Thanks for the review. Ive also gone to a GE200 live for about a year now. Covers band playing everything from disco to Classic Rock and everything in between. To get the most out of it I use the merge function on the expression pedal as a solo boost ... super simple way to boost gain reverb and delay in one swipe of the boot!! I think Im going to upgrade to a GE250 and keep the 200 as a back up. Rock on!!
Just a side note. On the ge200 it's a benefit to have no on/off switch. I live in a ungrounded house and it makes you pull the cable to turn it off. Therefore making a power surge have no effect at all on it. On the other modelers most will keep it plugged in Leaving it liable for a surge to reach the board and burn it up. Even while off.
Oh god, this brought back memories trying to tweak my pod X3 to sound decent, just to accidentally change preset and blowing my ears up haha! This one's a completly different ballgame, nice demonstration bud
Nice video and review. I've been going back and forth whether to byu this or not. My present setup is Mooer Preamp Live! and Mooer Ocean Machine at the same pedalboard. Awesome combination and you get a great sound but lacks diversity to setup sounds because you have to do all the setting with a computer via Mooer Studio for Preamp Live. It's all good if you're at home and meddling with a computer at a same time but really awkward when doing live shows or even in a band practice. I really think that this piece of an equipment will solve all those problems and it's got built-in effects so I don't need to meddle with the Ocean Machine (awesome device, but I'm not that into tweaking my delays or reverbs). When I heard the 5150 sound (and actually Recto also) it was very clear that I want this to replace my old Mooer setup. And yes, on-off-switch is a definitely plus. I missed it big time when using Preamp Live! because unplugging the power outlet every time when you stop playing is just annoying! Great video and love your playing. When you were on Mors and also your solo stuff. Keep up the good work! \,,/
Was really impressed with this and the GE300 at NAMM. Seems like only yesterday I was using your presets on my old GE200 before I partnered with HeadRush. Ah, nostalgia...
Nice review! How exactly do you use the mooer in a live situation? I’m assuming you run it with a power amp but do you also run it through a cab or just direct? Interested to find out as I’m also trying to eliminate amps and cabs.
For the most compact setup, just run one of the outputs direct into the mixing desk with cab simulation on, then use in ear monitors onstage. No cabs or amps onstage needed. The Mooer GE250 sounds great both live and in the studio plugged direct like that.
Hi Andy how can I download your presets if I buy this?.Also can I have the option to have 3 settings on one?.Can I have say a clean setting for an intro then distortion for chorus and also a lead guitar setting ?.Thanks
Hey Gazza! I've been so busy with some really tight deadlines that I never got around to uploading patches of my own for the GE250. I have ones for the GE200 available but will have to make some in the near future when I get a chance. But I think that 5150 comp tone was pretty close to where I'd be aiming a rhythm tone for and for lead I'd just make a different version of that and add reverb/delay and tweak from there, maybe a little more gain and a touch more mids. As for your other question, you can totally have three tones all lined up on A B and C!
Andy Gillion thanks andy for taking the time out to reply as I know you are super busy.I have been following you and your band on RUclips and also your documentaries. You are an unbelievable guitar player and also a very funny guy,Keep then Videos coming man :-)
Why do all my presets on this pedal sound pretty bad. Nothing like these. Maybe the amp. I've tried through an active pa cab and 50w crate and line 6 combo.
Thanks for the vid man! What are your thoughts on the tuner? I was hoping it had an upgraded tuner but it has the same one as the ge200, which I hate because my snark clip-on is much more accurate and displays more cents as visual aid when tuning, which if you ask me is absolutely ridiculous considering the 450 USD price tag. Thanks!
I'm listening with headphones but seems like that thing sounds reaaaally good for a 450€ unit. I'll be using it either for a folk/blues semi acoustic project with a gretsch or dowtuned death-djent-core-modern-bullshit ans seems like it can do both. I'll have to try it out. Do you know if it'll work on those 9V pedal bank batteries ? It'll also make an awesome transportable headphone practice tool. I wonder what the wah is worth, I can't seem to see reviews of it. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed your spontaneoussness. Subscribed. Have a nice day!
I can vouch for the wah, I actually tracked a guest solo with it and it was surprisingly good! As for the battery question, maybe hit up Mooer and ask them on that one as I'm not entirely sure. Cheers for the sub and the kind words!
It's just a size thing, the Axe FX still gets used as a rack in the "studio" but it's a pain to take that with you on tour as it takes up half a suitcase. Of course they now make other options too though
Compared to the old axe fx and axe fx ultra yes, definitely! Same tones but less tweaking. But i wouldn't say axe fx 2 or even 3. Helix yes, with an good Ir. But with the tone capture you can get around 95% of your real amp tone which is awesome!
All of these processor designers should STOP putting weird shit in with serious presets, they should give you 50 distortion settings in one spot, 50 cleans in another section, mating elephant settings in an entirely different section.
Gotta love the random bits that get left in Andy’s video’s. Bumps something, momentarily stops to inspect and think wtf before getting back on with it 😄 It’s like that episode of Seinfeld... Viewer: “so, what’s your content about?” Andy: “let me sum it up in one word...” “Nothing!”

