Aahh yes! the dust, smell, sweat 'n itch and sound - brings it all back. Dunno about the music though -didn't have radio on the combine then! Waiting for the Tank to fill would here the distant growl or rumble and the Birds, the Odd Cow or sheep or dog barking.................................................................... Yes! and Opa enjoys his Beer - not from Singen or Gottmadingen though, is it? Must be an Old M66 - don't remember them looking like that - but maybe I'm confused with the M88. Yes - we made around 600 M66's for Finland out of Lauingen in 197x - a very long RED Line on the train.
Ha ha! but in 1968, it couldn't have been me 😇. I must have another look at this film - after all these years. How many folk who worked on them are still around today: would have been great to hear from them!
@@culmalachie 😅 It occurred to me that in 1968 Fahrs were still manufactured elsewhere in Germany? Köla combines were manufactured in Lauingen, which Deutz bought and Fahr manufacturing moved there in the early 70s? I know a few farmers here who had such a combine. One of them is currently using an M750.
@@janne1311 Greetings from Scotland! - don't know where you're from - deduced from Finland ( "finlandia" - as you mentioned). Well so far as Gramps can remember, All FAHR machinery was made in Gottmadingen ( near Schaffhausen) with a Foundry nearby in Stockach. I don't know who bought the Kola factory just that the Combines were moved there.(from Gottmadingen. I wonder whether the M1600Hydromat ( a terrific machine, way ahead of its time) was actually developed / designed by Köla .In the UK, although I was aware of the M66 &M88, the most popular became the M1000/1200 and then the M1102 as very good simple basic machines which were very reliable - just like the KM165 ( turbomower) of which we had several and whenever you bought one, you would receive an envelope full of interesting information brochure about ALL the machines made by FAHR, including the aerial photograph Postcards of the factories. I'm surprised that nobody from Fahr ( workers) responds on these comments. Just looking at Utube sidebar: forgot that the M66 --> to M600 and so on. what memory does ... so M600 from Lauingen and maybe, MAYBE M66 from Gottmadingen. a long time ago and would have to ask Gramps for verification.
Servus! Da dies doch schon einige Jahre her ist.
XD

We had 1968 model M66. In Lauingen, someone had written Finlandia on the cockpit stairs with a white marker.
