To convert 5 pin to 4 is possible but what if I want to convert 5 pit into 2x 4 pin dmx cable. Would I still be able to control two lights using only one output? Of course I would not be able to control these two light independently but was wondering if splitting 5 pin DMX into 2X 4pin dmx would work?
Question... ??? Why does the 5 Pin have that metal indentation curving inwards on the 5 Pin Male? I've been looking for an adapter and the ones I see, don't have a groove to accept that, but those interface boxes do... What the appropriate adapter to make it a 3 Pin XLR to go into a mixer... I'm working with a Mic...

Hello, as long as the pinouts for 5 pin DMX and 3 Pin DMX matches, you should be good. Remember, DMX pinout: Pin 1 = Ground Pin 2 = DMX - Pin 3 = DMX + Pin 4 = NC Pin 5 = NC
I think pin 2 is positive every time

Could you please give some examples of what pin 4 & 5 could be used for? Would it be possible to be used to power another small fixture?
The additional pins are often left unused in most DMX set ups, Some brands carry proprietary controls and signals. Voltage as well.
