    I went to UNF during summer semester 2019 and fall semester 2019 and I really enjoyed being there. I ended up leaving due to personal reasons but I miss going to classes, studying with my friends at the library and working part time at the Starbucks. The fact that it's also right smack dab in the middle of a forest also makes the school feels like it incorporated nature with technology, and it feels very homey due to that. All in all, UNF is a great school to go to.

    I'm currently a junior @ UNF and I enjoy the school very much. I'm a transfer student and it was the best transfer decision I've ever made! I love the swoop life. I have no complaints and they are very time efficiant when it comes to concerns. I hope to work at my school after I graduate.

    Hi! I’m currently deciding between UNF and another school and I was wondering if you had any insight into the professors and overall standard of education. My main worry is physics (but Im also looking into pursuing art, education, and/or possibly sign language) and I made the mistake of looking at the rate your professors website and now I’m a bit worried about the physics classes. Do you happen to know about the experience of others who were physics majors (or the other majors I mentioned if you know anything)? If not I understand. I was also wondering how big classes can get even though the average is 35ish. Thank you for the video I thought it was very helpful! And sorry this was so long.

    Is it easy to get around Jacksonville or UNF without a car?

    • @almostaustin
      @almostaustin  4 года назад +18

      UNF without a car is not not going to be a problem at all - the campus is compact and everything you will need is within walking distance. Jacksonville on the other hand, as the largest city in the US, is incredibly decentralized and will require a car to navigate. Moreover, do to how spread out things are, public transportation is not great because it's rather ineffective to combat the size of the city.

    Hi! This is a super helpful video, I'm really considering UNF. Quick question about the honors college: its says on the website that most incoming students have a 4.0 who are admitted to honors. Do you think a gpa lower than that will make it in if the sat scores and rec letters are really good? Like were there other honors students u knew who had a lower gpa but still got in?

    I don’t have a car- how hard would it be to get off campus? Are there buses?

    • @almostaustin
      @almostaustin  3 года назад +4

      Hey! Jacksonville is not a great city for public transportation in general. However, UNF does offer a shuttle service that will take students from the campus to the shopping district directly next to campus (St. Johns Town Center). Past that, my best advice would be to put your best foot forward in making friends who have cars. I didn't have a car and that's what I did - had no problems living on campus for two years.

    Are the party goods?

    • @almostaustin
      @almostaustin  4 года назад +2

      As a guy with no Greek Life association and low to neutral interest in the party scene, I'm not a good source for first-hand experience. I can tell you this - UNF does not have a reputation for being a "Party School," but that's not to say that parties don't exist. If you go Greek for sure you'll find them, otherwise you'll have to make connections that can get you into Greek Life events or be a member/have associations with crowds that throw house parties. It's also important to note that the clubbing scene in Jax is trash if you're under 21 (@ 21 you have access to the beach bars).
      Ultimately, I would say that if your expectation is to party like you see it in the movies or from the nation's biggest party schools, then you will be disappointed by your options at UNF - that's the truth. However, if you manage those expections to a level where you understand that UNF is not a party school, but you will find comparable alternatives if you work to seek them out, then you're going to have a good time here.

      Otter Space Productions that’s awesome. I am currently looking at UNF and I am highly interested. I applied to to honors college as well. I am a chemistry pre med major and I want to study abroad. How did you get started with studying abroad? Any tips!

    • @almostaustin
      @almostaustin  4 года назад +3

      UNF has a lot of opportunities, and like I said in the video, Study Abroad is HUGE - especially with Honors. Honors is actually how I got started, with a trip to Peru. Between honors and UNF student government, there are so many scholarships available to make it more affordable as well. The major you're thinking about will likely have less opportunities than other degrees, but if play your cards right you can easily make one or two possible.
