I was a bass trombonist (professionally) for 37years (retired in 2010). This guy does a magnificent job on this instrument. Sure wish they had this kind of literature for bass trombone back in my day. Most of my solo repertoire was tuba music.
I've played tenor for about 11 years and will always love it but recently I have considered adding a bass to the collection because I do just love that low, rich trombone sound. You obviously can get this on a tenor but man I would love to have a bass. And it's people like James that just make me want one so much more 😂
I’m impressed a lot with your performance! This piece is so amazing that I can’t forget the moment when I heard this for the first time at KTS 2023 last week… You motivated me a lot to develop further and further. Thank you for your amazing performance.
@@darrenworkman8398 An, that’s a get-a-grip. The late Newell Sheridan made them, but since his passing another company has started with a very similar design. My colleague Toby found on FB a company in the UK that makes them. I have one, and it’s pretty solid.
Whilst James is an amazing musician i am so disappointed with the current repertoire being churned out for the instrument. It all sounds the same. I could almost predict what each movement was going to sound.

JAMES YOU'RE MY HEROOO!!!
As a bass trombonist for the last 40-something years I am always inspired by Jim's performances and I really like this piece!
Great job!
So freaking amazing. Everything I aspire to be in my playing.
Fantastic
You really are the best trombonist alive
No like seriously he actually is😂
Bravo! 👏🏾
GREAT WRITING!!
Превосходно, спасибо
Markey's musicianship is always astonishing. He consistently conveys so much emotion in his playing. Truly an admirable performance
So much TONE! Wonderful piece and playing by ALL! 🏆🔥
Wonderful sound.......
Fantastic musician.........
Very impressive performance! Sensitive, compelling, mastering a most difficult piece. Flexibility over a wide range -- stunning.
Thank you so much!

James, your tone, pitch, and the connectivity of your message are all beautifully done. Congratulations!
Stunning as usual and another great work by Kevin Day!

This video is very impressive to me. You demonstrated a beautiful bass trombone tone, phrasing and overall artistry. I enjoyed this video very much!
Wonderful playing! Wish I'd known you were going to be at GGS - I would have loved to see this live :)
Thanks! The class was open only to GGS students, until they changed their policy that morning to allow outside guests in for classes
Can I say brilliant ?
Where can I get this solo. I am doing a recital in July and would like to add this solo.
It’s actually exclusive to the Consortium right now, but will be available to the public in November 2022 - glad you like the piece!
What brand and model is your Bass trombone?
It’s an Edwards B502-i, with a Griego-Markey 90 mouthpiece
Hey there! Phenomenal playing, as always. Where did you get your wrist brace? I'm looking to procuring on myself.