@@andygillion I understand that Kerf meant that we hear the sound picked up by the microphone at the same time as your voice, or is the sound of the guitar only through the sound card? Then you should have headphones.. Please specify :-D This is how it mixes together.. But maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, Mooer is great.
a very good start: no need for intros and no need for unboxing

Carry on.
Great demo and playing!
...and the Hole returns! Nice no BS review- dig the MK bits during the camera incident! Well done, Andy 🤘
Cheers dude :)
9:46 , you say they captured some real

into a decent tube amp, does is then sound
like a spider II amp?
Finally someone said it... unboxing videos are boring

They finally made a power switch button for this one. Only thing that bothers me with the ge200..
Yup it was really strange haha
Hi, is there a pitch shift on the pedalboard? if so is it possible to play up to 2 tones with good quality?
Great video!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks for watching!
Love this, Really nice. Do you need a DI Box or do you just use xlr to a pa mixer?"
no D.I box necessary! I just plug straight out with an XLR into my audio interface, into the PC :)
10:59 Conquering is for Keith Merrow’s band Conquering Dystopia maybe? They name the patches goofy
6:49. Bro could You fix that horrible sound? On My mooer ge 250 it also makes horrible sound in the " slow gear 2" preset
Finally someone get real about unboxings.
Can we assign our loaded IR to XLR's and connect GE 250 out AMP in at the same time ?
Oh god, this brought back memories trying to tweak my pod X3 to sound decent, just to accidentally change preset and blowing my ears up haha! This one's a completly different ballgame, nice demonstration bud
Haha cheers dude! I feel ya
Can I set this to bypass the preamp in my 6505 and use a clean amp model when changing from the high gain channel if I use the 4 cable method ?
Good review! A question - is it possible to set the tuner to silent, so when you switch the tuner on it's already in silent mode? Thanks.
yes I believe there is a mute button you can hit so it silences it when you go to the tuner
@@andygillion Ok thanks, I'll try that.
interesting pick holding technique, must definitely try this ;)
It's got "trail" function as well for spillover. Useful for live gig.
Anyway, nice review.

Nice review! How exactly do you use the mooer in a live situation? I’m assuming you run it with a power amp but do you also run it through a cab or just direct? Interested to find out as I’m also trying to eliminate amps and cabs.
Mooer also make a tiny power amp called the BabyBomb. I usually run into that, and then a cab, and run a separate line to front of house also!
For the most compact setup, just run one of the outputs direct into the mixing desk with cab simulation on, then use in ear monitors onstage. No cabs or amps onstage needed. The Mooer GE250 sounds great both live and in the studio plugged direct like that.
Thanks, buddy.. Really helped my thoughts on this, positively.. And liking and commenting is no bother at all..!
Should I go for line6 pod hd500x or mooer ge250

Hella player dude.
I know you're a 6 string standard tuning guy, but do you know if that thing can handle the lows of a 7string?
I've heard nothing but good things and I can't imagine it would be a problem at all
It suits low tuning totally well. Just stick to the low tuning rules(boost in front, less gain, less bass, around 1-3 minus at around 250hz)
Why XLR is important ? I don't get it.
so the GE300 or the Ampero?
Nice job
Seeing that you use the Axe-Fx in most of your home studio videos, could you say a few words about why you prefer the Mooer over that for live?
It's just a size thing, the Axe FX still gets used as a rack in the "studio" but it's a pain to take that with you on tour as it takes up half a suitcase. Of course they now make other options too though
Shit, you just made me go out and buy one. Thanks Andy!...
Andy is this at the level of an axe fx or a helix??
I'd have to say they are definitively comparable. I have a friend who runs a studio who prefers the Mooer to Axe FX but everyone has their preference
Compared to the old axe fx and axe fx ultra yes, definitely! Same tones but less tweaking. But i wouldn't say axe fx 2 or even 3. Helix yes, with an good Ir.

Think I can tone-capture some of my Eventide H9 sounds with this Mooer? Aww, well...

Get on with the demo already and also quit being so pee shy with the reverb!
