Stanley Boardman (born 7 December 1937) is an English comedian.
Boardman ran a haulage firm before winning a holiday camp talent contest and breaking into television on Opportunity Knocks and The Comedians.
Fellow comedian Peter Kay wrote about him in his second autobiography "Saturday Night Peter"; in it, he describes his early days on the comedy circuit and being on the bill with Stan who at the time had the nickname Stan "The German Fokker" Boardman.
Boardman became known for his anti-German jokes, with his claim that "the Germans bombed our chippy" during the Second World War

Millions of us were offended but we were disabled mentely ill had learning difficulties were black coluored or were vulnerable women who were abused and raped or we were irish living in england and tortured imprisoned for life for bombings we had nothing to do with we were all offended but lacked the power to protect ourselves the teachers at my school used to laugh at intelectual dissabilities thank god for pc my own kids live in a better safer world

I haven't laughed like this for ages. Brings back good memories. Stan was a very good comedian, always guaranteed a laugh.
As mentioned in a previous comment he was one of those comedians who you could Laugh at without him saying anything. His looks /expressions just made you laugh. A great talent👍 Glad you enjoyed it.

What a great comedian Stan Boardman was, I suppose it's a cliche now but, what happened to comedy, I have said the same thing about music. I am so glad I grew up in the times I did. This modern world is not so good. Thanks Stan, I hope your keeping well. I have just laughed my head off at this and it's not the first time I have watched it lol.
Stan was brilliant. I haven't seen him since 1980's in a restaurant in Blackpool. He is missed.

Naturally funny man is Stan. Love him. If you know the history of his brother and what happened during the war you will understand his humour.

Stan Boardman is absolutely brilliant That gag about the goat and the cast iron bath, I just about ended myself. Compare that with BBCs live at the apollo omg it is dreadful.

"Alternative" odd expression, all I know is today's comedians like Peter Kay fill the O2 six nights a week. Old school comedians could hardly fill the local social club.

I was in a German comedy club recently, you couldn't get moved for germans telling jokes with a Stan Boardman theme
We should be able to laugh at each other and ourselves. Geeermens, the French, the Brits, the Indians or whoever without being "offended" because it's only a joke. If we can't laugh in life we really have a dull world to live in where everyone walks around in doom gloom.
Liverpool Comedians have been doing exactly what you have just said for decades!
Its just a shame everyone else outside of Liverpool have just realized its just our Humour!
If you get the chance watch the documentary about Stans early life in Liverpool during WW2 with his old pal Ricky "Hobbo" Tomlinson , had my wife in tears including myself!
@@Theoriginalbigbrillo I agree, however the current climate has made everyone into misery guts, everyone gets offended by the slightest hint of racism, nationalism or whatever ism. I've learned that in order to survive in this world you have to be flexible, bendy, pliable so that we don't snap easily. Laughter is the best medicine and what better time than today do we need the Stan Boardman's of this world? I'm a non white. Liverpudlians have a great sense of humour, Lennon was one as is Paul O'Grady. Maybe because they come from humble backgrounds that they make light of tragedy or just suffering. "We may not have much but we still have our dignity and sense of humour" approach to life.

@Green Lizard Unfortunately, I may be wrong, but most comedians come from humble beginnings and they've seen things in childhood that they were not ready to see. This affects them and they seem to convert a negative into a positive by making others like me, laugh. As I stated, I could well be totally wrong in my assumption. Anyhow, I for one , is mighty glad to have the likes of Stan Boardman, Les Dawson, Tommy Cooper.... they had me in stitches when I was a kid growing up in humble circumstances. They took the pain away from me and made me forget about my circumstances.
There are millions of funny jokes that are not at the expense of others ...why go down that route ? Oh yeah for people like you

Stans a mate from Marbella Spain...great bloke...he once set fire to a palm tree at Silks by the sea!!! ha ha..i was the resident singer.. happy days, Mike Reed, Brian Conley, Dennis Taylor so so many celebs used to go there..it was the last real proper place..then it became Nikki Beach a bloody disaster!!! 2 years i was there and every popular celeb came on sundays to my shows, joining in the fun, Stan lives there and last time we met was about 4 years back..
i grew up in the late 60's and 70's,proper comedians where nothing was sacred,all fair game for a piss take.happier simple times
