Bouchards mental lapses should be a concern.I know his offence is hard to replace but his defence is brutal.Bouchards next contract will be around 10 million and I don’t believe he is worthy of that money. The Oil have lost multiple games from his brain farts alone.
The stupidity in these chats is mind boggling. A team that was a goal or two from winning it all, in a very competitive league, is somehow now a mess, with no hope. Skinner not good enough? (2.09 ga in last 15). Bouchard unworthy? (Best offensive defenceman, next to Makar). Perry, Nico and the rest putting up numbers and contributing consistently. All need to go? Morons!
I agree. Skinner just shut out Kings, he's getting rolling. Bouchy has a money shot and can step up into the play when needed. How about the Oilers stop pissing away the first 10-15 minutes of every game? I'm thinking that stops a lot of these conversations. I've been hearing the talk about another D, but yet again, no names. It seems they think there is some magical top-4 just waiting in the wings, but please, somebody, tell me who? Given Emberson's game yesterday, I wonder if we really even need anybody? Team seems solid to me.
How about a decent goalie and defence, it's been the same story for yrs. You can pick up all the forwards you want but you no one to defend and stop pucks yr screwed. It's been a on going story for yrs. The Oilers will never win a cup playing like this. Their chance was last yr good luck getting there again.
They have $240,000 cap space. You can't get a water boy for that. Dollar in and dollar out is the fax. You could trade Bouchard for a 26 yr old Vet stay at home solid D man, and get some picks or prospects along with that. I'd do that before I'd pay him 8-12 mill a year and then try to figure out how I can sign McD next year (unless the cap is going up by at least 15 million next year, and some contracts coming off the books). All that to say, #1 priority should be getting another Ekholm.
Capspace accrues over the season as long as you are not dipping into your LTI pool. Thats why its so important for a team not to be using LTIR until after the deadline. Come the deadline they will 1m in capspace. On top of that they can dip into their 5M they have in LTIR as Kane wont be back until the playoffs. 6M at the deadline is enough to get more than one peice, as usually there is some salary rentention. Enjoy the weekend.
@@rona6063 Hi and thanks for the info. Sounds dependent on Kane not being back until playoffs then. In which case they would be fools to allow him back before then even if he is ready. Ya, 6 would be/should be enough to get a Dman like that if one became available. Do you think they still Sign Bouchard?
@@Ace96x10 Bouchard is having the a bad year on a contract year. It will depend what he asks for, but at the end of the day he is RFA and a point producing DMAN has tons of value so it doesn't really matter. The cap going up the next two years pays for Leon and McDavids new contacts, and there will be some change left over. On top of that, Skinner is off the books and there is 700K savings in the James Neal buyout finished. The Oilers can easily afford to give Bouchard a 4M raise possibly more. The question is should they? Based on this season another 7.5 or 8M 1 year deal would be smart, as it keeps him as a RFA when it's over.
the bigger issue last game was the FWDs. Did not put back pressure on 3rd man in/ high slot shot.

Would love to see if Trotz wanted to shake up the Preds and trade Bouchard for Josi 🙂
Skinner, Mr. Let the first shot in. They will never win a cup with this sieve in the net.
We need Ryan O’Reilly
They need to add more beef if they wanna get far in the playoffs. Theyre way too soft
I don’t take Penguins seriously because yes their Goalie had a good night, 75% of the time their Goalie’s mediocre
They should pick Pulju the next time he gets waived. Third time's the charm and so on.
Jays fan...the best thing for the jays is to leave that province
need a new goalie
John Gibson + Moritz Seider = 2 Stanley Cups @ least.

wtf are you smoking…. The oilers give up the least shots in the league. And skinner by the numbers has been fantastic
@RichardHeckley maybe you need glasses.

Kane on Ltir, ditch Perry, Rico, Ryan , Josh Brown, and Bouchard, bring up Savoie get some toughness and grit and a goal scorer !
