That is part of the vet's job. It is expected as his professionnal responsibilities. Scott enjoys his profession, does it well and loves all those creatures.
They made the call to put her under the knife at only 7 hours...i sure hope there was more reasoning then that. First stage of labor in dogs is anywhere from 12 to 24 hours, 7 hours is nothing. If it was stage 2 labor then thats different but this whole situation sucked.
Average size for a miniature poodle is 5, and I think Bonnie is a miniature mix, not a toy poodle mix (average litter size 3). My Sheltie of years ago came from a litter of 8, a lot for that breed. But my 45-pound retriever mix came from an (unintended, and first) litter of 11. Larger breeds have larger litters. Never heard first litters are smaller. Is the bitch more likely to absorb fetuses in a first litter?
@@heathenwolf4997 It does make sense in evolutionary terms, what you say; that would be the *why* smaller first litters would be selected for. I was trying to figure out the mechanism of it, the *how* of it.
i dont know why they waited until she was overdue to find out how many puppies she was going to have and not even knowing for sure. its easily visible far earlier and if she had delivered naturally, on time and at home how the hell would she (a first time dog grandma) would know that bonnie got all of them out or if she was simply too exhausted to push anymore. I know that people think that a dog will enjoy being a parent and all that but its really selfish to breed a dog like this (not a breeder, breed that is a purebred or breeding out bad genes like in pugs, and not even knowing or particularly caring where the puppies will go, i know dr. scott would be a wonderful choice but the way she offered just seemed like she would be offering them to everyone.)
@Francine MirandaHaving 3 or 6 puppies does make a difference, the more puppies the less oxygen and space for each puppy. Generally when a medical professional reccomends a service or theraphy they weigh the risks & benefits, so while radiation does carry risks the benefits out weigh the risks in this case. Also how could you possibly be so certain C-Section was nessacry? We saw the out come of a video so if you didn't see this video you would of known? If an X-Ray had been done Dr Scott might of given the Oxytocin earlier if he had actually known there were more than 3 - 4 puppies.
Our Granddaughter’s boyfriend needed someone to rescue his nine month old miniature Doxie. The young man’s mother had a recurrence of breast cancer and wasn’t expecting to live long. He was only 18y and knew it would be very hard to find somewhere to live after his mom died. So my husband and I took the nine month old puppy and thought she was a Black and Tan. Actually she had double dapple in her and both eyes were constructed with problems. One has no optic nerve and the other has sight issues including little irises floating in the eyeball. It’s been expensive. The young man would have no way to care for the medical problems created by breeders that irresponsibly put her mother and father together. Lesson learned if I were to buy for a particular breed I’d find an AKC breeder. My granddaughter is on her way to becoming a Vet Tech or nurse and her ethics about animals is awesome. I notice it is very common in her friends and others in her generation. I’m so glad that such incredible young people will soon be in charge.
As a nurse...I have the incredible privilege of assisting in birth. It is always very special and just awe-inspiring! Sometimes no words...just tears for our patients. Either way I love my job and I have a respect for Bondi vet because they do so much for all of these animals!
While I think it's been a long enough and I've got enough evidence now thank you so much I'm going to updating another lawyer for area of the pandemic it's just too bad just kind of be a lot of people going down for this one have fun with my dog I'm going to have fun suing
To me one of the big mistakes made by the owners was not having the x-ray done. Dr. Scott was basically going in blind when he did the C-section because they did not want to risk their dog. Amount of radiation exposure would’ve been very little and for just a moment so there was really no danger. But him having a incomplete ultrasound really did not help matters. I don’t blame Dr. Scott but the owners
@@GriffinWulf I know!!! All I could think was if someone had crowded me, and been all over me like that while I was in labor, I would have bit someone 🙃 even as a human mom.
@JJK If Bonnie was given a X-Ray earlier the Dr. would have suggest a c section from the beginning because Bonnie was overdue, she was not dilating, she was not having contractions and she is too small to have six pups on her own. Not to mention her owner irresponsibleness of the reason to have pups. Because of her owner there was a dangerous level of unpreparedness. You really need to read the comments.
Okay, I have stopped at the 9:23 mark because I am shocked that these owners were not prepared to have these pups. No berthing area for the mom, the dad was holding his dog when in labour, kids mauling the dog. GRRR!! Let the dog do it's own thing, yes watch but give it space in a nice comfy quiet corner. You can use RUclips for help in what to do if your a new breeder or ask for help. Now to finish the video.
