- Bringing alcohol on an airplane is not as simple as you might think. There are some TSA rules and FAA regulations that you definitely need to know about.
In this video, I break down everything you need to know about bringing alcohol on a plane and answer questions like whether or not it is illegal to drink your own alcohol. I also discuss how to handle bringing in alcohol bottles from duty free shops.

I asked the flight attendant on Etihad Airways to serve me my own rum i brought on board and she pushed me out the plane in mid air. Totally uncalled for, some people are sooo sensitive
Haha. Seems a little excessive.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same thing happened to my buddy Eric, he always travels with a helmet though so he’s good
Wow. I don't drink much, but this was one of the most INTERESTING travel videos EVER!!
I did not expect to learn this much about alcohol and flying today. Info that may come in handy at some point though. Thanks!
Thanks, yeah there's a lot to consider!
Is Don Julio 1942 at the legal for tsa?
All these rules, I'd just rather wait until I get off the damn plane to drink.
@Michael Rader feelsbadman
What is my liability if a bottle of alcohol breaks in my checked bag? Will the airline charge me some crazy cleaning fee?
If you want to bring mini liquor bottles can I put in a separate quart size bag or it has to go in the same bag as my liquid ?
This was great info.. I was always curious about how many mini bottles I could brings
Thanks -- glad you found it helpful!
No limit as long as you can comfortably place them in the 1 Quart (32 ounce) clear plastic bag.
@@zarrsar6372 is this info for carry-on? Or for checked luggage?
If you have more than 20 shot bottles or more than 3 of the big bottles they will throw u out window mid air if u get caught
How many bottles can we put in the check in luggage for internation flights?
@UponArriving I'm flying for my first time. Ironically to Texas lol. How have these laws changed in 2021? And thank you for all your info.
How much can i check to go to grand cayman
I am not sure do you answer me or not , I would like to know can i carry 3 40% whiskey bottles in my check in luggage from dc to Bangladesh?
I would also like to know the limit for check in luggage for international flights.
Can I bring the small bottles of wine? I know their a little bigger than the liquor nip, please help.
If its not 100 ml they will ask u to empty it untill is at 100 ml wine
Ok so how would they know what the the alcohol content is ; for example I want to fill 5 3.4oz containers with 40% vodka , how do I prove it’s not over 70%
I don't think they could know without taking time to confiscate your bottles which would be unlikely. Maybe they could give them a smell and then investigate if it has a really strong scent that could be over 70%.
don't drink it unless you know the alcoholic content. Real drinkers know that. You would not drink any fluid unless you know what it is, correct? almost all commercial bottles state the content on the bottle. Besides the rule is there for a reason, if you pack a fluid without knowing its flammability you are putting yourself and others in danger.
@@zarrsar6372 that's not what the OP asked. The question was, how would they (the TSA) know the alcohol content. The OP would know and the TSA could ask him but the TSA shouldn't take everyone at their word at what the content is. If they did, then what would be the point in having the rule anyway. Therefore, the TSA must have some other independent way of determining alcohol content.
@@zarrsar6372 they mean you could put moonshine in 3oz containers and pretend its vodka lol. Not that they're drinking mystery drinks.
Basically I gotta be sober 🙄 lmao
can you get jail time for bringing 190 proof vodka? since its flameable i would asume its not legal?
I don't know about getting in trouble with the law but you could definitely get a big fine.
I normally fit 8 shooters in a quart bag lol
It would probably be a bad idea to mix a drink in a water bottle or thermos while still in the terminal and consume it while on the flight. For instance, if I had the airport coffee shop fill my yeti, then I add a some Bailey's while no one is looking, then enjoy my flavored coffee on the flight it would probably be wrong on some level to do that. Also, buying a bottle of soda and stealthily adding rum, bourbon, vodka, or schnapps before getting on the plane would be equally wrong. I wouldn't advocate doing any of this.
😆😈
Lol are you kidding me?
@@cesarcueto1995 I'm very serious that doing those things I suggested are probably a bad idea at a certain level, but this is not legal or travel advice. Just a thought exercise.
Done it many time 😄
What if I just want to bring alcohol, not in a carry on, from like Albania to the USA?
Albania isn’t real sadly
@@LemurJackson bro I can confirm it is
So I brought two little bottles on the plane assuming I could just drink it... well I didn’t think I was doing anything wrong like a idiot and the flight attendant looked at me and said she could report me and I could be banned from flying for a year : / it was truly my fault fr not reading the rules but it was so embarrassing like everyone around me was just staring at me lol
That sucks but you are definitely not the first person that that has happened to -- You live and you learn!
What if you are not 21 and want to simply bring a 1.5 L bottle in your checked bag. Unopened of course. Will they take it or make you throw it out? From Pa to Colorado
Nah bro your good if it’s a checked bag they ain’t gonna Id you idk bout size tbh but if it’s packed well you should be good
They will take it and inspect it when they go on there lunch break to see if if it's real alcohol
Daum so we have to take weak alchol.? Smirnoffs lol
Is it true that minors can transport alcohol? I read that in a trave booklet but I find it doubtful. Could a 19 year old carry alcohol in a checked bag? A 16 year old?
Are you dumb? A sixteen yearold cant Carry liqour
they can because when they scan the bag they dont know the age of the person who owns it because they are not present
Tristan Standingready ur wrong
Well I was 18 when I brought 2 bottles of tequila into the us from Mexico they didn’t say anything at the airport
@@5aulx497 i’m so late to this comment. but can’t the airport see what’s in the luggage if it’s scanned or something? i’m 18, currently in Mexico and i wanna take bottles back to the US🙃
you cannot drink the alcohol you bring in on board. (unless a nice flight attendant agrees to serve you your own drink, which is legal) Trying to sneak in a swallow can land you a $11,000 fine.
Just drink it in the bathroom then 🧐
Seriously?
just buy a drink in the airport and pour the liqour in the drink and take it with you on the plane
Will they check IDs if they see you taking alcohol
Na. lol you good
You are bad ass, please tell me
This isn’t always true if u go to a duty free ship u can get alcohol and bring it
6 airplane shots
I like your name…
Lie about the size of container the main focus is liquid .
The majority of your subscribers probably do not need to bring alcohol because they are going to drink at the lounge (either priority lounge or centurion lounge) for FREE + tips.
Probably true but still got to get the word out! 😉
@@UponArriving If they don't have a premium card, at least get United Explorer plus card ($95 annual fee) gets 2 United Club passes or get the JetBlue card (no annual fee) or plus card ($99 annual fee) to get 50% off inflight purchases.
If you don’t know the alcoholic content or what serving sizes they offer them in you have no right to indulge in them in this atmosphere in the first place.
most alcoholic beverages are lower than 50%.
You absolutely cannot bring fruit on planes internationally
