Because he is now a biased liberal, his view point is heavily tilted towards Nawaz Shareef. If you honestly listen to his response, directly and indirectly he tried to belittle Imran Khan, second he was miser in accepting the overwhelming support IK commands right now. As an act of balance, you should interview Ayaz Aamir, he would sound pro IK, but he won't be biased. But if you want a complete neutral person, who won't take sides, would be Mazhar Abbas.

Anybody watching this should instead watch Shekhar Gupta's excellent analysis of the situation in Pakistan. This is poor from Karan Thapar, interviewing Najam Sethi who is a known beneficiary, crony and loyal henchman of the Sharif Dynasty. It really makes me question his journalistic integrity and the capability of the editorial team at the wire.
He twisted the fact claiming that the establishment is not siding with anyone and is neutral. This is utter BS; the present government of 16 parties (including MQM) cannot sustain a single day without the help of the establishment.

Pakistani Awam, who are the real victims of decades of political and economic mismanagement and corruption, are now very well-informed and wide awake about everything under the sun. They may be critical of one or two maverick Generals, but they will never stand against their army, and likewise the army rank and file will never stand against their own people. The same patriotism and same blood flows through the veins of the Awam and the Army. It is obvious that a very peaceful revolution is underway in Pakistan, supported fully by the Pakistani diaspora in many foreign countries. IK has understood the people’s sentiments and their demands. He speaks sincerely on their behalf and is willing to risk his life for them. Its obvious that Najam Sethi is saying less, hiding much and underestimating the impact of the long march on the current dispensation in Pakistan. The fact is that the current standoff between Imran Khan and the army establishment in Pakistan marked as it's by friction, hostility and loss of trust of one another is a side effect of the crisis that was precipitated by the army in cahoots with the thoroughly corrupt politicians to overthrow IK's govt. from power. However, rather than looking at these developments as a result of an effort by IK to humble and weaken the army establishment, the signs of the army having lost its face and the love and awe it would command from the people of that country not long ago may be seen as an act of God to clean up the mess involving the politics of that country that the army cannot wash its hands off. The point is that as part of its inbuilt and deep urge to throw its weight around in electing and then sacking governments, and now its latest act of harakiri to overthrow the elected government of Pakistan, has been the chief reason for its loss of face in public.It's this brazen misuse of authority that is beginning to lead to its loss of heft and unbridled power that it would unobtrusively wield in making and breaking governments in their country. The recent extraordinary and unprecedented appearance of the DG ISI at a press conference may be seen as a first ominous sign of the army losing its stranglehold on the affairs of their country. And that's good news for that country. Because the rogue shall cease to exceed its mandate. But to read into these developments the loss of verve, zeal and the firepower in the army to take on those who may be seen as posing a threat to that country, both from within and without, is wishful and may be dangerously misleading. Underestimating the army on one hand or Imran Khan on the other could be a monumental misreading of the developments unfolding in Pakistan right now. All other players on the political chessboard of Pakistan including such filthy souls as Shareefs, Zardaris and their minions may be one too many to be counted, but they are too lacklustre and ordinary to count.
The only two correct things Mr Sethi has been able to come up with have been: (1) Imraan Khan is the most popular leader in Pakistan today. (2) The current government has brought the country's economy to its knees, if not its toes. He forgets that: (1) PTI is the only party that can win election with the establishment staying neutral. All the others need "help" to win. (2) PTI is only reacting. We can't blame it for the turmoil. They were illegally thrown out after a cipher was received that said precisely that. (3) Supporting journalists and politicians have been captured, tortured and killed. Even IK himslef has been shot at and he's been denied even a complaint. (4) One the most democratically-minded leaders is Imraan Khan. The Shareefs and the Zrdaaris are dynasties. He is firm but not dicatatorial. (5) Imraan made the country do better than most others in the pandemic and even subsidised oil prices when they were rising all over the world. (6) Exports, foreign exchange reserves and remittances were at their highest, so was the CDS rating. (7) If buying wheat from Russia was impulsive back then, why is everyone doing so now? (8) Even after his removal he managed to gather more donations for flood relief than the government (which by the way had to stoop to new lows by blocking deposits in PTI and Chief Minister of The Punjab accounts and attempting to divert them to Prime Minister's accounts. It's not rhetoric, boss. These are factual figures.