Yeah, it bothered me, too, especially seeing a mother of 3 kids have no clue. I understand confusion over it being a dog, but it's not much different from a human. You don't need the whole family in the birthing room.
This chick isn't a breeder. She's an over-populater. I doubt these dogs are even registered purebreds...and there are thousands of mutts just like these murdered in shelters every day...she's just contributing to the bloodshed...
Aww! The sound of the first puppy's cry choked me up. I'm a retired pediatrician. We don't attend every birth, only in certain situations, but even after 20 years I felt emotional witnessing every birth.
Bonnie’s teeny whimpers were heart-rending. What a brave, sweet girl! I was rooting for the C section myself; it was clear the vet really wanted to get it done. Fantastic result, but I’m predicting that no one will have the nerves for any more puppies!
I love how he always greets his patients. Dr. Scott has an absolutely wonderful bedside manner! And I find it interesting that SOME of of the same drugs are used. Poor mama. My memories of pitocin are NOT fond ones.
Ahhhh pitocin. 40 years ago, and the only thing good about it was that I got a beautiful, perfect baby girl. I felt like I was being run over and mangled by a train.
@@sandyfreyman3501 because when we have high risk pregnancies or complications we take longer to consider an additional pregnancy. There's a lot of dogs in our world already needing a home. People ad well. She had her dog get pregnant because she was grieving the death of someone. Don't you know how many puppies get euthanized everyday ? That's why we are hoping it's a one time decision for her only.
@@sandyfreyman3501 Dogs and people are different. They don’t have the competence to consider the risks of pregnancy, we can. There’s no reason to put that much stress and pain on a poor dog
Don't know about you, but to me, there didn't appear to be any emotion from her about the puppies and mum's health!!! Maybe she was just overwhelmed by it all, but it certainly did upset me.
Just bc someone is grieving the death of a loved one is no excuse at all to contribute to the deaths of thousands of innocents in shelters every day. Go adopt one instead. You'd get the same level of comfort and more, knowing you saved a life.
I adopted my current dog (I love him dearly) but my next dog will be bought by a responsible breeder that I know (registered and working along side the AKC in the show ring) As my rescue had costed me an arm and leg in rehabilitation and medical expenses. I want a dog that is healthy and I can raise.
@@x_nekomew_x I always say that, adoption is not for everybody. I follow a RUclipsr name Rachel and her channel is called Senza tempo Cane Corso and she has been a breeder for almost 5-6 years with corso and she already has grand Champions in her lines. She is very responsible and kind and I’m actually her moderator. Good breeders are good people.
I'm Sha...bless your little nasty heart! Just bc you adopt doesn't mean they're all old. I suppose you're the kind that would get rid of your dog just bc they got old. Shame on you. You don't seem to be a very nice person. There are huge advantages to an older pet. You're going to get old someday, too, if you last that long. I hope your younger relatives show you more grace than you wish for older pets.
This was a nightmare. I bred my dog and I spent months preparing before her heat, watching all the birthing videos possible and reading every possible literature. I even made sure I had veterinarian tools on hand to assist in labour and multiple vets on speed dial. The fact that this lady did no preparation is maddening
Preparing and feeling prepared are 2 different things, she clearly prepared (she had the pen, blankets checkups etc). but she didn't feel prepared, I watched a video on delivering a baby once doesn't mean I'm mentally prepared to do it.
The way she was so cavalier to the neighbour lady about "Oh can your dog come over?" Like it's some cute little game. No! There is no need to contribute to pet overpopulation just because you had a "crazy idea." I'd expect that logic from a six-year-old. C-sections on animals are much more risky than on humans, because the animal has to be put under and the anaesthesia affects the babies as well. That's why it took so long to get all the puppies breathing. I was certain at least one wasn't going to make it - they were very lucky. And that lady, after casually breeding her dog, didn't even bother to do an internet search for what to do with a dog in labor? "I don't know if I'm supposed to be there with scissors" and the poor dog's already overdue. The radiation from one x-ray is completely negligible, and the vet probably would have started the C-section earlier if he knew how many puppies were in there. Would have saved the poor mama dog suffering and prevented so much potentially deadly stress on the puppies. I hope these people learned their lesson! Spay and neuter your pets!
