Well done on technique! Your piece did well for you! The bone chisel was quite a quantum leap ahead , but a great adaptation of resources! " You have come far Pilgrim", some to go yet, but, you... Will get there! Of that I am positive! See ya on the trail! ATB from sunny Wintergarden,Florida😎!
I had a lot of fun with this one. I wanted to stay true to my area and use the tools at hand. There are a lot of hardstone artifacts around these parts and it's nice to see how they would have worked. I am really pleased to see this axe cut so well and have used it quite a bit since this video. So glad you could stop by and watch! Keep enjoying that Florida sun shine!..lol....Ben
Thanks a lot, Nick! That means a lot. It's always nice to throw the skins on and get out in those woods!..More vids to come soon! Have fun and thanks again brother!....Ben
@@TheTribeOfBenjamin I am currently working on a flint knife with antler hafting, but alongside this i am of coarse constantly trying to improve my friction fire and flintknapping skills. Right now I'm going into my fourth year of practicing primitive living and your channel is SO HELPFUL. I'm so excited to see what you upload next!!
Music makes this feel like trumpet of the last days has been blown, shit is about to go down and you are joining frontlines of armageddon with that celt.
Hi. Just wanted to say I'm extremely excited to see you back making content. Your videos gave me something to look forward to during a very difficult point in my life and inspiration to get outside and be creative! I still love to rewatch your videos and I got so hyped when I saw this on my feed! Great job and great editing by the way!
I am incredibly humbled and moved by your kind comment..wow...For me this channel has always been able a certain feeling I get when I am out in the woods trying these things. I am so happy to hear that you enjoy the adventure with me and share in your own. I am curious, what are some of your "primitive" or bushcrafting interests? What are some of the projects you have worked on or are currently working on? I would love to hear from you. Take care and thanks so much for writing. I plan on getting on here more often. Call it a new year resolution...Ben
@@TheTribeOfBenjamin when I was a teenager I was just developing an interest in primitive skills, before I even knew that term. I had just learned about some indigenous ancestry in my family and I was just experimenting banging rocks together on the beach lol. I somehow found your video about making a stone tomahawk and I thought that was the dopest thing ever so I ordered a bunch of chert and obsidian online ( I live in eastern ontario canada so all the chert is a good distance south from me.) I then got into flintknapping and started messing around in the woods making spears and such. Years later I just recently had the access to hides and I made my first buckskin out of goathide. I actually handed it in as a project in one of my courses last November and got an A plus haha.
Yes, the Tribe is back!! It’s been a while but you gave us a killer with this one, Ben! What an impressive show of skill. Pretty crazy how you chiseled out that hole. Really loved seeing it come together from start to finish like that. If you ever come across a random cantaloupe in the woods, I bet that thing would really smash the heck out of it, haha! Gotta say, the music, the camera work, the editing, it all made for one heck of a video, buddy. Man if I knew you were just waiting for me to tell you to make a video, I would’ve said something sooner, haha! Seriously though, great job Ben. It’s good seeing you back on here. Keep em coming. Oh, and it’s good to know the “white Indian” still roams the woods of Pennsylvania 😉
Yes, Dale, you asked so nicely I couldn't resist..lol... It's been too long since a vid but believe me the "white Indain" as you say...lol... still terrorizes these parts and scares his neighbors..I am pretty sure they have nightmares about him...I have to laugh every time I come out of the woods carrying an arm full of deer parts and a big club dressed like a mountain man thing...you should see some of the heads turn as a car passes by...good stuff...Yes, this axe works great and I have used it a bunch since this vid. Glad you could stop by to watch my latest, Dale. Have fun out there and see you on the next on!......Ben
Appreciate it Brother! Thanks for the motivation! It's nice to get out there and walk those woods! Have fun and let me know about any of your upcoming projects!....Ben
Ben! You are back! I am so glad to see this video from you, it has made my day! Great job as always, you did an amazing job creating this celt! Now that you have the technique I want to offer you a challenge, make a Lamoka beveled adze, I find a lot of these in my area of Western New York State . If you need me to send one to you for an example, let me know! Good to see you back my friend, I think of you often!
Thanks Paleoman, nice to hear from you. I hope your staying busy with you primitive antics in your neck of the woods! I like your idea. I've been telling myself I need a new adze for a while now. I use my ironwood adze handle as a mallet all the time. I should really grab me a nice piece of hardstone and get to grinding. I watching a video of yours where you talking about the difference between a celt and an adze. I believe you showed that unique beveled pattern on those Lamokas. If I am not mistaken I remember 5 different beveled faces on top of the adze. I will stop over and have a look at some of those nice finds of yours. Always great hearing from you Paleoman! I need to get up North sometime for one of those Letchworth knap-ins. Have fun my fiend!....Ben
@@TheTribeOfBenjamin One detail that the adze has different than a celt is the adze has a slightly curved bit. Adzes were often used as gouges depending on the curvature of the bit. Those Lamoka beveled adzes are really designed well and shows me that the people that created them were far from primitive. I hope to see you at Letchworth one of these days, it would be awesome!
I appreciate that my friend! It's good to be getting back into the swing of things! Have fun out there and thanks for watching..Always good hearing from ya......Ben

About time Ben. Lol! I got a long term project/ new direction for my channel that would be right up your alley. Very similar to what you are already doing but camping and hunting the paleolithic way. I'll add dogs into the mix later on. Right now, I'm just working on the gear and clothing.
This sounds exciting! I wish you the best and hope to see some of that handy work!..Shoot..This stuff is too fun..and dogs just make it better...lol...Have fun out there, Man!......Ben

Excellent craftsmanship! I wanted to point something out here, that might sound odd. I've been looking at videos of chimpanzees doing things, and noticed their hands they really look like worn out, like yours, and they also have their nails very long. I wonder, does long nails feel awkward or like they reduce your dexterity?
Awesome video. Thanks for posting
Thanks, Shawn. Nice to hear from you! Always enjoy your work!....Ben