A possible solution and win win for all without shedding any blood. Pakistan is almost bankrupt. India should negotiate an agreement with Pakistan and offer money in exchange for POK. Pakistan uses this lifeline money and repays CPEC/Chinese debt and gets off the hook,. attempts to brings its flagging economy on track, China gets their stuck money and happily move out of place which has militant mentality and is on its way to become the next Afghanistan/Sudan, India gets peace on borders and no more bloodshed on either side. Indian economy is so strong we will earn this money in no time (in fact we have decent forex reserves as well) plus develop Kashmir as a world class tourism spot. Kashmiri's will be happy as their lives would change with money flowing in from development and tourism after peace and stability in the region. Jihad is going no where. No one should expect to get things free or by using force . MONEY makes people talk.

Pakistani Awam, who are the real victims of decades of political and economic mismanagement and corruption, are now very well-informed and wide awake about everything under the sun. They may be critical of one or two maverick Generals, but they will never stand against their army, and likewise the army rank and file will never stand against their own people. The same patriotism and same blood flows through the veins of the Awam and the Army. It is obvious that a very peaceful revolution is underway in Pakistan, supported fully by the Pakistani diaspora in many foreign countries. IK has understood the people’s sentiments and their demands. He speaks sincerely on their behalf and is willing to risk his life for them. Its obvious that Najam Sethi is saying less, hiding much and underestimating the impact of the long march on the current dispensation in Pakistan. The fact is that the current standoff between Imran Khan and the army establishment in Pakistan marked as it's by friction, hostility and loss of trust of one another is a side effect of the crisis that was precipitated by the army in cahoots with the thoroughly corrupt politicians to overthrow IK's govt. from power. However, rather than looking at these developments as a result of an effort by IK to humble and weaken the army establishment, the signs of the army having lost its face and the love and awe it would command from the people of that country not long ago may be seen as an act of God to clean up the mess involving the politics of that country that the army cannot wash its hands off. The point is that as part of its inbuilt and deep urge to throw its weight around in electing and then sacking governments, and now its latest act of harakiri to overthrow the elected government of Pakistan, has been the chief reason for its loss of face in public.It's this brazen misuse of authority that is beginning to lead to its loss of heft and unbridled power that it would unobtrusively wield in making and breaking governments in their country. The recent extraordinary and unprecedented appearance of the DG ISI at a press conference may be seen as a first ominous sign of the army losing its stranglehold on the affairs of their country.
And that's good news for that country. Because the rogue shall cease to exceed its mandate. But to read into these developments the loss of verve, zeal and the firepower in the army to take on those who may be seen as posing a threat to that country, both from within and without, is wishful and may be dangerously misleading. Underestimating the army on one hand or Imran Khan on the other could be a monumental misreading of the developments unfolding in Pakistan right now. All other players on the political chessboard of Pakistan including such filthy souls as Shareefs, Zardaris and their minions may be one too many to be counted, but they are too lacklustre and ordinary to count.

The only two correct things Mr Sethi has been able to come up with have been:
(1) Imraan Khan is the most popular leader in Pakistan today.
(2) The current government has brought the country's economy to its knees, if not its toes.
He forgets that:
(1) PTI is the only party that can win election with the establishment staying neutral. All the others need "help" to win.
(2) PTI is only reacting. We can't blame it for the turmoil. They were illegally thrown out after a cipher was received that said precisely that.
(3) Supporting journalists and politicians have been captured, tortured and killed. Even IK himslef has been shot at and he's been denied even a complaint.
(4) One the most democratically-minded leaders is Imraan Khan. The Shareefs and the Zrdaaris are dynasties. He is firm but not dicatatorial.
(5) Imraan made the country do better than most others in the pandemic and even subsidised oil prices when they were rising all over the world.
(6) Exports, foreign exchange reserves and remittances were at their highest, so was the CDS rating.
(7) If buying wheat from Russia was impulsive back then, why is everyone doing so now?
(8) Even after his removal he managed to gather more donations for flood relief than the government (which by the way had to stoop to new lows by blocking deposits in PTI and Chief Minister of The Punjab accounts and attempting to divert them to Prime Minister's accounts.

A possible solution and win win for all without shedding any blood. Pakistan is almost bankrupt. India should negotiate an agreement with Pakistan and offer money in exchange for POK. Pakistan uses this lifeline money and repays CPEC/Chinese debt and gets off the hook,. attempts to brings its flagging economy on track, China gets their stuck money and happily move out of place which has militant mentality and is on its way to become the next Afghanistan/Sudan, India gets peace on borders and no more bloodshed on either side. Indian economy is so strong we will earn this money in no time (in fact we have decent forex reserves as well) plus develop Kashmir as a world class tourism spot. Kashmiri's will be happy as their lives would change with money flowing in from development and tourism after peace and stability in the region. Jihad is going no where.
