I literally cried multiple times while watching this film. Jess’s story is so powerful and beautiful, and she’s such a fighter. An inspiration to anyone from any walk of life.
Got the chills many times throughout this film. So much respect and appreciation for your vulnerability and sharing your story Jess. Thank you Ben for weaving this story perfectly together.
I cried a few times during this film and have already watched it twice. Jess's story is filled with such raw bravery and vulnerability. Jess and this film encapsulates the incredibly heartbreaking, joyous, whirlwind of the human experience. Oh, and she rips so fucking hard, damn.
Who knew a snowboarder documentary could have me literally sobbing? Amazing stuff, on top of her being a womens' trailblazer it means more that words can express to me to see mental illness visibility like this especially by a professional athlete in outdoor sports, where I think there can be a bit of a taboo... Grief, too is an intractable terrain of its own. I'm just.... wow, wow, wow. Truly mind-blown by this
Like many others, I was brought to tears multiple times watching this (some of it had to do with it showing beautiful footage of my home region). As an athlete and a surfer, the struggles she experienced doing a male-dominated sport resonated big time, as well as the drive to push herself beyond what most people would. Jess, you're an inspiration and proof that anything is possible if you set your mind to it! (I'm pretty sure I've never met a surfer who was initially afraid of putting their face in the water!! LOL).
you don't need to be a snowboarder to FEEL every single one of Jess' emotions in this film. what a magnificent and brave, beautiful story. Thank you, Jess, for sharing this piece of yourself with the world.
My Friend is from Lumby BC right in the same area that Jess is from. She snowboards and started a women’s snowboard community called Nothing in the Pantry and she even looks a lot like Jess. Jess undoubtedly is her biggest inspiration and with that she has done so much for women’s snowboarding and I think it’s beautiful how much Jess has done for snowboarding and shaping it to this day
Such a Strong Powerful Inspiring young woman. Jess Kimura, You are the true meaning of Life, Willpower, Determination, Inspiration, and a true gift from the heavens above! A true Angel in disguise! At age 56 this goes down as truly the best inspirational documentary short I have ever watched! Well done by the whole film crew. This deserves high recognition and honors!
My heart was in my throat this whole film. I feel your spirit Jess through and through. Thank you for reminding me to love myself and not forget how precious 💞 it is to have a husband who my world would be empty without. Your such a beautiful ❤️ soul siSTAR. DNT let the BULLSHIT weigh you down.
I'm 13:00 in and I'm so emotional I've already almost cried 3x. I don't do snow sports but (I wish I did) I climb and I'm also afraid of the water and this is hitting me in my SOUL rn. The drive to be seen as equal, the drive to prove yourself to yourself. I don't have words. Brilliant.
Don't think I've ever cried and felt so much watching a snowboard film. As someone whose been to the dark and back, thank you for sharing and being an absolute badass in and out of the industry. Cheers you badass!
Amazing , inspiring and heartfelt. We need to give this a platform at the National Snow Show in the UK. I run it and would love to do something to help bring up the next generation of female snowboarders . Such a great film well done
Really cool, though I didn't expect anything less from The North Face. It's amazing how many awesome people there are out there - props to Jess Kimura for rocking. Very inspiring.
oh my god jess, ive always looked up to you as a female snowboarder from vernon too. i am in tears. this is the most incredible movie ive seen in a really long time. so raw and you are such an incredible human way past just snowboarding. thank you for this.
I'm so excited this is available. I cry every time I watch the trailer so I know I'll be a mess after this. Jess just seems so human (in all the ways that make that connection a beautiful thing).
Wow what an amazing film. I love north face content but I think this one takes the cake. Such a unique and inspiring person and story. The world needs more of this stuff and less of that fake shit!
I've been in the outdoor world for a while now and you truly make me feel represented. Thank you for showing us that it's not easy and yeah, no matter what we all have good days and bad days, what matters is how you choose to think. GIRL POWER THROUGH THE ROOF. Thank you for being unapologetically you.
This so spoke to me. I’m not an athlete but have struggled with depression, loss, injuries, & grief and you so spoke to me Jess! Thank you and keep up all you’re doing because you ARE making a difference!