It's so selfish, They only put her through breeding (not to mention is extremely scary to have some random dog get stuck on her which might even hurt) and then have to deal with pregnancy and labor all for their enjoyment, ridiculous and disgusting. this is how shelter dogs happen.
It’s fine to breed your dog as long as you’re ethical and educated about it. However, no backyard breeders have the ability to do that because they don’t do genetic testing, temperment testing, and stimulating environments. And most importantly they don’t have good doggy parents
@@Ilove_drpepper yeah exactly, people who breed their dogs with good genetics and health are perfectly okay, they usually find good owners and take the dog back if it doesn’t work out. That’s a good breeder to me but people like them breed dogs to breed them. It’s dangerous and selfish
It so sad to see how irresponsible owners can be, oh “having puppies will be nice” yet she had no idea what to do and thought it would be a great idea. Those poor puppies in shelters getting killed cause of over population. I understand puppies are cute but that’s not enough to put them through this.
Yep. It was all knee jerk 'puppies are cute'. No thought to 5 seconds Googling 'caring for dogs in labour'. I'm surprised Scott doesn't give out info leaflets tbh . My vet gives out puppy care leaflets & info on local rescues & local puppy training .
Remember guys, dogs are easily humanized. That's why we have people cloning dead pets. Is she wrong? No! Irresponsibe? No! It's her time and energy. She is probably the most sensible pet owner!
The attitude in the UK is very different about neutering/spaying pets vs in the U.S. The mortality/complication rates under anesthesia for small animals there are much higher than in the U.S.-- you really are deciding if you are willing to risk losing your pet completely just to sterilize it. I still would but it makes me more sympathetic to them not doing so as just a standard thing the way it is here.
@@catstreat9434 I've had cats for years & volunteer at a rescue in the UK. Spaying is a routine & standard op & responsible owners do it automatically & rescues spay & neuter before releasing animals . I've never known a small dog or cat die from spaying It also decreases the risk of mammary tumours in females . The only 'risky' anaesthesia is v v tiny pets like lizards & birds or or, v v frail, elderly pet's.
Honestly, if someone had given me a puppy after my husband died, and I had to go through all this kind of extra fear and stress about their health, on top of all the training the puppy needs, I would have moved to the moon and never spoken to them again. Don't do this to people or to dogs.
Dr Scott is so kind. Someone should have reamed this brainless lady over forcing sweet Bonnie to have 6 puppies all because her elderly father died. How selfish! Not a good example for her two little girls. 🤔
I have a hard time with people presenting a loved one with a puppy after they've just gone through such a challenge with death in their life. Puppies are quite challenging, despite the red bow upon your presentation to these people going through a lot of withdrawal due to death in their close by family! I feel it's inappropriate, perhaps well-intended but nonetheless.
Some people are so fearful of their lonely future after the death of a partner. Some of them would welcome the distraction of a new puppy that needs their attention. It works for some. Keeps them having some mammal to come home to.
How does she not know anything about delivering/assisting in the care of newborn puppies if she chose to breed her dog? How can she not do research????
Exactly and how they were all holding her while she was in labour was ignorant and infuriating. Anyome whos given birth dog or human can see how horrible that was. She should have been set down in a designated area away from over stimulation. With 1 person tending to her, while other family members simply quietly observe. Annoying inconsiderate dog owner...
Sadly, this is why we have so many issues with genetics/health. Because some people just get this idea "oh my dog is the best thing ever! Lets breed it!" This is right there with back yard breeders because precautions ethical breeders take are ignored and unknown of to these people. It's either a price tag or emotional breeding that ends with dogs who are genetically prone to diseases are bred and then people who don't research the breeder purchase their dog and continue this disastrous cycle. I see it mostly with small dogs or doodles/poodles. I see in some breed groups on facebook at least once a day someone wanting to breed a dog that is not breed standard and looks to have eye issues (like toy poodles having bulgy eyes which is not healthy or breed standard) or shih tzu with horrible under/over bites and while they should have a slite under bite, the poorly bred ones have some so bad their teeth are always showing which cause dental problems.
