  • Guanella Pass is a beautiful mountain drive that leaves directly out of Georgetown Colorado. We decided to take this scenic drive after riding the train in Georgetown. We only went to the summit and back down but it continues on South all the way to Hwy 285 in Grant, CO. We hit it at a great time to see the Fall color change.

Want to see beatuiful fall colors come to the mountains of Kentucky or Tennessee, all the hardwoods make so many colors for a week or two it really is something.

Loving the Colorado videos since I haven't visited there yet. One thing....fast forward on curvy roads is hard on those of us with motion sickness. lol I lived through it. Keep 'em coming.

I love Guanella Pass. One of my favorite motorcycle roads. The south side is just as beautiful but completely different then the north side. Worth the ride down next time.

I'm enjoying your Colorado adventure. I left that area 19 years ago. My family roots were there. My grandfather was the first fireman on the pikes peak cog wheel railroad when he was 13. The engine is in co springs train museum.

Awesome! Glad you made the trip up the pass. As explained in a comment I left in the last video, that place is very special to me. I only wish you went down the other side into Grant, past my friend Lynn's place. The Aspens look like veins of gold up on the mountains. It is amazing.
Seriously, if I could go one place to have a final cup of cowboy coffee in the morning and never be seen again, up there at that prospector's cabin would be it.

I know the other side would have been great, but the drive back the way we come was a little faster and we were ready to get back into town. I’m sure we’ll back to Breck again and we’ll take that whole drive.

Thank you for the wonderful video of the Colorado high country. There is nothing more beautiful than Aspens in the fall mixed with Pine and Fir trees.

About 6-7 years ago I/we hiked up to the summit of mt Evans from
the guanella pass side to avoid the mass quantity of people. The west side is basically a swamp full of willows and muddy trails. It was rough but it was the most memorable 14er of my 20+ years of living in Colorado.
Guanella pass is a really fun loop to/from Denver on motorcycle via 285/I70. Gotta plan it to avoid the weekend mountain traffic.

Adam, Abby glad your having lots of fun in Colorado. Seeing that Clear Lake there, reminds me of the little river you were by the other day at that reservoir...just makes you want to take your shoes off and sit on a rock with your feet in the water and take in the ambience of nature around you.

It's awesome seeing one of my favorite RUclipsrs visiting places I've literally grown up going to. I've stood at that same spot at Clear Lake I don't know how many times.

Really enjoying your trip guys! "We're at 11,700ft"! Haha! We don't have mountains here in Australia, only hills. Our highest peak (Mt Kosciusko) is a mere 7,310 ft :(

Thanks for the wonderful views. Too bad there are so many people. Saw the summit Google Maps view with all of the cars lined up on the side of the road 1/2 mile from the visitor parking lots ! So awful but you are lucky to avoid that cluster.

Those fall colors are pretty for sure. A cool train ride is the cumbers toltech railway from antonito colorado to Chama new Mexico through the rio Grande national forest you can take the train from Chama to antonito or vice versa.

Those reservoirs are used by Excel energy as a hydro electric storage system. They store water in the upper reservoir until demand is high, then release it to the lower one to generate extra power. Then they pump it back to the upper one when demand is low.

Should've gone down the other side of the pass into Grant. That side of the pass is actually way more gorgeous. More golden trees and hiking and creeks etc. But still beautiful on Georgetown side.

Adam; just a suggestion, buy two pairs of good binoculars for your trips. They’re justified given the country you’re travelling in.
