Best tactical urbanism video I've ever seen. I iifnd the "temporarily" and "cheaply" parts really important, as in some cities I know really well (cough cough Barcelona cough cough) we've got places that have had tactical urbanism for almost a decade now. Mix that with bad maintenance and...

3:22 My city set up a temporary roundabout like this with concrete barriers on some pretty important intersection about 13 yeras ago I think. The problem is that they forgot to make a proper one since then.
After a long day of work or a long trip outside ur residential area. When u come to home u feel that it is the best place for u at that moment. That defines that humans wherever we go need a place to feel home-like. Hence use of benches and greenery for rest and calm feeling.
When cars are more excluded from cities, that means old people ( I am 76 , my mother 96 ) are kept out as well . We live 35 km from the city center in the suburbs ( Melbourne, Australia) . We can’t walk much , but I can drive. The inner city is getting more unfriendly to cars. Bike lanes with zero bikes on it. Speed limits, just to annoy you . Parking outrageous expensive, or nonexistent. In your video you see young people walking…sitting, enjoying themselves, but no elderly. The reason, the ELDERY CANNOT WALK. They stay home , because cars are excluded from the fun . My 96 year old mother can drive in a car, but can’t climb on a bus. The developments shown in the video are unfriendly for old people….
Well, I'm not very familiar about situation in Australia but what you are talking about seems like urban spawling of a city which is planned in a way that is suitable only for cars. It's a huge problem that you can do nothing without a car. And what I'm talking about it's not excluding a cars in general, it's about creating alternative options of mobility, like cycling of public transportation. And a few more remarks - in countries like Netherlands I saw lots of elderly people cycling so it's not only for young people. If we are talking about disabled people, that really can't walk - in all the countries I know they allowed to park at spacial parking places and it's completely free for them. This kind of pleces must be at every parking and they are the closest to entrance. You don't have it in Australia?
This is really inspiring! There is a patch of grass in my street that could be so much nicer with a few plants and seats
you could try doing something akin to seed bombing the patch, just be sure to only use plants native to your region!

Those are great examples! Love the idea of parklets, they make streets look more vibrant.

I guess it's time to change the city mayor.

Nice to see footages from Ukraine ❤

Seems like you are commenting wrong channel :)
This is a lovely and simple video. Did you take the Reclaiming Streets For People from the Cycling Professor?
Thanks!
No, I didn't
@@cityforall You're welcome.
I wasn't sure because some of your tactical urbanism ideas sound like they came from that course.
My city is dilapidated and beyond repair.. I die a little bit inside when I see European cities
lots of analysis paralysis getting in the way of actually doing something
