It's a phenomenon called Ground Effect. When a plane gets within a wingspan's distance of the ground, it starts to compress a cushion of air as it descends which allows it to briefly float as it is about to touch down.
Awesome video here. I would like to fly a 777 no matter how long the flight is. DFW airport is a big airport and hope you didn't get lost in the terminal
Delta, American, and United have a few... your best bet is a coast-to-coast flight (JFK-LAX, LAX-ATL, etc.) although I’ve been on a LAX-IAH flight on a Continental 777-200 and an EWR-IAH flight on a 767-300. I’m flying on an American 787-9 DFW-LAX in a couple of months.
We were on the same a/c and just did this leg r/t in June 2018. If I remember correctly, the MIA-DFW continued to CDG and the DFW-MIA continued on to Brazil. Don’t quote me though. Was the first time on the triple 7 and we loved the aircraft. We were in version 2 and had MCE row 17 seats A-B and K-L with the new perks as it was the first week being publicly offered. When i asked for my cocktail the stewardess asked for my credit card and when I replied “no, it’s included now” she seemed shocked. I showed her my email fromAA stating our new benefits and she still refused to honor my request and walked to the next row and my son, who knew his entitlement asked for the same. She turned red, looked back at me and walked away. A nice male crew member came over from FC and asked to talk to me. I told him the story. He too walked away, but then returned with ice, 2 cans of coke, 2 bottles of JD and a bottle of white wine for my wife. He also apologized for the crew embers lack of product knowledge. He served us personally the entire 2-3 hour service. I do love me some AA. Going back to PHX we were stuck on those god awful ex US Airways a321’s in main cabin. 🤢!!!
I find it hard to believe American implemented the new MCE services without letting their employees know, but you're right! I had the same exact problem on one of my flights. It wasn't long after the new policy was implemented, but they flight attendants had no idea MCE now came with free alcholic beverages. I know it is hard to keep a uniform product in a company so large, but that seems like a major oversight. As for the A321's you're right. They old US Airways A321s aren't as nice as the newer, American delivered, A321's. That being said I'd still fly the US Airways A321 over a 737-800. I cannot stand American's 737s. They cram so many people into them now, and the seats are so narrow. If you aren't in first, or MCE the 737-800s are almost unbearable. Thanks for watching my friend! Good chat!

This flight was from Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW)-Miami (MIA). I always list that info in the title and description. That way you don't have to wait however long it takes for me to reply. Thanks for watching my friend!
Well, BC (before corona) it was actually very common to see domestic wide body fights through the US. Both on hub fo hub flights, this this one here, and on high demand routes, like CLT-MCO, LAX-EWR, etc. I imagine once things get back to normal, that will continue. There was a point where American was using 767’s on a flight from MIA-MCO.
I assumed you were referring to the times I list in the video description for the different parts of the flight, but I checked those and they are correct. Were you referring to something else?
At airports this big they don't really get a choice. The FAA starts to move aircraft into lines hundreds of miles out form the airport. Sometimes it's so busy they have to issue flow programs because there are too many planes trying to get it at once. In other words the FAA (i.e. the air traffic control system) determines which runways are going to be used for certain arrivals/departures. They may have been using 8R for departures. Or they may have been using 8R for aircraft arriving from the North. Here's an example for you. DFW is set up with a North or South flow with 5 runways that are either 18/36 or 17/35. Three of them are on the East side of the airports and two of them are on the West side. It's very common at DFW for them to use the two West runways for all arrivals from the west of the airports centerline, and the three East runways for all arrivals from the East of the airports centerline. And you can look at departures the same way. If your flight is going to SAN you're to takeoff from the West side of the airport. If your flight is going to LGA then you're going to takeoff from the East side of the airport. This prevents ATC from having to route aircraft over the airfield, or through inbound traffic, just to get them closer to their final gate. Bluntly put, the FAA doesn't care about that hahaha. Now at a small airport. That's definitely a possibility. I've even seen it at airports like MCI where there is a decent flow of traffic. But at major hubs it's more about the flow of aircraft in/out. Of course the pilot can always request it. But chances are their request is going be denied at airports like MIA, DFW, ATL, ORD, LAX, etc. Thanks for watching my friend!
Amazing vid! We arrived at 7:21 PM because of weather and we got rebooked with a max 8 with the registration “N314RH”.
Nice. N314RH is the Max American used for their first post-grounding Max flight. Which you can find on my channel. 😉
I love the way that these massive jets just seem to float when they're on final, with the help of those oversize flaps and leading edge slats.
You and me both my friend! Thanks for watching!

a trick : watch series on flixzone. Been using it for watching all kinds of movies during the lockdown.
@Eric Ty yup, I have been watching on flixzone for since december myself :D
@Eric Ty definitely, I have been using Flixzone for since december myself :D
Love this video! Thanks for posting, and please upload more.
Plenty more on the way!

No worries my friend. I've been through DFW so many times I could navigate it with my eyes closed. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Would really love to give them a try soon! Especially flying on a widebody domestically, I am always in for that!
There are quite a few domestic widebody flight options out there now. Hopefully you get to soon! Thanks for watching!

Thanks my friend!

never thought a wide body, even less a 777 would be flown for a domestic flight.

@@sla31 very informative - thx
I think you got the times wrong
I assumed you were referring to the times I list in the video description for the different parts of the flight, but I checked those and they are correct. Were you referring to something else?
Don't know why pilot didn't ask for runway I think 8R AA terminal is on the right of runway. But was giving 12? saves a lot of fuel.