The more I watch the BondiVet series, the more I am stunned about all of the dogs and cats giving birth both in the UK and Australia. Here in Canada It's practically law everywhere to have your pets spayed or neutered. Of course that is not true in all cases, but you cannot go to any shelter and adopt a pet without it having been de-sexed. Usually they have been micro-chipped as well. Buying from "breeders" is highly discouraged. The other thing we do here is catch and release feral cats. The cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, the ear tip is clipped and they are released back to their colonies. The cats live their lives outdoors but cannot ever breed again thus keeping the feral populations down.
we have similar laws in germany. at least with cats you have to get them spayed/neutered unless you are a registered breeder and being such also has alot of restrictions.
I wish i could have have gotten my dog neutered but he had liver disese and was fear aggressive of vets so he had to be sedated every 4 months for check ups to see if what we were doing to get it under control were working and they didnt want to keep him sedated any longer then it took them to do all the tests they needed as the more times a dog is sedated the risker it gets and they couldnt risk keeping him under for more then 30 mins each time
They really are extremely clueless as to what you do for any dog in this situation, so sad ... And so needless with all the dogs in shelters waiting for a good home!
Yeah I done but it. Not everyone is built for a shelter dog (not including myself, I have rescues) - but not everyone can afford a rescue. Time wise or medically
I don’t understand this response. They planned this it’s not like they ket her out to wander. I don’t think all people should be shamed into cleaning up all the other dog mistakes of everyone else
@@lindanorris2455 I mean...to be fair, accidents happen. PSA: (so y'all don't come after me) This is only in reference to comment about human children. Bonnie was clearly bred on purpose by an irresponsible owner.
She has a dog that is overdue and she is clueless about the labor. Lady you should have started reading before the dog was even pregnant!!! I can't even watch such episodes these kind of people make me sick.
To be fair dogs have been giving birth long before humans domesticated them. Its not hard for one to assume that animals would just know what to do and let it all happen naturally, especially when you consider the number of wild dogs birthing litters without owners and help. But of course, as a dog owner there is a duty of care and responsibility to uphold.
Animals are not only an incredibly valuable part of any individual ecosystem, but an invaluable part of families. I sincerely appreciate what all of you and every veterinarian does; much love from the states. ❤
I'm glad that mom & babies survived & are doing well. However, I do believe that having the mom dog become pregnant to get over the death of a loved one is selfish & putting your pet's life & the life of her unborn babies in danger is just down right cruel & heartless. And, those puppies should only be adopted after they have been weaned from mom.
I know as soon as I heard it was overdue, I was internally screaming at them to do a C-section. That dog looked too small in general, plus she could die trying to pass 6 babies, let alone if they're huge. Oh my god poor dog.
I'm surprised they didn't even have a nest for Bonnie... The owner can easily research on how to prep for a birth. Too much noise and attention is not a good thing for a dog who's giving birth. I'm also shocked that she didn't just go to the shelter where there is a huge selection of puppies and dogs who need wonderful homes. I'm glad Dr. Scott is there to help this poor dog though. Could have been a lot worse. Please neuter/spay your pets.
Indeed: why breed dogs when so many dogs are killed in the UK for lack of families? Adopting a dog on death row would have cheered the family up just as much. Backyard breeders should not be given as models: they don't have a clue about what they're doing and each puppy born takes the place of a dog that got killed in a shelter. They are probably also after the money they'll get from selling the puppies: they could not even spend some to make sure their poor pregnant dog was cared for properly. X rays at the end of pregnancy are not dangerous, on the contrary they save lives. Ultrasounds can be done earlier in the pregnancy without any risk.
To be fair dogs have been giving birth long before humans domesticated them. Its not hard for one to assume that animals would just know what to do and let it all happen naturally, especially when you consider the number of wild dogs birthing litters without owners or any help.
Ugh that bothered me too. I don't think she should be breeding if she has no idea what to do. I mean Google and RUclips do exist so it's not like she couldn't research up on it. But to be that close to delivery and still be clueless is ridiculous. They should've just adopted a puppy instead of intentionally breeding.
Good breeders care about their puppies even after they leave their home. A reputable breeder will encourage you to stay in contact with him or her and offer advice throughout the puppy's lifetime, including health, grooming, training, nutrition, and behavior. Aka leave it to the professionals.

Poor dog. This was such a greedy move from the owners. Eurgh. Plus, I bet this dog could have given birth on her own if the owners were prepared. She needed a birthing area and calm, not being held and caressed by everyone... Infuriating !

