- Let's change it up from playing hostile civilizations and let's try to grow as the trading desert dwelling Teekan! The mercantilist empire will economically expand and dominate the galaxy...well, hopefully.

Sweet...LOVE some Distant Worlds 2!
Subbed
Keep em coming!!!!
Thanks!
Teekans were one of favorite races to play a while back. Great capturing race. Be friends with everyone for a while. They take quite a bit of time to mature, especially with ion weapons. Good luck.
I feel like every game I play the Teekan economy is insane and they can field massive quantities of ships. Hopefully my experience is the same.
DW2 is a gem
It's a great game with a lot of promise, and gets better every patch.
@@Setharusit does, i dont like the modding capability up to this point and hope they will work on it cause that should drive sales when you can play proper 4x in your favorite franschises, was trying to play with the ship assets, but the tools they used are hard to get even to work :(
I've put so little time in DW2 but from what I've played I agree about the start. The way it makes you realize how BIG the galaxy is by making every step feel like a leap. Going from your home planet to the moon, and then to the next planet in your system. It's such a unique feeling in the space 4x world.
Very excited to see you play this. Any tips for a new comer?
The start is 100% the best part of the game, it's why I love the beginning of every series. Tips...hmmm. Well, I'm not the best player so I can't say the 100% optimal plays but I try to do the following:
Balance your economy and growth. Expanding to planets costs money, and you want to try and stay positive cash flow. Don't colonize planets under +20 in the early game.
Befriend pirates to avoid the raids and loss of money, even though it's expensive, until you can build up a fleet that allows you to disable their ships. Then, start cancelling your tributes and use ion weapons + torpedos (because they bypass shields/armor and can outright disable a ship quickly) and board them. Set your policy to retire more advanced ships - this will help you leapfrog in technology as you capture then break down more advanced pirate ships.
Bully the AI that is smaller than you, if you don't gobble them up to expand someone else will. At the end of the day it is all about expansion of economy to sustain larger fleets.
Use spies generously. I set my policies in the early game to ONLY steal tech and do no other actions. It's one of the few ways you can really rapidly advance in early game techs.
Take advantage of the AI being stupid in the late game. Gravity Wells are completely broken and the AI will commonly get 50% or more of their fleets locked in a gravity well...target systems for war further away to take advantage, then declare peace when they start finally escaping the gravity wells.
Love the game and videos. Keep it up man!
Thanks! Appreciate the support.
"Who doesn't like a nice steak?" Instant sub.
glad your doing the teekans, good to see less played races...played
Yes, I don't know if always playing the warmongering species says something about me, lol. Something more economic, though I am sure it will end in war eventually.
Kind of a Blessed Start.
Never seen this game but I love watching stuff like this.
It's a fun but complex game that gets really challenging closer to the end of the game.
Starting planet got 4500 diameters a fine above averge size.
Second one got 6300 with is huge boost at 27:30

Early Warp Field Experiments 18:40
fixed research tree no reason to not show entire tree, random then hide
I know early on there was some lag with having it all visible, but I think they fixed that several patches ago.
