- The Lume Pad 2 features incredible hardware and in the right conditions, a stunning 3D experience. Yet it struggles to find a compelling purpose.

Good, balanced review. I got to play with one of these over the weekend and was very impressed. The choice of close-set cameras isn't unique to this device and is actually ideal for snapshots and portraits where one is fairly close to one's subject. I found the depth in my photos satisfying-- even in shots taken of large spaces-- but it would take more experimentation to determine whether the tablet is generating increased 'coverage' artificially.
I did load in some of my existing 3D photos, which displayed perfectly. And then for fun I loaded 2D versions of those same shots, applied the tablet's conversion function, and compared them with my originals. Images containing human figures and conventional architecture came out virtually indistinguishable from the real thing, while the process struggled with elements like smoke, foliage, and overhead wires.
I was only really disappointed with what appeared to be a slow refresh rate on video playback, at least in 3D mode. It is also, as you noted, something of a struggle to transfer usable content to and from the device, assuming one doesn't intend to use it for everything all the time.
Thanks for posting. I think this is the first non-paid promotion review I have seen.

How does this display system compare to Looking Glass Factory Portrait??
I hate that I was never rich enough to properly enjoy 3d before 3d wasn't a thing again I hope when tech gets better in this field that it makes a resurgence again and tvs will have proper glasses free 3d that any video media will automatically give a true 3d experience
Great review, Thanks! Is there a minimum iewing distance?
About 30cm in my experience
Is it possible to run a ps5 on it using remote play?
Can you connect earbuds via Bluetooth on the Lume pad 2?
Yup, just like all other Android devices with Bluetooth.
It has a very good DAC I used some electrostatic headphones with the Lume Pad 2 sounded great to my old ears.
WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR WATERMELON PAD?
AliExpress - "fruit pillow", like s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_DdBhtlX (though that wasnt the exact seller I bought from, can't find it in my history now)
I actually find watching RUclips videos quite amazing. Not sure why you thought it was just so-so.
Because he wears glasses 🤓
Qoocam has a combo with this tablet, which has brought me here. I see the Lume Pad 2 Leia is now $649 deal. Would be good alternative way to show Qoocam ego 3d photos to family members who don't want/use headsets. This video has made me cautious to even jump in at $649.
It's a lot of money for a novelty, and I say that as someone who used to own a 3D camera. For most people, the "3d-ness" doesn't add anything, and they'd be happy looking at photos on your phone.
Moonlight3D will be able to stream to this device wirelessly in a year
The Java-based modelling software that hasn't been updated since 2013? Or am I looking at the wrong software?
Moonlight3D can stream wirelessly to the device RIGHT NOW.
Plays videos in "ISO" format? True 3D is a RIP of the original bluray in ISO format.
This encourages me to make a nazi zombies like game for it in unreal 5 now👀
