Rosé remind us to be humble despite of the success we have in life, she's truly beautiful inside out and I want to thank you guys for reacting to hér song.
Some people might interpret this as a love song but it's actually a song comparing her past to her previous self who used to live in a hole in a wall (they literally had to deal with bugs crawling in their dorm rooms). We see at the end the pre-debut, younger her named "Roseanne." This trainee self wanted everything: she wanted such fame and success to climb so high that she could say "I'm never coming down." But the older Rosé wearing the black and pink dress is reflecting on her journey and realizing that this isn't what she truly wanted. All she ever needed was what was around her "On the Ground." What she thought was gold is really just plastic.
It hits even harder because Rosé has talked and cried about her journey a few times now. Especially in their recent vlog series called "24/365" where the four of them were sitting together and talking about their trainee days and Rosé was crying again. She's so precious :(
After you guys react to her other single "Gone" which is confirmed to be a love song that was recorded 2 years ago according to Rosé (so many things happened that pushed back releases: YG Entertainment had to get a new CEO because the original one was facing gambling allegations, YG Entertainment still has other artists to manage as well, Covid happened, etc.), I hope you can react to a dance performance or maybe a live stage of "On The Ground." I'm not too sure which live stages may be subject to copyright though I think the Mnet one is good? Don't quote me on that. If anything, try to block out the logo of whichever music show she performs on because that seems to work in general for most reactors.

I still remember the feeling of her beautiful voice singing her own song when it dropped. I watched her preshow interview and everything leading up to the MV and i sat in my Rosé hoodie crying for like an hour watching on repeat. The fact that i remember that moment shows how powerful her voice and her message is. Rosé is very deep and detailed in her music. Everything she sings about is so relatable and timeless. 🌹🖤💕

I have to say it... I just have to. Thomas liking Rosé is just precious Rosé being an oppa collector. Rosie posie did it agaaaaiiin. Please check out her other song --> Gone. This one's more of a love song. Remember when Teddy said that Rosé creates stories in her mind when she writes songs... well, you can definitely see that in Gone. And the whole video is aesthetically pleasing. There's also so much pain in that m/v. Song production is simpler than this one, but that's when you can really hear her voice and it makes her shine a lot more.
I always felt and knew about Rosé that she is a very deep person, deep in her meanings ,in her taught, in everything… and even the producers and people that knows her says it about her. And as someone who always work so hard my whole life ,that song really took away all my stress for any perfect futur especially when that whisper she says "yeah what goes up must come down you’re running of time" and really made me realize a lot of things ❤️😭

Hey Thomas, Rosé is also my bias, I'm so in love with her sweet, quirky attitude. She wears her heart on her sleeve, which is rare to find in someone with so much fame and talent. I was lucky enough to see them in Newark, NJ on their World Tour, I gave her a blue heart pillow (she said that she loves blue hearts) during the Sound Check and she thanked me twice, I literally died, my feet were off the ground for the whole concert! Rosé CONTRIBUTED to writing this song and the b-side GONE which I prefer (probably my favorite b-side of the year, MV is more laid back and low key, but fits the song), but she's NOT THE MAIN WRITER as she basically said from her solo interviews when it was released. Her solo Zach Sang interview is a good one too (like his previous BP interview for Coachella and teleconference interview for Ice Cream with Selena Gomez). Rosé was still finding her footing in the studio back in the documentary, so hopefully we'll get a song someday written primarily by Rosé. She is the most musical member and instrumentalist. No BLACKPINK member has been a main writer on a song yet, YGE still basically controlling things to guarantee hits (an issue more likely when there are few releases and limited number of tracks). Jennie & Jisoo contributed to LSG and Lisa contributed to SG collab and made some choreo alterations to Lalisa for the Thai dance part. The ladies of BP were very involved on many aspects of their solos, including physical CD releases and artwork decisions, various input, etc.
Rosé is my ultimate bias wrecker (#2 fave in Kpop followed closely by #3 Jennie) after my ult.bias Lisa (and yes Jisoo is in my top 20, but my #4-6 are soloist Somi, DREAMCATCHER Yoohyeon and FROMIS_9 Chaeyoung).
Love the song, love the MV (also check out the dance practice video), always thought it was directed by usual BP MV director Seo Hyun-seung, but just noticed from online sources that it was credited to Han Sa Min, director of Jeon SOMI MVs like XOXO and Dumb Dumb. Jeon Somi is a soloist who works with main BP producer Teddy Park at YG sublabel THEBLACKLABEL and is friends with BLACKPINK members (her recent XOXO MV has several BP MV references). There's a mini episode of her reality miniseries I AM SOMI where Lisa hangs out with Somi and Teddy at the studio playing Animal Crossing on Switch. Jennie and Jisoo promoted Somi solo debut by dancing on IG. They actually let Somi co-write most of her songs (with 4 songs recentlyreleased that's only 8 total songs released in about 2 years 3 months, typical YG).
As others have likely mentioned, though it can be read as a love song (making it more commercial), the MV especially the great piano scene (which used to get to me every time... before I'd literally watched the MV over 500 times, ditto for Gone and Lalisa MVs) that tells you it's about current successful pop star singing to trainee version of herself with big dreams.
b-side Gone was co-produced by 24, who also produced BLACKPINK great b-side YOU NEVER KNOW, my favorite song of 2020 despite me being more into their hype songs usually.
