This is absolutely lovely. You can't fake chemistry with dogs - they read people and feel their instincts and heart and respond, no fakery. And I have had and volunteered for rescue dogs all my life. (Also recall an interview where the journalist had to remark about a random dog at a restaurant that went to him twice, despite being a stranger, for cuddles. Says it all, really.)
