There is a saying: Don't work too much or you won't have time to earn money. Considering the richest percent of the world isn't producing anything of value with their "work" I find there is a hidden truth in this saying. Maybe I should start voting for politicians that give me rich peoples money. Not productive, but with productive efforts you rarely seem to make money.
29 years old, worth around £550k and now happily retired. Got there by working my ass off building my business (started when I was 22), saving nearly everything I earned, and had a decent ish exit too (120k) which topped it up nicely. Wasn’t earning crazy amounts but I was just very frugal. How am I retired with ‘only’ 550k net worth? Invested around 400k into properties which are netting me on average 10% (without taking into account capital appreciation :) ),40k per year is more than enough to live off for me and my family (I’m married with kids - and actually manage to still have about 10k per year left over currently, cost of living in Egypt (where I’m currently living and studying) is prob half compared to uk…). Aswell as about 50k invested into stocks, and about 50k invested into high risk stuff such as crypto and a few startups aswell (invested in startups through cur8 capital). And around 50k in cash. I actually hated running my business, it wasn’t something I enjoyed and it was actually very stressful, but I persevered and worked hard as i knew it would help me to reach my goal of getting to ‘retirement, now i can freely do what I wanted to, which is travel the world, study (my religion primarily, aswell as anything else I please), raise my kids to be the best human beings possible, and a few other things. Will I/would I work again / do another business again? Yh maybe later on in my life, if I find something I’m passionate about, but for now I’m more than happy with what I have and want to pursue my current goals

Hey Mark, I had a question I am about to be 16 in 2 months and have started learning loads about the stock Market do you have any suggestions on where to get started using a custodial brokerage account? Another question I had was is there a specific bank you would recommend like EECU, Bank of America , Wells Fargo, etc

Hey Mark Tilbury, I disagree with with the statement "Early on, don't try to be too diversified" ( 5:38 ). I understand where you are coming from to find that one interest and make risk since we are young. Except at a young age if you diversify, learn the assets you are investing in, you can have a better knowing of which asset class is ready to make you money or grow in the time being, for example let's say I invest in stocks, crypto, and precious metals. 3 assets that are very different to learn from, they are also very easy to get access to at a young age, they grow in the long run. Point is diversification is key to learn and to grow. Later on you have a diversified portfolio, and take more risk since you learned the markets and can afford to lose.

Hi Mark, I just wanted some advice on my current situation. I am currently 24 years old with no job and living at home with my parent. I was made redundant 2 months ago and have been actively looking for work ever since. Although this is a really hard stage in my life where I feel completely useless I have great ambition and want more for myself and the people around me but struggle with ways to go about things physically and mentally. I have spent nearly all of my rainy day funds while looking for work and days seem to just be getting faster and faster as I am doing nothing, it can be get really depressing. Any advice could help and I am open to scolding in the replies if there are any. I am not looking for sympathy but a way to get out of this hole I feel like I am stuck in. Thanks for these videos. I am really inspired! From a new subscriber!!
It might look dire, but you have the greatest asset that money can't buy. That's your youth. Time is on your side. You are allowed to take risks and fail, people expect you to fail, it's part of the journey. You're currently living at home so you should be even more emboldened with the "get rich or die trying" mentality. First you should be exercising at least 5 times a week. Taking care of your body will aid greatly in physical and mental health. Last thing you need is a missed opportunity because you're too sick to grasp it. Second you need to be learning new skills, especially since you stated that you've been made redundant. You need to be exploring your options and finding what are your strengths and where you can apply it. In the meantime, find a temporary job to sustain yourself, but don't get complacent. Use the money to invest in yourself. Books, courses, coaching, appearance, etc. Anything to give an edge over the million other guys like you. Third, you need to be outside expanding your social network, by meeting new people and solidifying bonds you already have. Your home is only for sleeping. You need to maximize the efficacy of your day. You should be exhausted by the end of the day when you come home. There's truth to the saying, "it's not what you know, it's who you know." And lastly stick to it. It's going to take time but maintain the vision of what you want and understand that it is obtainable. Things will get better but it requires an honest and serious effort. Maximize your time. Good luck 👍
Most people with adhd don’t realize it until age 30 or 40. If you’re bouncing around a lot. Try therapy. You can’t help others and make money until you like yourself and can regulate emotions. Good luck 🙏❤️
Crazy how so many people watching a video like this have hundreds of thousands of $ at such young ages🤔 anyone seeing these comments and feeling down that you’re not in/above the average, don’t worry, most of these people are probably lying. Stay in your lane and you’ll get there.
Mark, you've hit the nail on the head! As someone who's navigated the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, I can't stress enough the importance of investing in oneself. It's like you're reading my life's playbook! I remember when I was in my late teens, I was investing in my fitness consultancy skills, and it paid off in the long run. And oh, the student loans! They were a nightmare, but I managed to pay them off by my late 20s. It was a huge relief, I tell you. I also agree with your point about credit cards. They can be a double-edged sword, but if used wisely, they can be a great tool for building credit score. Your advice about investing in the stock market is spot on. I've been investing in stocks and it has indeed been a great way to build wealth over time. And yes, the importance of being financially independent from parents cannot be overstated. It's a crucial step towards financial maturity. Your point about focusing too much on saving and not enough on earning resonates with me. I've seen many people fall into this trap. It's all about striking the right balance. Finally, your advice about planning for an exit if you own a business is something I wish more people knew. It's a crucial part of the entrepreneurial journey that often gets overlooked. Thanks for the insightful video, Mark. It's like a roadmap for financial success. Keep up the great work!
this was great timing, Im 29 and always feel way behind with a net worth around $300,000.I surround myself so many people mid 40's who own there own company's who compare self to. It truly a great motivator to push self and be ahead of the curve but nice have some reassurance doing ok.
I made decent money as an accountant. especially when compared to my background, This year I quit and risking it all to back myself and my own businesses. I barely make enough to cover the bills currently! but there was a burning desire to build my own assets and be my own boss. its hard.. really hard, but I love life again. fingers crossed I can make it work before the savings run dry!