I totally understand how Sheila felt. Mt dog who was not as big as Bonnie was pregnant and the vet told me 6 puppies. I kept taking my poor dog to the vet because I was so anxious. He was happy I was taking such good care of her. On the last appt I commented that the visit was for me wasn't it and he smiled at me and told me yes. 3 days later she had 9 puppies. I called the vet and he was astounded. We laughed. He did the 3 day visit on a day his practice was closed. He called his vet students in because he said he had not had puppies in his office in a long time and his students need to know how to document and examine newborns. 5 stayed in the family, 1 went to a friend and the last 3 had so many applications they had a hard time shooting who to place them with. I waited until they were 12 weeks before they went to their new homes. The vet was extremely pleased I kept them for that long. No more puppies for me unless I help with a rescue group because they need fosters for an overload of puppies. What an experience. So happy for Bonnie's and her puppies.
If you did not try to breed her, this would not have happened. Why do people think that when they love their pet so much that their babies will be copies of them. It does not work that way, like with people.
Most dogs want their primary companion/caretaker with them during and after labor and some will even hold out until they're with them. My sweet girls (soon to be retired and spayed) actually get extremely upset if I leave their immediate proximity during labor and one insists on having her paw touching me the entire time (which of course I oblige)
My dog had puppies 2 days ago. (Complete surprise, my boyfriend was told by the foster for the small rescue that all of the medical work was done. He even asked if she was fixed) I woke up to her in my face panting and shaking, trying to wake me up. A puppy was already partially out. She didn't want me to leave her side.
34 seconds in and I'm already annoyed that she bred her dog without knowing anything about the birthing process. Imagine being pregnant with multiple babies and having the doctors and nurses just shrug their shoulders at you like "We have no idea what we're doing".
My dad died myself they might just want a way out of the grief. Don’t judge them just because they haven’t done it before doesn’t mean they don’t know anything about dogs having birth anyway.
@@cousinjeramytv1789 It's pretty clear they are unexperienced and because of that, they are putting their dog at risk. Putting an animal at risk shouldn't be a "grief therapy exercise", it would have been safer and more responsible to get another dog instead of breeding them. PS: Though I fail to see how it is specifically relevant to this video. I am extremely sorry to hear you lost your father. No one should have to go through the grief of losing a close family member. (hugs)
I find this very upsetting. How is it this dog's responsibility to get a family through the grieving of loss a family member? If Bonnie had passed I would have been disgusted with these people. What would the vet have said if they had run this by him first.
Someone I know plans on breeding their dog because she's 'too hyper' and they somehow think it'll calm her down. The stupid reasons non-breeders breed their dogs will never fail to amaze me
It's the business model, but I sure wish vets would stop encouraging "just because" breeding. I wish they'd strongly encourage every pet to be neutered ASAP. Very few breeds of cat or dog actually need to be bred. This dog's pain was unnecessary, and somewhere, dogs or pups will be euthanized simply because these pups took up homes that would have been available to rescues.
What a simplistic solutions you suggested. Amazing to think such a hardline black and white idea of pet owning. What dogs/cats should be preserved may I ask ? Or should no one own any pets after current ones die ? I know so many abandoned animals are suffering this very moment and there's hardly anything we can do to help all of them. But are you doing actual physical deed to assist in helping them survive or find new families etc. ? You're not just saying bc you're emotional ?

“Forced it pregnant” is unfair to say. I don’t like when people don’t spay/neuter their dogs, but she didn’t *force* the dogs to mate, she just brought them together and they worked it out themselves. You make it sound like she r*ped the dog or something

right?! so sad that it's all about the cuteee puppies and no care given to the impact of bringing these puppies into the world... from potential diseases that could have been easily prevented through screening that could lead to new owners having their beloved new pets die prematurely, to all the dogs in shelters that die because people keep bringing new puppies into the world, to the unnecessary stress and risk they placed on their dog, to the amount of resources taken to produce a positive outcome (I'm sure Dr Scott and his vet nursing staff had other things to do)...I could go on but it's making me too fkin angry 🤬

This makes me angry. People who have no clue putting a poor animal through unnecessary pain and torture for what....for their own selfish reasons . This was an accident though, she wanted it to happen, so yeah do it if you don’t want puppies also if you live in a terrible area of over population with dogs constantly being put down.

They made the call to put her under the knife at only 7 hours...i sure hope there was more reasoning then that. First stage of labor in dogs is anywhere from 12 to 24 hours, 7 hours is nothing. If it was stage 2 labor then thats different but this whole situation sucked.

