лет назад +15

      Her legs have to move outward instead of the "normal" knee bend that people without leg amputations have because,,,, well she doesn't have knees to bend! So it looks like she's kinda penguin walking because the hip joint is really the only leg joint she has!

    • @wihamaki
      @wihamaki 5 лет назад

      There's a huge difference between being amputated above or below the knee. Some people with bone cancer have had their knee amputated and their foot reattached backward so they will have a joint they can control. Without a knee joint, she's doing very well and it's obvious she's experienced and well adjusted by how well she's doing.

    That's really cool! are you also thinking of getting prosthethic arms too? or would you say you are 100% capable of arms and hands? Happy for you ❤❤😊

    Curiosity.. why don't they use plaster of paris (i think thats what its called)? Sit your leg in it, wait for it to dry and then cast your leg that way? Would it not fit better and mould to your shape more accurately? Really love watching this. Nice to see what process you have to go through (: Also, do you just get the top part of your prosthetic done or the whole leg including the blades?

    • @IsabelleWeall
      @IsabelleWeall  6 лет назад +1

      The bandages are coated in a similar sort of thing so they shape to my leg and them harden.

    • @sarahb4356
      @sarahb4356 6 лет назад +1

      Plaster like that actually heats up as it cures so placing a part of your body into it while it does so is actually dangerous. I have seen some videos where people have things cast using silicone mould material in a similar way to what your are talking about but it isn’t really any more accurate than the method in this video.
