Yuzuru Hanyu-rare mistake at 2016 Worlds' warm-up

From the warm-up the day of the final at the 2016 Ice Skating World Championship in Boston. Hanyu comes out wearing a surgical mask, totally muffs his jump, tries it again and puts a hand down, and finally rips the mask off. He did well during his practice after that!
edit Unfortunately Yuzuru fell during the competition at that exact spot and ended up losing the title to Fernandez! So sad!

Yes, Since the 2015 GPF he had been feeling pain in his left foot ( damage in Lisfranc ligament). Injuries always strike at the worst moment possible, unfortunately...

Pretty sure the back of his blade got caught thats all. His feet were probably pointed upwards which causes his back of the foot to go down, thus catching the ice making him fall.

I'm late af but he injured his ankle (left leg) in 2015 (don't really remember the year but somewhere there) and he wasn't fully recovered there. Up to this day he still feels pain in his ankle

It honestly depends on the sport though. I’ve went ice skating recently and despite wearing my mask the whole time, I don’t feel out of breath due to the air conditioning. The cold temperature in the rink also helped dry the mask very quickly even if my sweat wets it. But if it’s other sports like badminton or running which I do in school, it’s a lot more vigorous and since we do it in the hot weather, the mask makes me go out of breath easily and whenever I sweat my mask gets very wet. At least that’s how I feel.

@@yukimori_shirei I thought air conditioning wasn’t allowed anymore due to Covid, but I agree with you, working out in a warm environment makes you sweat, I just wish this covid situation goes away, can’t wait to work out at the gym again without worrying myself about who’s near me and can have the virus😔.
