Thanks Colin, I studied martial arts in China in the eighties and classical Chinese at university, but I have a bad pronunciation of tones, my Master kindly tells me that I speak Chinese as he speaks French. And he speaks French very badly 🤣
@@DanteBasili I studied chinese as a second language but was unmotivated ... and the last test I passed was an exam in grade 4 ... in the late 70s. It's a source of embarassment given I'm ethnically chinese. I think my Italian pronunciation is far better than my chinese. Hahhaha.
Don't overlook the talent in your area. Ask for a Shifu and a Shifu will appear. Be open to the possibility that your Master is waiting on you. Catch up.
Great example of whole-body linkage! you are one of the very best at showing the practical applications of the Classical forms! Yet, another Great Video, Master Basili!
Always use your whole body even when executing seemingly a minor technique. Thus, using your whole body fulfills the highest law in physics, " energy cannot be created nor destroyed but energy can only be transformed or transferred." In Internal Martial Arts, you don't fight with brute force but with efficiency.
"It don't mean a thing, if you don't subscribe to me..." I hope you keep that in forever lol! Nice technique, very similar to the beginning of Chen 56.

Dear Shifu Dante, do you recommend that learning mantis alone is sufficient? Or is it necessary to learn Bagua , Xingyi Liu He, as well? What are the benefits as all and all for application they become quite similar in the end? Appreciate of your wisdom sharing.
As a personal study, for health or self defense, it is perfectly fine to practice only one style throughout your life. As a passion or professional studio you can practice multiple styles, just as different musical genres can be studied on the piano. Finally, in the Chinese school, the essential concepts are common to many styles, so with the thorough practice of a single style you can understand many of them. 🙏🏽
It’s a huge mistake. It all comes from shaolin animal play which itself was taken from other sources. The real animal Kung fu isn’t an imitation of their movements at all. You aren’t a monkey, you don’t have their natures attributes. You have human attributes and the ancient fist is a human one. Finding your natural fist is the highest form of Kung fu. Feel free to do it but when at last you are ready you will see that the best you is based upon your original nature, natural . My apology to Paulie zinc and Hastings albo. But it was obvious that trickery and strange movements are not the way to quan fa.
Ah! merci Seigneur De la souplesse, de la classe, dés mouvements parfait pour un résultat propre et soigné On ne détruit pas l’adversaire mais on le bloque délicatement prouvant que la force est une faiblesse et la technique une puissance souple !

I cannot agree with such an inaccurate interpretation of the form. you demonstrate a technique similar to mawashi-uke in karate-kata - turning over the opponent who grabbed his hands. Today I will try to make a video about variations of this technique, including this form.
I do not know this technique so performed in Karate, but there are often common concepts. Here is how we practices in Xinyi Liuhe Quan. I am waiting for your video 🙏🏽

The butterfly palm appears in many system. Wing Chun, Bagua, Hung Kuen/Hung Gar, NgoCho/Wuzu Quan, Bak Mei/PaiMei.. Shows how versatile and effective it is as a technique. In Shotokan Karate, I think I first encounter it frequently (the "Mawashi Uké") in the Kata/form "NijuShiHo"/"NiSeishi", which of course is where the Okinawans took the name 24 from Chinese naming conventions. See it again later on Unsu (older name "Useishi" or 54... All descended from Chinese systems). Other names that follow the pattern such as Suparempei (1808 or 108) 🤔 Thank you Sifu Basili, for allowing me to appreciate the Chinese styles.
