In Dec of 2020, I was working at a fast food place and taking orders next to the drive-through cashier. An older guy bought a coffee with a 1 dollar bill and a coin. The cashier asked me if we accept this, and it was a 1923 peace dollar. I promptly said yes and exchanged it with a dollar in my wallet as fast as I could. It's definitely in circulated quality but not bad of shape. Best find I think I'll get

Nice find on the Morgan! My favorite coin. I had to get the 1884 CC uncirculated. Out of all of my silver, it's my pride and joy hands down.
I just pulled out an 1883 Morgan silver dollar out of my silver coin box that I haven't had a chance to go through. It is in a case and mint condition. Thank you for reminding me to go through this old box of coins my Grandmother left me after she passed away in 2020.

Writing this at only 6:49 in. I’ve known about going to banks for coin hunting, but I never realized it “could” be so lucrative. I’ll check out your other channel devoted to coins. I inherited quite a few from my dad who inherited some from his.

According to the NGC Price Guide, as of October 2023, a Morgan Dollar from 1902 in circulated condition is worth between $35 and $72. However, on the open market 1902 Silver Dollars in pristine, uncirculated condition sell for as much as $27500.

It's like $20+ worth of silver alone. My grandpa had a bunch of silver coins and i went through them and figured out the silver price and its pretty crazy just the silver value alone
Oh my god your bank staff in the US are so polite and helpful, here in Australia you would need to prove you are a customer of that bank then wait 30 seconds for them to tell you to bugger off !

I worked at my family’s bar restaurant for 15 years and my grandfather taught me the sounds of silver very young. I love hearing it go into the till because I knew I was buying it back later. Once I cracked open a full roll of silver quarters! I still have everything I’ve found over the years. Amazing the amount of people that have no idea

One of my tellers found an 1880-something morgan last year and wanted to keep it for the history. I don't blame her. I look forward to finally finding an old silver dollar whenever I'm lucky enough to get my hands on just a few big dollars.
Was amazed that you found that Morgan in a bank loose. I did learn something in video and that is to search all my coins and especially the date. My wife received a whole roll of buffalo nickels from the bank, she bought them and brought them home. I was amazed at how nice they looked and they haven't been in circulation that much as all the edges were still sharp and not rounded or worn down. Great video my friend, stay safe.

Awesome fine on the silver dollar. About 10 yrs ago my bank had $300 large dollars in a bank plastic bag they put it in. In there were 3 1886-O dollars. They were all beat up. Probably graded AG 2 my guess. But the excitement was worth it. Keep searching. You never know. Love you videos. Thanks

Dude, finding that Moran was sick! I've found plenty of Franklins and one Walker, but never a Morgan! I've not done this in a very long time, but I very much enjoyed your video and I'm considering trying it again.
When I worked a register, I'd ALWAYS shake the coins down in my hand listening for the clunk instead of the clink. Found quite a bit in the registers, including a V nickel, can't remember the date though. It was decades ago.

Hi Shane. Been a long time since I made a comment on a vid of yours I'm not much into Gold panning, but your title caught my eye as does CRH. Yes, that is extremely rare to find a Morgan. I have found a couple and Peace dollars over the many years of my CRH. It was fun to watch this video. It reminded me of when I found mine. Exactly the same way. Was handed to me with some IKE dollars. I also was reminiscing about the old Bitconnect days. And yeah, we both lost money. But I did manage to pull some out when things started to go south. Just could not get it all out. Ha! I remember when you were doing your Live streams back then and you had a graphic in the upper corner showing the price of bitcoin. Exciting and crazy times, but fun nonetheless. I still have one of your guitar picks you sent me. Cheers, Dave from Cincinnati.

That’s awesome. I do this game as well. Best I ever scored was a 1896 type O Morgan. Had it appraised and PCGS valued it at $670 👍

The guy teller didn't hardly understand he was looking for half dollars. I'm sure he doesn't have too many people who ask for them and not too many people who bring them in on a daily basis.

So that explains that one bank teller but apparently there is clearly an expectation that these rolls will have higher value coins in them.
My question is why banks don't hunt for that value themselves?
They could automate it and realise enormous gains.

one of the easiest ways to check for silver is t look at the side of the coin and it should not have a copper band in the middle as well as it sounds different

Not quite 1/1000000 but pretty scarce. I found an 1881-S, 1884-O, 1921-P this way. I also found an 1896 and 1897 from a couple of cash registers. Doubt I will find anymore.

The 1902-P Morgan looks like it's around F-15 grade. Too much wear for VF-20. At VF-20, it's about a $50 coin. Maybe $40-45. Good deal for $1.

I bought about $120 worth of half and some $2 bills.. the one I saw from the distance I knew was silver, so I bought them all and just with the one silver coin I saw was a state half and sold for $430, and the rest of the half some had nice toning or very nice quality and ended up about $800 on the plus side.. then ended up trading for 1/10th oz gold coin and a 1909 svdb cent.. winners all around

Think it's time I break out the metal detector and do some treasure hunting again myself before it gets to cold to do it.
Do you bring the non-silver coins back to the bank rolled up or loose? Do banks always buy them back or can they say they don't need them? Have you ever bought a box of coins from a teller, only to return the non-silver ones to the same teller and they give you an annoyed look? Great video as always!
Usually most people have a source bank and a dump bank. Ask around if they have half dollars, if they say yes but we don't sell them - congrats you just found your dump bank (or return bank). It actually costs the bank money to order the coins and to send them out to be rerolled which is why tellers give you dirty looks. Some banks also only take them back if you reroll them yourself.
for example my dad's bank has a really nasty teller that hates when people ask for coins and never sells them to people - only to businesses, but that bank has a really fast coin machine so we return all our coins there.
Pretty sure there are coin sorter machines at the bank that he just dumps the loose coins into. He’s shown it in other videos.
