One thing you can expand on is the resin that's too cured to spread, that you put between plastic sheets and cover with something with weight. You can drape it over a bowl or vase (if still malleable enough) to make a free-form bowl or vase. Also, with the idea of pouring leftover resin into a mold, I've done the same with square and pyramid molds, but instead of just stripes, you can also tilt the mold in between pours to create triangles within square molds and squares within pyramid molds 😉
Love this idea about shaping it to a bowl .. I've been meaning to try that. I've used my left over resin to make shapes that I have on my alphabet mold. I then use them to decorate my area when taking pics of my products 😊
I have never seen this type of art but I am hooked; I will be using resin pieces in my art work from now on. I love doing abstract art. People have commented that my work is very unusual and that it makes you think about how to hang it because every time you look at it; it makes you think it can be changed again by just hanging it differently. I will be adding your great ideas for the left over resin as well. You have inspired me to even redo the shine on my dining room table which is 36 years old. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much for checking us out! If you have any questions along the way be sure to have a look at our website www.artresin.com or email us at support@artresin.com
Great tips. Also for silicone mold making there are leftovers with that. One you tube guy cuts up old molds and uses scraps by cutting them up to reduce the amount of fresh silicone he uses in new molds . He places them in such a away as to not affect the mold result .
I love left over resin. I keep a large selection of small molds I use as inclutions. I have a huge bowl of little things to use in shakers or whatever. Also I save spills or little bits and toss that into colored resin as fillers that won't be seen.. This is a great video!
AWESOME IDEAS!! I AM SO NEW.. I MAKE WREATHS.. LOL BUT FOR THE LOVE OF MAKING MY OWN SIGNS WITHOUT ALL THE MACHINERY AND SO FORTH.. I'VE FOUND MY LOVE FOR RESIN! SO MANY THANKS FOR THIS KNOWLEDGE FOR MY FUTURE MISTAKES OR HAPPY CRAFTING OF THE OTHER THINGS! LOL :)
Love these ideas. I use UV resin in small measuring cups. Love using the cups that have shapes like hearts, round, etc. I just cure the leftover, add whatever decoration and create a brand new piece of jewelry. Thank you so much for sharing
WOW!! What great information! Thank you do much. I appreciate Art Resin for all the learning opportunities you provide. And I love your products too! Thanks, again. Yvonne
I'm still new to all this n I've only done 1 really nice piece. But all the lil scraps n dried bits I've been putting n a bowl with a lid. I always need a lid I spill everything 🤦♀️
HI Joanne, I would just like to say thank you for posting & demoing a really lovely & very very helpful tutorial all of your demos what ever they are Are always very much appreciated thank you ……… Joanne, Please can you answer a Query for me I have got a Paperweight Which has flowers inside if I done a casting using this Paperweights when I Came to use the casting with resin would the flowers show Through I would just like to Apologise to you if this Query sounds Absolutely ridiculous to you Lin 👍❤️
Hi Linda, Yes you can make paperweights with dried flowers inside. If you want to pour in one pour, you would want a casting resin that is suitable for deep pours. To use ArtResin you can pour in multiple thin layers to build your depth-this helps reduce bubbles.
I have this round ice scraper which broke but i found it easier to use for ice scraping So i brought it finally inside and i was thinking of using my hot glue gun to fix it, now im thinking using leftover resin might even be better 🤔 I liked the idea with the egg poachers to create little bowls Thanks for those nice ideas. I recently made coasters for a colleague and had leftover resin and thought im just pouring it into the middle part of the coaster mould and play around with alcohol ink on that too. It turned out as a very lovely (& very purple) piece & my colleague will be using it in the kitchen to put her spoon on when she does sone tasting during cooking 😊
Howdy!! I've been making charcuterie boards, cutting boards and wall decor and I wanted to coat all my pieces with epoxy. Is your epoxy "food safe" as in, safe for cutting boards and charcuterie boards?
Hi! We are happy to tell you that ArtResin is food safe once cured, so you can safely use your ArtResin charcuterie boards as a serving piece. We do not recommend using ArtResin as a cutting surface as it will be damaged by sharp knives, however it looks beautiful as an embellishment to the handle or edge of your cutting board. For more information, please have a look at our blog: www.artresin.com/blogs/artresin/food-safe-epoxy-a-guide-for-fda-compliant-epoxy?_pos=1&_sid=0ffa50305&_ss=r
I start this hobby but I created some stuff that didnt come out right, so what can I do with those unsuccessful pieces? They are cured and are thick and uneven ?
Hi there - if the resin and hardener have already been mixed, unfortunately, there's no way to store it for use later. The chemical reaction that turns it into a solid begins once the resin and hardener are combined. However, you can always use one of the ideas in the video - keeping small projects or molds on hand for leftover resin, laying it out in thin sheets etc, to use it up.
I want to make the crystals which you featured, but I thought you could only pour artresin to an 8th inch depth? Did you do the crystal in layers, or did you pour it all at once? Thanks !
We recommend layering your pours when pouring into a mold primarily to reduce bubbles and to prevent overheating. In this case we weren't too concerned with bubbles in this small crystal, the warm water bath prior to mixing helped to reduce most bubbles. The casting was small enough that generating too much heat in the chemical reaction was not an issue in this case so we just poured it all at once.
@@Artresin Thank you for your reply. I want to make small crystals, so I will take your lead and pour all at once for the first one, and see how it turns out! 🤔
Tip: even the ugliest, wonky shaped, or otherwise unsuitable leftover cured resin can be used: when pouring a large resin piece that is opaque, use those cured pieces as filler/space saving so you need less of your new pour resin! 💕😊
HI Joanne, I was watch your tutorials you done 5 days ago loved the tutorial. I was just wondering if you got my message I really hope so if you can possibly help me in any way I would really be so grateful thanks Lin ❤️👍

This page is beautiful. You have solved so many of my problems and assisted for future projects. Thank you so much, please don't stop
Thank you so much
I like the Crystal idea .
Oh and you are such a lifesaver for my resin project flaws!! You have certainly restored my faith in this stuff!!!
I pour the extra into some little cups I found on wish, to make drawer pulls. Just drill a hole and glue in a small bolt.
thats a very neat idea!!

I put drips and small pieces in ring and bangle molds. They make interesting and beautiful pieces.
Thats a great idea, I am sure the colours and patterns end up being really beautiful !

I bought bookmarker molds and use those for leftover resin
Great idea! Keep those small molds always handy so you can pour in your leftover odds and ends-sometimes they end up so beautiful :)

Great idea! ArtResin makes a super strong glue! You just need to factor in time for it to fully cure :)
Love love this! Thanks

Can you use the silicone molds one can get at the store-
Yes you can use high quality silicone molds made for casting.

Thank you that was very helpful…
One additional idea : you can use it to make letters
Love that idea!
Where do I find these panels??
You can order online or at your local art supply store.
What if you are using resin for rocks?
Hi Klair, are you asking if you can use leftover resin on rocks, or what to do with leftover resin from your rocks?
I used half of what the resin calculator said, and still had quite a bit left.
Use mask or respirator when sanding or sawing.
Absolutely! We wear a dust mask when sanding to prevent inhaling dust and debris.
