His theory was that potatoes grows relatively slow in Sweden, making the starch better somehow...
Schweizernöt is a staple of any Swedish diet. However... trying to pronounce that would be... well, it'd be hilarious but very few would even attempt to do so.
Å, Ä and Ö are actual individual letters. Å sounds like the word "awe", Ä sounds like the "A" in "ass" :D and for the last one Ö it's pronounced like the "I" in the word "bird". With that you can probably figure out how to say "Gräslök", the word means chives by the way.
I think you said Gräslök really well actually! And best way to get the chips is probably to have someone here ship you some! And those bags are the small ones, the normal sized bags are bigger. Some flavors have maxi bags too.
Daim is the best but it really sticks to your teeth. Still worth it, tough! 😆 There’s also ice cream with sprinkles of Daim in it in stores over here - yum. 🇸🇪
The US based candy shop Sweetish has all this stuff. I checked and I saw all of them except Bilar but I must have missed them, there's no way they don't have them. There's even a sale on several of them, the chips and Daim bar for instance. One tip is to pick up Marabou Mini Favorites Mix since it has a bunch of bit sized versions of really good chocolate, including one my absolute favorites, Dubbel Nougat.

Hi! The Ahlgrens Bilar are said to taste of vanilla (white) strawberry (pink) and pear (green) and there's a game you can do where you close your eyes and try to guess which color you are tasting. People can get surprisingly accurate even tho in reality, the only difference between them are the food coloring. No difference in flavors between the colors. And Daim is pronounced like the word dime, 10-cent coin.

There are acctually no differens in the ingredients of the different bilar except for colour ingredients that has no taste in itself. The reason they taste different is probably different for different people :) Colours, tastes and smells all make you think of different tastes. (glukossirap, socker, stärkelse, gelatin, invertsockersirap, syra (e270), vegetabiliska oljor (kokos, raps), aromer, ytbehandlingsmedel (karnaubavax), färgämnen (klorofyllinkopparkomplex, karmin).

ABBA, IKEA……you can also add things like ”Greyhound-buses” and Spotify, when talking about Sweden. Grillchips are awesome with some cold beers, right after a bbq. The colours on ”bilar”, are just to make your eyes trick your tastebuds - they all taste the same. Kexchoklad is nice after the gym, a bikeride, a jog etc…..
If you only knew the variations of chocolate bars by especially Marabou both size and flovour combinations with white, milk and dark chocolate. You'd get lost in the Marabou shelf alone. In my head I could count at least 20. Same with OLW and Esterella with chips. It's like with pizza, there's one for you no matter who you are and what preferences you have. We also have A LOT of brand collaboration candy too.

Apparently it's "widely debated" whether the three variants of Ahlgrens original cars tastes the same or not. :D At the very least there is no known flavoring. Only coloring agents without flavors. (Everyone knows its vanilla, strawberry and pear!)

So surprised that they didn't put a small bag of "Djungelvrål" in the box? It's that salty licorice that many youtubers try. They don't like it usually, but it would be interesting if they had just like a few in very small amounts, just for the fun of it. I love salty licorice, but there are many different dimensions of salty licorice, so even if you get hold of Djungelvrål, don't expect all salty licorice things to taste alike. 🥰Just continue trying! 🤩👍🏻
Bilar/the cars don't differ in taste apparently, read somewhere that they all have the same taste but since the colors are different the mind tricks us to think each color have a different taste. Also you were lucky that they did not send you Djungelvrål hahaa ;)
Noone knows what flavours Ahlgrens Bilar are! I live in Sweden and I have been eating them at least since 1977. My guess is that they all have the same general fruity flavour, and the only difference is the subtle additional flavours from the red and green foodcolours (carmine and chlorophyllin). When it comes to the Daim bar, it was called Dajm earlier in Sweden and Dime in the UK. And yes it's a Swedish variant of the Heath bar.

As a fellow vegetarian, I stay away from candy that has gelatin in it. I'm a Swede and the gelatin free selection is getting better and better over here. How is the situation on that part in the US?
My sister also avoids gelatin. Unfortunately it's very hard to avoid, at least here. Gelatin is in a lot of stuff, even our medications, so it's hard to avoid. And we don't have any Gelatin free sections in our store, it's more like reading individual products to see if they have it. Majority of them do which is why I made the decision to just consume Gelatin, like I said it's in medications and vitamins.

If you like dark chocklate you should have tried Marabous Premium chocolate, it is 70 % pure chockolate with varius tastes like mint ,strawbarries, seasalt etc. And they didn´t sent you what sweden is famous for. Any sample of out licorice snacks. I would liked to hear your reaction on that. By listening from other countries peiples reaction to our world famous licorice it sound like we are the only ones that appriciatee it. But yes, there are some really good swedish chips other then those you tried. I am not sure about how you can get them. But if you go to IKEA. they sell among othere´s Daim and Kexchklad
I prefer Esterella Dill & Gräslök before Olw brand and same with many other things from Olw ! The best things from Owl are there Cheeze Doodles in different flavours.

I hated the dill chips, tasted like pure grass, but I don't like pickles, so… And I don't like onion, so I didn't dig those chips. But my box included black truffle oil & parmesan chips, which were very good, but so rich. They had so many gummies, which tasted fine, but I don't like stuff sticking in my teeth. There was a bar called Japp, which was like 3 Musketeers with caramel, which was great. And I love almost all chocolate wafery things, so Kex was also great.

Marabou is the name of the maker. Note the embossed Marabou stork on some of the chocolate pieces.

Yeah apparently the are the same flavor but the coloring agents have some kind of "bismak" (tang) and then your brain does the rest

The biggest difference is that the white is a tiiiiny bit minty. Like if you eat a few white ones at once you get a cooling feeling.