Bonnie is such a supermom. 6 babies! That's a lot for a first time mum. Good work by the team getting them all through safely.
For a small dog, too. Usually small dogs have a small litter.

i dont know why they waited until she was overdue to find out how many puppies she was going to have and not even knowing for sure. its easily visible far earlier and if she had delivered naturally, on time and at home how the hell would she (a first time dog grandma) would know that bonnie got all of them out or if she was simply too exhausted to push anymore.
She also refused the X-Ray which would of most definitely gave an accurate result.
Owner made the offer to Doc because she had a bunch of puppies that she wanted to get rid of as soon as the cuteness wore off.

I agree and I think he would've made the decision about the C-section earlier if he had known exactly what he was dealing with

I've never known a small dog or cat die from spaying
It also decreases the risk of mammary tumours in females .
Absolutely. After my partner died I was in shock for a long time. No waaaaay could I have taken care of a puppy. It's cruel for the person and pup.

Exactly 💯. I am a bad person for commenting earlier, basically saying what you did.
I was thinking the same thing!! Like REALLY!! I do hope her kids are there to see the babys birth.
Good thing she did contact him
Exactly and how they were all holding her while she was in labour was ignorant and infuriating.
Dr Scott you are so dedicated to your patients 😍
TNR. Trap, fix and release
we have similar laws in germany. at least with cats you have to get them spayed/neutered unless you are a registered breeder and being such also has alot of restrictions.
Very sensible. I don’t think we have laws like that where I live. Probably should though.

@@trina808 I bet your Bassett is /was beautiful. I like Bassetts. I had a dog when I was a kid whose mom was a Bassett, and the dad was a Dachshund. Both AKC. He was the only boy puppy, and was neutered when old enough. Sam was a great dog. (Jan Griffiths).
Wow I’m so impressed by how many puppies that Bonnie had. Bonnies a small dog herself and to see 6 little wiggling puppies shortly after their birth was amazing!!🥰🥰💗🐶💗
What are you on?
@@amymiller4508 What do you mean?
Bonnie, not Betty
@@Sabouma28 Fixed, thx.
Hope mommy and babies are doing well. It's a miracle. Good girl mama, you're awesome.
The look on Sofie's Face. "Did I just kill my Dog for something I could have done by going to the pound?"
Sophie
ikr😑
No... That's not in her face at all... She's pretty clueless.
these puppies are adorable and are getting awesome homes with their vet and friend
OH, LET'S BREED ONE LOVELY DOG TO ANOTHER LOVELY AND MAKE PUPPIES THAT WE HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT ANYTHING. HOW ABOUT A BRAIN!
I wish that the vets on this show would educate people about what makes a dog breeding quality and to try persuade people not to breed their sub par pets... Backyard breeding at it's finest here... and it's so sad.
At least her husband said about the pups mum !
Right! This was heartbreaking and made me angry also.
C’mon, be nice. At least she was willing to learn, and had concerns
Haven't you heard? There's a puppy shortage right now. They're just trying to help out.
This has to be the best vet I've ever seen, I'm so glad you starting coming up in my feed! All vets should be like you guys! 😭
Thanks to all that care of the 6 puppies God-bless all of you
If you did not try to breed her, this would not have happened. Why do people think that when they love their pet so much that their babies will be copies of them. It does not work that way, like with people.
😐
Right! There was no need to breed that poor dog. So many dogs needing adoption. Poor Bonnie being put through that.
Animals often won’t give birth until they are alone .
We have always been by our fur babies when they give birth.
They give birth while u are there as well my breeder was with her mother dog when she delivered all her baby’s
Do you have a mayor an it had a foal
My dog had puppies 2 days ago. (Complete surprise, my boyfriend was told by the foster for the small rescue that all of the medical work was done. He even asked if she was fixed)
I woke up to her in my face panting and shaking, trying to wake me up.
(hugs)
Congratulations Bonnie on 6 beautiful pups. And congratulations to the fur grandparents
I find this very upsetting. How is it this dog's responsibility to get a family through the grieving of loss
a family member? If Bonnie had passed I would have been disgusted with these people. What would the vet have said if they had run this by him first.
Wonderful dogs - but I hope that they don't breed her again -aside from other reasons this process was brutal on the dog.
