They went on to make a sequel The Man From Snowy River II with the same cast lest Kirk Douglas who was replaced by Brian Dennehy. Another Aussie made western/movie that can be highly recommended is Quigley Down Under starring Tom Selleck (Magnum P.I. and Blue Bloods) and Allan Rickman (Die Hard).