Stock picking doesnt really work not even the big hedgefunds are able to outperform the market, very seldomly you just get lucky by buying the right thing at the right time (worked for me but that was just luck, bought crypto 2020) but thats just like a casino if you ask me... you might look into getting at least some precious metals (cant go wrong with that)
Plan and make your financial retirement in one max 2 years. Start with a good number ($2.5m) to be put in Endowment Fund with Interest 2.5% fd. Focus until you get the sum as fast as possible in a vertical way. Find your niche
Making money as a person living in US was very easy. Went from $50k in student loan at 20s to 5 Million by age 35 working as construction engineer making 220k and wife in same industry making 180k saving 50% and invst in real estate and stocks.
I am a 18 yo about to turn 19 next month, and my net worth is $300, I have no way of earning anything till I am 20, because I am a full-time student... I gotta do better bro...
this is to my future self, check back here in 3 years and see if you hit the milestone at 4:02, if not switch jobs ASAP as you're not making enough money or ramp up your side business and go all in on that
I think these goals are probably decent until the 40s and 50s. Rich at these ages is surely higher than 1.2mm net worth, even if that is wildly above the median. 1.2mm might generate something around 50k a year based on the 4% rule, not peanuts, but certainly not traditionally what you might consider "rich" either.
Mark i just got out of highschool and my parents are giving till the end of summer to get a job. What should i do to be financially free so that i dont get stuck in a 9 to 5 job for the rest of my life? If possible can you make a video about it? Please these are possibly the most crucial months of my life.
Hi, you don’t need till the end of the summer, you only need to the end of the week! Any job is good because when you have a job every employer you look to work for will likely see you as an asset. It’s a bit like getting a girlfriend, once you have one you are seen to be more attractive. Get a job and do as many different ones as you can until you find what you like. Well, by the standards laid out here I'm on the poorer side. I'm only about 30% towards the target for 50+; however, I have free time as a retired vet to start a business. And my income is about $70k net. On the plus side, I do have about 430k in dry powder for investment opportunities. And my costs are low as I rent a room and drive an older car as well.
Yh maybe later on in my life, if I find something I’m passionate about, but for now I’m more than happy with what I have and want to pursue my current goals
may i ask what you did for business? a fellow 22 year old muslim here and I want to live the kind of life you've described (pursuing religious studies and travelling). Also any advice you have for your younger self?

Lovely and incredible video as always. Thanks a lot 🙏

Hi, I can’t recommend a bank as I don’t use any in the USA, I can however recommend Vanguard for index fund investing with a custodial account. Thanks . MT 😎
Thank you for your honest and genuine answers at weston much appreciated
First, thank you for inspiring and changing lives. I want to change but im lazy how do I get into routine?

Thank u for this!

As a 17-year-old, should I invest 50% or as much as possible? I'll live with my mom for now so I don't need to worry about debt and other stuff.
I'm 22 living in midwest US, making $85k from full-time job, putting away $3,000/mo ($500 in savings, $2,000 in brokerage account, $500 in 401K), my current investing returns roughly 20% annually (not sure how long this rate will last haha), have $15,000 in savings and no debt.

Im 25 years old with net worth of $130k. I've been working hard since age 18.
My personality and my childhood poverty helps me focus on this goal. Soon I'll be buying my first property investment with a deposit of %20 :) and second one at age 27.
It gets lonely sometimes. Hopefully it all works out at age of 30. A goal where i can finally travel and try new food, new people yet work in a little amount of time.
yet i get to do all this things but i get richer and richer :D

There's truth to the saying, "it's not what you know, it's who you know."
And lastly stick to it. It's going to take time but maintain the vision of what you want and understand that it is obtainable. Things will get better but it requires an honest and serious effort. Maximize your time.
Good luck 👍
It will get better mate, just keep reminding yourself. Work hard and make good decisions and your life will turnaround

Most people with adhd don’t realize it until age 30 or 40.

I believe it will all work out.

I'm on track but kinda scared about heading in to my 40s.. Quite a big leap

You have plenty of time as long as you’re figuring things out and not wasting your time. MT 😎
If you want to start making more money and not be stuck in 9-5 you have two options, college degree/trade or starting a business.
