    I cried a few times during this film and have already watched it twice. Jess's story is filled with such raw bravery and vulnerability. Jess and this film encapsulates the incredibly heartbreaking, joyous, whirlwind of the human experience. Oh, and she rips so fucking hard, damn.

    Who knew a snowboarder documentary could have me literally sobbing? Amazing stuff, on top of her being a womens' trailblazer it means more that words can express to me to see mental illness visibility like this especially by a professional athlete in outdoor sports, where I think there can be a bit of a taboo... Grief, too is an intractable terrain of its own. I'm just.... wow, wow, wow. Truly mind-blown by this

  • @dawnpier1
    @dawnpier1 Год назад +1

    Like many others, I was brought to tears multiple times watching this (some of it had to do with it showing beautiful footage of my home region). As an athlete and a surfer, the struggles she experienced doing a male-dominated sport resonated big time, as well as the drive to push herself beyond what most people would. Jess, you're an inspiration and proof that anything is possible if you set your mind to it! (I'm pretty sure I've never met a surfer who was initially afraid of putting their face in the water!! LOL).

    My Friend is from Lumby BC right in the same area that Jess is from. She snowboards and started a women’s snowboard community called Nothing in the Pantry and she even looks a lot like Jess. Jess undoubtedly is her biggest inspiration and with that she has done so much for women’s snowboarding and I think it’s beautiful how much Jess has done for snowboarding and shaping it to this day

    I'm 13:00 in and I'm so emotional I've already almost cried 3x. I don't do snow sports but (I wish I did) I climb and I'm also afraid of the water and this is hitting me in my SOUL rn. The drive to be seen as equal, the drive to prove yourself to yourself. I don't have words. Brilliant.

    the movement out of the head into the heart gut and body is almost always a healthy direction. We can't think our way into a new way of living but we can live our way into a new way of thinking. Experiential living is losing to the 'safety' of virtuality and it is smothering the young adult spirit. Thanks for showing us the human spirit fully alive in all the ups and downs of Life, Jess.