I lost it laughing at 12:58 when Dr. Chris groans "oh god..." when the client asks "do we just keep doing it?"
Scott, not Chris
What an incredibly wonderful vet. He is so kind, and super professionally skilled.
His wife is a living doll-beautiful and sweet.too.
Wish we had vets that cared enough to make house calls in the USA!
We do, you're just going to have to sell your firstborn child to pay for the bill. It sucks.
They do
A camera crew as well.
My vets is here often, have to pay for a farm call.
The people and Bondi are some of the best vets!! They love their patients
I know so many abandoned animals are suffering this very moment and there's hardly
anything we can do to help all of them. But are you doing actual physical deed to assist in helping them survive or find new families etc. ?
You're not just saying bc you're emotional ?
@@mikiohirata9627 have no idea what your trying to communicate.
@@sherilynn1310 That is sad. I hope there will be improvements wherever this happens. Here in Munich I think we are OK but in other cities and villages here in Germany or in other European countries there is less money and I guess less money for animals, too. I support Takis shelter. It's soothing to watch his oasis for animals and it gives me hope that there are many people chipping in.
YES!! Glad you said this!
@@maximilianemustermann815 I think you're terrific. Thanks for helping a shelter. The problem is much bigger than individuals, but the more people become aware of the other side of breeding, I am sure they'll make better choices, and some day maybe every puppy or kitten will easily find a home because there won't be too many.
What a wonderful story of the dog having her babies of six. So happy they all survived and the mother dog is OK too. Much ❤ to you all...
That was amazing how Scott did the C-Section on that beautiful little dog and those 6 puppies were born. They are absolutely gorgeous and I’m so jealous of you guys.
Dr. Scott is so awesome! I love his shows!
I cried like mad when 1st puppy made that sweet cry.
It makes me disgusted like everyone else. My husband died and it would've been irresponsible for me to say, "Hey kids, I know that we're all grieving your dad's passing, but hey! Why don't we get a dog or a bunch of puppies?" Gosh! SMH!
I'm very sorry for your loss.
Betty has her own special doggy family to bring her comfort. That is really beautiful. What a wonderful gift for all of them.
The dog's name is Bonnie
Breeding isn't all fun and games. She's hoping there's 'lots of little ones in there' to pay her vet bill.
Thank you Scott. Bonnie and 5 wee puppies like Emm said it's a privilege. Koodos for all of you for such a brilliant job. God bless you all

What a wonderful video!! The puppies are so adorable!! Scott is such a caring vet!
It was weird I was panicked, then I just knew they'd live. And I balled tears of joy. Beautiful 🐩🐩🐩🐩🐩🐩
That was absolutely awesome! I’m so glad the puppies made it and the mommy Bonnie has been a good mother
I love how she's sad because she's seeing her dog nearly lose her life but she's the one who forced it pregnant bc she was sad 💀
“Forced it pregnant” is unfair to say. I don’t like when people don’t spay/neuter their dogs, but she didn’t *force* the dogs to mate, she just brought them together and they worked it out themselves. You make it sound like she r*ped the dog or something
@@mar-k7104who said anything about r*pe though?
The first comment is right, she forced Bonnie to be pregnant by wilfully and knowingly putting her into that situation and wanting that outcome. The dog doesn’t get a say in the matter the last I checked.
Having a female dog myself, it breaks my heart to even think about unnecessarily risking her life and putting her through such pain and trauma to make myself feel better.
Gee, that poor lady though, she was SOOO WORRIED.
@@emluvslou “force” is still not the right word. You know that old saying “you can take a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink?” You can bring two intact dogs together, but you can’t make them mate. Unless she literally forced the two dogs on top of one another manually, the situation wasn’t forced, she just made it so it was possible and hoped it would happen *naturally*
Again, I disagree with her allowing it to happen, I think people should get their dogs spayed/neutered, but framing it as anything but natural is ingenue. And yes, “forced to get pregnant” implies “forcibly mated” and forced s*x is r*pe
Fur-grands of 6, Sophie & Tom must be shocked. Bonnie really shouldn't have to go through this again. One pregnancy is more than enough for a mum. 6 puppies at once - WOW, & she is such a small dog. Love the "coffee stained ones."
Praying they got her fixed after having such a large litter. Poor mama. Glad they all pulled through, all seven including mom.