OMG, this woman is so raw and so beautiful! She is such an amazing life force! Just stunning! One of the most inspiring movies I've seen. Thank you!!! Go badass!
these words, these emotions, i feel them deeply. i have never cried, laughed, gotten chills and been like "go get em girl" all at the same time. incredible. incredible. what a life.
Wow….Mother Ocean for the win and always heals! 🙏🏾 SO powerful and beautiful especially since watching from a place where I don’t see the Sun currently where I’m at in my life now. I know it’s somewhere out there thanks for reminding me! Pills and booze and darkness all too familiar with spiraling down a dark hole close to death been there too. Inspiring on many levels multiple times so thank you. Between this and watching 14 peaks and the Alpinist recently many amazing humans with even more amazing souls roaming this planet keeping me hopeful. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
This is so honest and "true", Jess is an extremely brave and strong person... such an inspiration. Hope you'll always find the best swells and pow-pow wherever you go, Jess!
What a gorgeous film. Bawled my eyes out like a baby at a few parts. Thank you Jess for giving us girls a badass to look up to. Thank you for your vulnerability and your heart. Beautiful story and beautiful film.
Lost someone massive in my life last year, couldn't say goodbye and consequently feel under a dark cloud. Thank you for sharing your story Jess, truly empowering.
So rad! I’m so happy my daughter will grow up not only knowing anything is possible but seeing herself represented no matter what she wants to do. Thanks for making this!
what an emotional/mental/physical roller coaster of stoke , pain, and passion. thank you for sharing this story and north face for properly telling it. i can’t share this video enough times.
The authenticity and realness of Jess is incredible. This is THE most inspiring and relatable film I've ever seen. Thank you thank you thank you. You've changed the game for the better
Wow thank you Jess for being so open with your story. This is going to help so many people. most importantly I’m so glad that your life path has gifted you with so many insights through determination, love, grief, community… wow. Very inspiring. Keep shining. You are so badass wow wow wow wow wow
Absolutely stellar, Jess. A true work of passion and spirit. I couldn’t wait for this to come out, and it gave all I’d hoped for and them some. ❤️ You’re beautiful.
what a wonderful thing to have started my day. I didn't know Jess til now, you are an inspiration, thank you for sharing that journey with all the love, pain and lessons along the way.
Really beautiful film! Had me pretty emotional with the genuine connection I felt when Jess talked about her depression, and anxiety about putting her face under water since I have the same irrational fear.
Wow. The power and the pain. The vulnerability and the steely grit. Just an extraordinary film. Cheers to Jess. And here’s hoping this gets in front of the eyes of every young girl who feels uninvited, whatever her dreams may be.
Beautifully made and so powerful. Something that I needed to see today. Jess, thank you for being courageous and vulnerable enough to share your story 🌟❤️🌟
Fuck yea Jess!!!!! Keep pushing, keep inspiring, and keep ripping snow and waves. I’d rather watch a rider funded film over a major sponsor production any day. Women’s snowboarding is so strong, and I love that you are giving back to it. ❤️
Amazing! Congrats JK! I felt like all emotions at the same time. I laughed, cried, excited. Thank you Jess for you did everything for snowboarding! Living legend.
the movement out of the head into the heart gut and body is almost always a healthy direction. We can't think our way into a new way of living but we can live our way into a new way of thinking. Experiential living is losing to the 'safety' of virtuality and it is smothering the young adult spirit. Thanks for showing us the human spirit fully alive in all the ups and downs of Life, Jess.
Wow!!! Thank you Jess for sharing your story!!! I wished I had someone like you to go ride with and share the passion with. But in the early 90's in Switzerland there weren't really any Girls snowboarding, or I didn't got in Contact with them, because of Internet and Cellphones not really existing back then and I'm also an total Introvert. Thanks a lot what you have done and fighted for the Girls in Snowboarding and taking in all that suffering and pain from your Insuries. I'm really sorry for your loss and happy to hear that you found a way to overcome that dark place and continue to see the sun again after the dark cloud goes away. You are a very strong woman and I wish you all the best!!! Much Love and Greetings from Switzerland Franziska Stolz
Thank you for being so brave and so vulnerable, Jess - and thank you to The North Face for supporting documentary film.

Between this and 14 Peaks and the Alpinist definitely top 3 all amazing in their own beautifully powerful ways totally agree.