Why the hateful comments? "Stop breeding your dog. They'll all and up in shelters". Seriously?? You can literally see the love in this family. And this is her first litter, she's not BREEDING her dog constantly like bad people do. And y'all talking about her reason for getting her mated, dogs are number one at therapy and bringing joy. YES puppies and other pets need to be adopted from shelters, but your guilt tripping and blaming the lives of all those pets on this lady for her dog being a mommy. Y'all are so rude and have no thought process. You don't think things through before you post. Ugh why can't everyone have a heart of compassion for every situation.
What an irresponsable dog owner, getting puppies without any knowledge?! Not knowing ANYTHING about what to do, no health checks before mating, no checkups and not even reading up on whelping. Poor dog and poor puppies.
right?! so sad that it's all about the cuteee puppies and no care given to the impact of bringing these puppies into the world... from potential diseases that could have been easily prevented through screening that could lead to new owners having their beloved new pets die prematurely, to all the dogs in shelters that die because people keep bringing new puppies into the world, to the unnecessary stress and risk they placed on their dog, to the amount of resources taken to produce a positive outcome (I'm sure Dr Scott and his vet nursing staff had other things to do)...I could go on but it's making me too fkin angry 🤬
Geez - some of these Bondi Vet videos just brings tears to my eyes. I am so impressed with the quality of the presentations. Thank You from the USA
I'm a CVT and Bonnie and Sebastian need to be neutered and spayed. X-ray isn't going to hurt the pups. Where is the whelping box and the quiet area for her to labor. I have attended many births and the lack of preparation is horrible. This whole video has made me angry. Shelters are overwhelmed. Adopt not shop.
Everyone act like these puppies were their own children’s, that’s so wonderful, I’m crying at school bathroom
This makes me angry. People who have no clue putting a poor animal through unnecessary pain and torture for what....for their own selfish reasons . Not knowing anything about pregnancy , nothing about the animals needs during prep for birthing and labor , disgusting I would have made this a teaching moment to these people and made it clear that this was unnecessary.
She had no idea what she was doing
Good breeders care about their puppies even after they leave their home. A reputable breeder will encourage you to stay in contact with him or her and offer advice throughout the puppy's lifetime, including health, grooming, training, nutrition, and behavior.
They should know everything pertinent before even breeding the dogs...but keep in mind this show is for drama and viewership.
Too many people think of animals as mobile toys.
im crying whilst seeing these puppies squeaking.... oh god this is so emotional..
Hello from USA Michigan those puppies were adorable.
Wow. This one made me cry! Dr. Scott is so calming and reassuring. The fact that he goes to his patient's homes amazes me! What a fabulous doctor. And it was nice to finally see the episode where Scully was born. I am totally a spay and neuter fan, but in this case, it resulted in Scully, soooooo.... 🥰
Right? I'd love to move to the UK just to have him be the veterinarian for my cat. House call instead of stressing kitty out by putting her in the pet carrier she hates so much. But sadly, that's just a nice dream.
Just spay and neuter your animals so this will not happen! Poor baby!
This was an accident though, she wanted it to happen, so yeah do it if you don’t want puppies also if you live in a terrible area of over population with dogs constantly being put down.
It's not up to you or me to say whether the dog should be spayed or not it is up to ther owner
What a scary situation!! So happy for this wonderful outcome!!
I JUST LOVE THIS SHOW! Thank you for sharing the lovely birth with the world! Congratulations to the entire family - human and canine! :-)
This episode stressed me TF out, but the PUPPERS are sooooooo adorable.
Well Done, Bonnie!
I’ve been through so many dog and cat pregnancies and it is amazing I’ve learnt how to revive them if anything goes wrong to make sure they get all of their calcium is up especially mums and it’s just an amazing experience to help these little animals start their new life
By..you
Have whelped many times, but every time is different, scary, hectic and so rewarding
‘Selfish’ and ‘ignorant’ are the words that come to mind.
They don’t face their grief over losing her father.
They deliberately put their dog (vet and staff, family) through unnecessary stress and pain for their own selfishness.
That is one way to view it . Rather unkind I would say , also rather arrogant .
That's exactly what I was thinking a very "human" thing to do poor dog she didn't ask to become a mother... it's all for their selfish gain smh
Lovely final. I always dreamed of been a Vet doctor and I love how this doctor managed the birth of those beautiful babies.
